CRYSTAL PALACE ‘The Eagles’ In 1895, the Football Association had found a new permanent home for the FA Cup Final at the site of the famous Crystal Palace Exhibition building. Years later the owners of the attraction, who were reliant on tourist activity for their income, sought fresh attractions for the venue, and decided to form their own football team to play at the Palace stadium. Palace remained in the Southern League up until 1914, The outbreak of the First World War led to the Admiralty requisitioning the Crystal Palace and the club was forced to move .The club joined the Football League Third Division in the 1920–21 season, finishing as champions and gaining promotion to the Second Division. During this period, Palace also won the London Challenge Cup three times in 1913, 1914, and 1921. Palace moved to the purpose-built stadium Selhurst Park in 1924, the ground the club plays at today, staying in the top flight from 1969 until 1973. Crystal Palace fan base drawn predominantly from the local area, which draws on South London, Kent and Surrey. middlesbrough ‘The boro’ Middlesbrough Football Club based in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. Formed in 1876, they have played at the Riverside Stadium since 1995, since turning professional in 1889. Middlesbrough, one of the founding members of the Premier League in 1992 and became the first club to be relegated from it following the 1992/93 season. Middlesbrough being also the first football club in the world to launch its own TV channel – Boro TV. southampton ‘The saints’ Southampton F.C. known affectionately as “The Saints” since it’s inception in 1885 due to its history as a church football team, founded as St. Mary’s Church of England Young Men’s Association. Southampton was one of the founding members of the Premier League in 1992–93, and spent most of the next ten seasons struggling against relegation to be part of the premiership league. Southampton F.C. stadium known as St Mary’s Stadium has been home to the Saints since August 2001. It has a capacity of 32,689, one of only a handful of stadiums in Europe to meet UEFA’s Four Star criteria. Stoke City Football Club are the second oldest professional football club in the world, based in Stokeon-Trent, Staffordshire in the north of England playing in the Premier League. Founded as Stoke Ramblers in 1863 the club changed its name to Stoke City in 1925 after Stoke-on-Trent was granted city status. West Bromwich Albion Football Club also known as West Brom, The Baggies, The Throstles, Albion or simply WBA, is an English professional football club based in West Bromwich in the West Midlands, (15) miles from Birmingham City Centre in the heart of the U.K. Local workers from the world famous weighing scales Co in West Bromwich founded West Bromwich Albion Football Club as West Bromwich Strollers in 1878. In March 1888 W.B.A as part of what was considered to be the top five English teams, including formed an association of clubs that would play each other home and away each season.
