enkel sofabed

The brief for this project was to design a new sofa-bed and its mechanism. The enkel sofa was designed to be easy to use and simplistic to fit any modern living space. The idea behind the product was combining a swedish style design in a simplistic way. The mechanism designed makes use of levers attached to the sofa body with pull up and out, therefore reducing the energy needed to make the sofa-bed and allowing the movement to be less complicated and easier to understand. The simplistic and stripped back appeal of the sofa design allows it to blend into any modern living area.

moodboard & user

The brief for this project was to design homeware that fitted into Heal’s aethetics and brand. The Slats Table Light is a fun and charming lamp made up of a base and changeable slats. The lamp is made almost entirely out of steam-bent oak wood. The curvature of the lamp mirrors the curvature of the bulb, creating an interesting profile. The Slats Table Light makes a versatile and stylish feature for any modern home.

kettle +flask

The brief for this project was to design either a kettle, toaster, iron or coffee machine and make it longer lasting. This project was focused around a kettle. The Kettle+Flask Set was designed to be adaptable and make using a kettle easier and more efficient. The idea behind the product was energy wastage and how we really use kettles. Many people just boil a kettle to make one tea or coffee which makes it easy to waste water and energy, as very few people take the time to check the amount of water they use. Therefore by creating both a kettle and a flask which can be used to boil water it makes it easier for families and commuters to use and not only reduces energy but also time. The set was designed to be similar yet still have individuality as designs, a new concept into not only how people use kettles but how we need appliances to work to our personal needs.

CASIO

* brand premiumisation

the brief of this project was to create a watch that was premium, yet still had the characteristics of a CASIO watch. The client of the brief was a modern 'Reanaissance Man', a multifaceted client, with a variety of interests and tastes. The watch design is based on the idea of simplicity and neutrality, this is because a client with a variety of interests and tastes could be put off a watch that could be seen as 'too' masculine. The watch itself uses the cool grey colour for all aspects except the orange second hand. The watch can be seen to feature typical CASIO features including the double stick design at the top of the face, as well as the multiple features.

air necklace inhaler

The brief for this project was to design a product which enchance someones experience of a lifestyle disease and let them manage it themselves. COLLABORATION WITH INNOVIA Traditionally design for asthma has focused on children or athletes, however my project was aimed at designing for females in their twenties for use at events and when going out. The outcome of the project was a discreet portable inhaler which looks like a necklace, it was designed to be simple and go with many peoples style therefore it shouldn’t stand out and is easy to use and carry.

bath chair aid

1

2 The brief for this project was to design a product to reduce or stop the elderly falling in the bathroom. This project was focused on the bath area. The chair is based on similar existing products which focus on seating the elderly in the bath. However these products look very clinical and unwelcoming. The chair is designed to look aesthetically appealing while being functional. It works by using a waterproof remote which lowers or raises the seat into the bath. The seaWt remains horizontal at bath level allowing the user to swing round on to the seat and then be lowered safely. The seat is designed to support the user in all core areas; which might be under strain. As well as being designed to be easily lifted out of the bath if another user didn’t feel comfortable using the product. The chair is functional and simple solution to falls and slips in the bathroom.

tag rugby vest Âą for water

The brief for this project was to design a solution that could be implemented to increase engagement in swimming as a regular fitness activity, with a focus on 'having fun' COLLABORATION WITH MATTER (http://matter.co.uk/) DESIGNED FOR SPEEDO The tagged vest was created to run with a new indoor water sports game, this game combines the rules and idea of tag rugby in a pool. The vest is designed with 2 tags which can be pulled to let water absorb into the hydromorphic material which is inside the pad; essentially a tag rugby vest in water. As more water sports such as water polo and water jogging are becoming more popular, the idea of tag rugby which has also become more popular seemed a sport which could be taken to water. The target market for the product was a boy aged between 12-15. This informed the bright colour choices and also links the animal picture to rugby teams and speedo as a brand. The vest itself would be made from a strechable material similar to nylon and the pads would be made out of a plastic similar to that of water inflatables. The tags have also been designed with handles which make grip easier in a pool. The product provides the means for a new water sport and an increase in engagement and activity as it is popular with the chosen target market.

feel good chocolate design

The brief for this project was to design a chocolate bar that refelcted a better feeling and wellness. COLLABORATION WITH NESTLE The creux chocolate bar was designed to be an every day premium chocolate bar, targetted at females who work busy office jobs and dont feel like they have the time to exercise. Therefore the chocolate bar was designed to look like a treat from the gold embellishment to the script font used. The chocolate bars were designed in 4 different sizes from a large bar to a single piece of chocolate. They were designed this way for different occasions, the large bar was designed to share compared to the single square which was designed as a free giveaway with a coffee. There was also a 'golden ticket' idea created to promote the chocolate bar and create awareness of the bar. It was designed with a unique code that could be taken to the website to find if you had won. The website would also include general information about the brand and bar.The creux bar shows a modern take on a treat that should make you feel good about yourself.

ELLE, 26 Elle works in an office, she needs to grab something on the go and be quick about it. Due to her job she sits around a lot, therefore she is trying to lead a healthy lifestyle. This is because of her busy schedule and eating healthier is the best way for her to stay in shape, but she doesn’t want to compromise her snacks.

SIMPLISTIC PACKAGING REFLECTING SIMPLICITY OF CHOCOLATE.

She is a very materialistic person and cares about what she is seen in and doing. Therefore brand is very important to her and is something she makes big decisions based on.

PACKAGING WOULD BE MADE FROM CARD TO CREATE A MORE PREMIUM FEEL.

tyvek bum bag promotional product

The brief for this project was to design a promotional item that could be given away and would cost less that ÂŁ2.50 to manufacture, as part of a BPMA competition. I focused this project on Festivals and redesigning the ‘bum bag’. The TY-BAG was designed to be made from tyvek, a material commonly used in the building industry, however over the recent years it has shown up in the fashion industry. The TY-BAG was designed so that it would be around the same size as an average bum bag but contain elements of a small satchel. This would give it a more proffesional finish while still keeping it practical. The TY-BAG was also designed with security in mind and therefore includes a small pocket behind the bag, which woudl be just large enough for any valuables. The TY-BAG is a versatile and durable solution to the 'bum bag'.
