Black History Imprinted
Curtis Mayfield, Jay-Z, Earth, Wind & Fire, Sylvester and Sam & Dave recordings inducted into National Recording Registry
History has once again been made with the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. The Library of Congress is the world’s largest library, offering access to the creative record of the United States — and extensive materials from around the world — both on-site and online. It is the main research arm of the U.S. Congress and the home of the U.S. Copyright Office. The National Recording Registry recognizes and honors music that enhance lives and tell a clear story about
life and circumstance. Since the National Recording Preservation Act of 2000 was instituted, the Library selects 25 titles that are at least 10-years-old and have proven culturally and historically significant. With this edition, The LEGACY will spotlight some of the artists from that list and recognize each one’s marking in music history, as well as certain flashbacks that impacted black history, education and messages towards social justice and equality.
