Diagrammatic Writing

I wrote this in response to my research that had covered diagrammatic structures in Conceptual art, Literature and the Oulipo group and more contemporary examples influencing interdisciplinary research. Back in 1970 Larry miller and Maurice Stein of Black Mountain College wrote Blueprint for Counter Education proposing the use of diagrams, maps and charts as ways to organise, collect and collaborate for critical and contextual studies in the arts. It concentrates on building shapes of ideas, a visual approach to research for art and design students, and one I adopt within my lecture delivery, seminars and workshops. Students develop diagrammatic works as key starting point in their Portfolio of work and develop this to visualise, illustrate and communicate their ideas.
