hello everyone! Welcome to the beginning of BlockParty’s first fiscal year! With so many tasks to complete, I hope you all are doing well and keeping up with your work. As we set up for the biggest party of our lives, remember that our company will be the most successful company on the block. Deadlines are coming up quickly, but we are all passionate, excited, and devoted to this Virtual Enterprise company. Each individual is a necessary part to the structure that is BlockParty; our abilities as a company exceed that of any to date. BOBA? anh tu lu
On October 8th, Block Party held its first ever fundraiser. Because the hype of milk tea fundraisers has been increasing at Oxford Academy, we decided to purchase boba from Dolphin Bay and sell it to students. Due to the boba’s popularity, it became a struggle to hold the lines as students eagerly await for their drinks. Although the drinks arrived late due to complications with the store, once they came, everyone flocked over and created a chaotic situation. Not all the opinions on the boba were good, however. One of our customers, Michael Rylaarsdam, described the drink as “disgusting” and “the worst thing I’ve ever tasted,” while spitting out the tapioca balls. Ultimately, we as a company have collectively decided to never do a boba fundraiser again. The troubles had outweighed the benefits. The $150 that we gained will be used to help alleviate the costs of trade shows. In the future, don’t forget to support BlockParty by participating in our fundraisers and buying from the Student Store!

As I was planning my mom’s 40th birthday party, I realized how difficult and expensive it was to plan a large, nice event for more than 100 people. There was no efficient way of doing anything all at once, as I had to be in contact with multiple vendors for every different part of the party. I wanted a one-stop shop for my party needs, and this idea of a customizable party that would give me everything I wanted in one easy step was a dream to me. I wanted this dream to become a reality, and that’s when the idea of BlockParty really developed. BlockParty was designed to give anyone planning a party a quick, efficient way to plan a party all at once. Our website allows for unlimited customizable parties at our customers fingertips, as well as add ons that include caterers, DJs, and performers. Not only is the party customizable, but it also assembles and disassembles itself by using our new, innovative technology. BlockParty’s focus is the happiness of our party planners, and we work to accommodate to all needs.

We’re the accounting department. On the surface, it may seem like we just crunch numbers and hold other employees’ payrolls hostage, but really, we do much more. With Do-Vu, Fanibanda, Ruiz, Setty, and Somani at the helm of the ship, we make sure the financials of this company are well managed as to keep this boat afloat and this party alive. Fun fact: Did you know the name “Block Party” originated from our department?
Our department is focused on the overall branding and advertising of the company. We focus on logo creation, name creation, videos,. banners, booth designs, uniforms, and more in order to better sell our products and make the company more appealing to customers. Our department’s goals for this year is to score at least 1 award of some sort for marketing, to create a great uniform policy that the company will enjoy, use our creativity to the best of our abilities, and to have fun while doing it all! Life is a party, go out and have a blast.
In short, we build the web site. In long, we build the website and make sure our company computers don’t burn down. We take all of our company’s information, from the business prospect to individual employee profiles, and store them on online databases. The internet is a big open space and we aim to make sure our block doesn’t go to waste.

The Human Resources department is in charge of creating policies for our company and its employees as well as handling any work related incidents. We strive to be the best there is through company social events, monthly training sessions and detailed employee evaluations to keep our workers on track. Our department hopes to achieve the creation of a familial atmosphere guided by the principles of hard work, innovation, dedication, and integrity.
The fundraising department’s purpose is in its name planning and executing fundraisers. The department ensures that Block Party has enough finances to continue operations and has an important role in the company’s success. We are also in charge of running the student store so make sure you come out to support V.E. by buying ice cream!
