060208 ICTAC Fair: Focus 2 Theme: Specific, chosen technologies (see list below) Time scale: Feb18th – 20th March 2008 The SECOND focus of the 2008 ICTAC fair will commence on Feb 18th and continue until the end of the spring term. The purpose of this focus is to allow you and your department TIME and consolidation with a chosen item of technology.

Considerations/ Actions As a department, devise a time table to allow all staff time, with your chosen technology. Consult JG if required for an initial induction with your chosen item. As an individual devise a plan of how you will engage and spend time with your chosen technology to allow progression and development of knowledge and understanding. Get to know your item of technology. Spend time on the basics such as setting up, turning on, consult a user guide if needed. Prepare a use for your technology to allow you to conduct a test (dry) run without pupils involved. Identify any technical problems/ issues and report these to JG and/ or the technicians early. Pilot your chosen technology with a targeted class or group of pupils. Observe and reflect during and after this pilot to help inform planning of wider use with pupils. Practise. Plan an activity that compliments current projects/ schemes of work. Consider using your chosen technology instead of traditional resources. Take a risk! Have a back up plan, just in case. But don’t be put off in the event of a glitch. Feedback/ discuss within your department and pupils on how your involvement and use of the technology went/ is going. Consider future uses.
