Thank You to Sandy and Zach Robinson, Glenn Hamilton, Pamela Sylvander-Lucero and everyone from the Class of 1987 for a great 80’s Flashback Dance on Saturday, April 29th. Over 250 alumni attended as well as former faculty including Coach Bob Carlson. Thanks also to our volunteers: Bob and Jeanette Heiner ‘54, Mira and John Noga, José Gonzalez ‘18 and Nigel Urquiza ‘18. All proceeds after expenses went to the HS scholarship fund. St. Benedict HS Class of 1977 Reunion Saturday, Sept 30, 2017 - 7PM-11PM Celebrate our 40th reunion from high school! The event will take place at Jokes4Miles located at 4025 N. Elston Avenue in Chicago. Great venue, fantastic entertainment (with special surprises), food, beverages, prizes, raffle. Ticket price is $19.77 per person. More details at web site. We say goodbye to another alumnus who made a difference back here at St. Benedict High School:
Gerhard Perschke ‘65 passed away on November 16, 2016. Gerhard reached out to the advancement office a few years ago and inquired how he could honor his first wife Susan (Kass) Perschke ‘65 and help out a high school family. The result became part of our endowment awards, the Chorus Award. His gift to the endowment allows the school to perpetually present a $1000 scholarship annually to a student who meets the criteria of the new Chorus Award. He personally presented the first award to Laura Gaerditz ‘16 at the 2014 annual Christmas Show (upper left). He saw such a benefit through this experience that he decided to establish another endowment award in memory of his math teacher, Sister Natalie Gerlach, S.S.S.F. and was on hand to present the annual Mathematics Award to this year’s valedictorian, Maisha Kasole back in the fall of 2015 (lower left). May this good and generous steward rest in peace.
Our Alumni Association will be hosting the Alumni Hall of Fame Induction this coming August at the All-Class Reunion. We have received a few nominations so far. Have someone in mind that meet the following criteria? Qualifications for the Hall of Fame: The Hall of Fame honors alumni and friends of St. Benedict whose lives exemplify to an extraordinary degree the values and standards that St. Benedict Prep High School represents. • The individual is a distinguished alum who graduated five or more years ago, or a friend of St. Benedict Preparatory School who has demonstrated a strong relationship with the school for at least five years. • The individual has made outstanding personal contributions in his or her profession, community, or volunteer activities. • The individual has a personal lifestyle that reflects the mission of St Benedict Preparatory High School. He or she must exemplify the highest ethical, moral, and spiritual qualities.
