Where Rational of Built Form and Poetic Expression of Design blend.
DREAM HOUSE IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOREST INSTRUCTOR: RUDOLF LÜCKMANN
The project is designed create a dream house in a 5x5x5 meters cube. Fotiá, meaning phoenix in Greek, embraces the first ever approached strategy among styles - an intersection between both rational and sculptural in architecture. “A Rose in the middle of a forest.” A question is given that how to transfer the metaphor into this small cube. A folding technique (Kirigami) as a solution is applied to imitate curves into linear forms and then transform them to 3D dimensional sculpture. Both transparency and solidarity all overed. In terms of function, it is mostly a flexible with a spiral staircase of a connection between levels.

HOUSING PROJECT
ELSÄSSER PLATZ
INSTRUCTOR: ISABELLE LEBER, KARIN DAMRAU, JULIA CHRIST
The subject of inquiry is a housing project, situated directly inside a parking lot at Elsässer Platz Wiesbaden before its renovation. Beginning with an exploration of a range of different spatial typologies including the typical linear housing, doubleheight load corridor, and skeleton construction, the building is proposed to create both rational and sculptural at the same time. The refabrication concrete skeleton system acts not only as a structure but also as the spatial field that organizes and connects all the programs together in a network. The spatial connection is created in both vertical and horizontal directions. The design balances between public and private areas, encouraging an abundance of social encounters. Not only diverse from the outside by its several inspiration element combination from the urban context, all inner spaces design decisions are also developed in both vertical and horizontal directions, creating a distinct experience on each level. By doing that, the project is strengthened itself to become a healthy social lifestyle.

The ground floor plan is designed as a urban park with Cafe/ Bars, a daycare center, bike parking, and housing support to experience a tiny public plaza that extends from the Park. Community and Library program are vertically organized on the 3rd and 4th levels to create a distinct and intimate experience for residents.
Every 4 units are interlocked, lealving a communual space in between, and formulating a flexible free floor plan at the end.
THIRD FLOOR PLAN 1:500

THANH DA PENINSULA
INSTRUCTOR: THU ALEXANDER QUYNH
An office building is designed within a mixed-used area, connected directly to a public park and the Saigon River. The planning strategy of the project aims to create a synchronized blending of greeneries. 2 linear volumes are bent 30 degrees and flipped to propose an open-and-widen concept, serving the office not as a destination, but rather than, is a landscape in motion from different functional parts of the area. 2 meters shifting plates are in use to strengthen human interaction within the building and the surroundings. Staircases played an important role in merging and splitting space, forming a visual hierarchy from public to private. The higher the levels it is, the more connectivity is strictly emphasized. A series of overlapped bright aluminum pipes enveloped the entire building, allowing shadows and lights to penetrate the interior. It will also form a new expression of office typology, where architecture and nature have no boundaries.

COMMUNITY
COMMUNITY HOUSE
THU DAU MOT CITY
INSTRUCTOR: THU ALEXANDER QUYNH
Community House is a project located in Thu Dau Mot City. It focuses on giving to the community a comfortable space for gathering and connecting inside the overwhelmed city atmosphere. The project consists of two parts. Part one focuses on activating the local community by creating community spaces in the city. Part two focuses on helping the locals easier approach our traditional culture and other forms of art through workshops, exhibitions, etc. (making pottery - one of the traditional cultures in Binh Duong for example). The House, which uses a pavilion typology, takes inspiration from the sails, which were a symbol in Thu Dau Mot at that time to create form and slope roofs in different directions. Using friendly environmental materials emphasizes the connection between the project and problems in the environment.

STUDENT HUB
VGU CAMPUS
INSTRUCTOR: STEPHAN SCHÜTZ
The project is situated at the heart of university’s dormitory area. The design’s concept aims to create a new student hub as a link between the existed dormitories and the vacant landscape, predicted to build more dorms in the future. Taking a deep inspiration from the Roman antiquity elements, the amphitheater serves as a focal point, directly connects to the canteen to form a coherent public space. The wood and concrete construction not only shows a harmonious intersection within the context, but also imitates the solid structure from the ancient: the cantilevers of piers and colonnade supporting the whole part of the building. Solid and Void are utilized from the site’s analysis to create “In-and-out” space movement alternately at the end.

DRAWING & SCULPTURE II
INSTRUCTOR: IVAN KUCINA
“An in-depth of form finding through geometrical elements (Hand-crafting), then apply in architectural processes efficiently.”
The details in the sculpture are inspired by my own story and personality - showing a deep passion and appreciation for architecture and art but somewhere is afraid of the eyes of other people. Sculpture are purposefully arranged, creating a multi-dimensional (distinctive in each perspective). from there, viewers can dire it like a piece of art and an exhibition space as well.
