Welcome to our 2nd newsletter issue of the year! The purpose of this newsletter is to inform you of some new information about the company that includes a recap on recent events, a look into our new products, and updates and reminders for the future! With that, we have all been officially working for BlockParty for two months now and I hope that you all have had a successful and productive time here. As we settle into the flow of the workload, remember to continue to work your hardest and make BlockParty the most successful company on the block. Even though it is near break time, be sure not to procrastinate on your tasks and duties. The well-being of the company not only depends on you or me alone, but on all of us working together to create the best experience for our customers.

hello employees! Since our inception, BlockParty has met or exceeded all goals and expectation. As we get into the holiday season such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s, we are ramping up production in both the marketing and sales departments. In addition, the company must put more effort into creativity and dedication towards our craft as more customer requests come in. With more production, we must also remember to continue to grow and build employee relationships to create a better workplace environment. I’m confident in our potential over the next few months and I hope to see our continual expansion!

employee thoughts anh tu lu

As the competition date is quickly approaching, our employees are working their hardest to complete tasks to send to Virtual Enterprise. All departments are preparing for their own documents and presentations to turn in such as the business plan, employee manual, sales catalog, and employee newsletter. In addition, the marketing department is creating a unique booth design to encompass our company’s mission statement and goals. Everyone is hard at work, but even when employees run into trouble, they have their department to rely on. “It has been troubling for me to come up with ideas for the video since it needs to represent the company in the best way possible, but with my department’s help, the process has been easier to manage,” said Stephanie Tecaxco, Video Productions Manager. Be sure to meet the deadlines provided by Mr. Rylaarsdam as we need time to improve upon our submissions and finalize important details. Let’s go win some medals!

bonding times

The Thanksgiving season has come and gone, but of course not without a celebration here at BlockParty. Our Human Resources Department and Event Planners organized ice breaker games and a potluck that brought in many kinds of food and fun for everyone to enjoy and bond. From transporting corn cobs to catching airborne popcorn with our mouths, everyone had an exciting time to enjoy with fellow employees. “Through the various bonding activities, the different departments were able to bond and create stronger relationships that will contribute to the overall success of the company,” said Audrey Kirwin, Training Manager. To top it off, everyone bought in many food items that contributed to the success of our potluck. As now is the season of giving, remember to give back to those who has impacted you in a positive way. The HR department will continue to deliver new and exciting events for all of us to work together, have fun, and create a positive environment.

From L to R: 1. James Kim passes the corn to his teammates using his elbows. Employees had to come up with creative ways to pass the item without using their hands. 2. Alyssa Nelson opens her mouth wide to catch the popcorn in her mouth. Although the game was hard, employees had fun playing the game. 3. Rahul Setty and Jasmine Fanibanda throw the corn to each other using their clothing. Each team had a different method of playing the game, ranging from using their knees to using their jackets.

Throughout the past month, Block Party has been developing new products as the starting line of our company. The sales department especially has been working hard to bring out new products, but it “is fun because it lets me practice my people skills while developing an amazing product that I know our customers will love,” said Alexis Allen-Pok, Sales Associate. The department has been hard at work coming up with new ideas to make our vision statement come true - to bring convenience of instant entertainment to everyone’s lives. As Christmas is coming up, one hugely anticipated product has been the Winter Wonderland. This custom-themed package includes a setting at a fully decorated winter scene. With our accessories collection and hanging snowflake decorations, a normal, boring party can be turned instantly into a true Winter Wonderland, made possible through the use of Presto! Technology. In addition, the setting to be catered to any occasion - birthdays, weddings, or just fun holiday parties.

MONTH

Q: What is your job and what are some examples of your duties? A: I am the student store manager. If you didn’t know, the store is like a mini business within our virtual business so it takes a lot of work from the whole fundraising committee to keep it up and running. Some of my duties include finding items we can sell that meet the district restrictions, ordering products from companies, and dealing with the finances of the student store.

Q: Do you believe that you deserve employee of the month? A: I believe I deserve this title, but I also know that I couldn’t do my job without the rest of the fundraising committee. We all support and help each other with our own tasks, and Jackie, Denise and Diana deserve the title just as much! To me, receiving this award really means that our entire committee is doing our jobs right. Q: What advice do you have for other employees who want to become employee of the month? A: My advice to other BlockParty employees is to keep working hard and meet all deadlines!
