songwriter who also holds the distinction of being the first singer ever to have two Academy Award-nominated songs in the same year (“Through The Eyes Of Love” from Ice Castles and “I’ll Never Say Goodbye” from The Promise) and to perform them both in the same Oscar telecast. She has thrilled musical theatre audiences with her leading roles in the national tours of “Song and Dance” and “Music of the Night,” and she developed a television following as Maddie, the mother of the title character on “Blossom.” More than 25 years after Melissa Manchester released Tribute, her 1989 album that honored the great female singers who influenced her, she turns the tables with The Fellas, a radiant encomium to the men, including Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin, and the iconic songs they made famous. Singing with a verve and emotional vulnerability that immediately captivates, the Grammy winner inventively reimagines these beloved standards. She turns “Chances Are” into a sly bossa nova and scats with seemingly impossible ease on “Love Is Just Around The Corner,” while bringing an understated urgency to “Night and Day.” Many of these tunes embedded themselves into Manchester’s musical DNA while she was growing up on New York City’s Upper West Side. “These were the artists and songs that were on the radio as my family ate dinner,” she says. “I am deeply familiar with this world.” Indeed, Manchester brings a nuanced understanding to the songs’ delicate phrasing and lyrical construction that would baffle lesser singers. Robert Snyder Dining Commons - Located on the first floor of Potter Center is an excellent facility for wedding receptions, banquets and other special events. Most events range from 200 to 275 individuals. The maximum capacity is 325. This allows for an area for dancing and a band or DJ. The Potter Center Patio may be reserved for an additional cost. Food service arrangements must be made through the catering service on campus, Continental Catering. Walker Hall Community Rooms - This area is the ideal place for your next corporate or special event. Jim Brickman Jim Brickman’s distinctive piano style and captivating live performances have revolutionized the popularity of instrumental music, making him a driving force behind modern American music. The hit-making songwriter is the best-selling solo pianist of our time earning 21 Number One albums and 32 Top 20 Radio Singles in the industry bible, “Billboard Magazine.” He’s garnered two Grammy nominations, gospel music’s Dove Award, two SESAC Songwriter of the Year Awards, and the Canadian Country Music Award. With some references and quotes from classics such as “Pinocchio”, “The Little Mermaid”, “Beauty and the Beast”, and “The Golden Fish” (can’t forget “Peter Pan”), “B” is considered a modern fairy tale in which we can all find ourselves, without any age limits…
The Project The well-balanced blend of drama, mime, dance, puppetry, juggling, contortionism, sand art and magic, with the amazing beauty of soap bubbles make “B” unique and perfect for any audience. The visual impact of the show is further enhanced by the original music of Valdis Zilvers (the most famous Latvian composer of soundtracks for theatre plays), the costumes specially designed by E. Patmalniece (popular fashion designer and main costume designer of the Latvian National Opera) and the artistic makeup created by Marita Gaidele (main make-up artist of LNT Latvian Television).
The Style Inspired by the famous Canadian troupe “Cirque du Soleil”, the show is rich in various stage effects using the latest laser technologies, snow cannons, soap bubble tornadoes, theatrical fog, gigantic smoke rings, smoke-filled soap bubble machines, optical illusions and many other surprises.
Adults and children alike will enjoy the show, thanks to the high interactivity and audience participation, the extremely visual content (there are no spoken words as all the show is musical) and the different level of interpretations that will make adults to think and children to smile.
“B” is a visual, musical, emotional and lavish show that transports people in an imaginary underwater world with a real feeling of being submersed in the ocean deep.

ara Evans has had five No. 1 singles, sold millions of records, won the
Academy of Country Music’s Top Female Vocalist Award and claimed a Country Music Association trophy for her signature song, “Born To Fly.” It’s tough to imagine many accomplishments Sara Evans hasn’t already checked off her bucket list. And yet, with the release of her eighth studio album, Words demonstrates that she’s still willing to leap into the unknown, taking greater control of her career and calling the shots in a way that’s unusual in country music – particularly unusual for a woman in the genre. Words is the first project on Evans’ own label: Born To Fly Records, appropriately named after that CMA-winning signature song which celebrated risk and adventure. Much is familiar about Words. Evans’ voice is warm and strong, the songs are authentic and memorable, and the actual words themselves resonate with the realities of everyday life. is titled Words. The songs generate a number of words – flexible, commanding, sassy, daring, loving, hopeful, resilient – that all embody parts of Evans’ inimitable persona. “Songs are a combination of words and melodies, and it’s the words that matter most to me,” she says. “When we go into these pitch meetings, people always ask, ‘What are you looking for? Are you OK with doing something that’s a little more pop?’ I always tell them, ‘Just play me great lyrics.’ That’s what I’m looking for.” Evans co-wrote three of the album’s 14 songs, instinctively picking material along the way that matches her world view. Thirteen additional females racked up writing credits on the project, including Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott, Pistol Annies’ Ashley Monroe, The Isaacs’ Sonya Isaacs, Hillary Lindsey (“Blue Ain’t Your Color”), Caitlyn Smith (“Wasting All These Tears”), Heather Morgan (“Beat Of The Music”) and Liz Hengber (“For My Broken Heart”). Words closes with an acoustic revision of “A Little Bit Stronger,” her pensive, heartbreak anthem that spent two weeks at #1. That latter title represents a look at the journey thus far, one that’s kept Evans firmly in the forefront of country music for a solid 20 years. audience – to a mix of country, pop and rock on the radio. She began singing with the family band when she was five and made her first attempts at recording as a teenager. Her resume now includes 14 Top 20 country hits, ranging from her reassuring first #1 – “No Place That Far,” featuring background vocals by Vince Gill – to the neo-traditional “Suds In The Bucket” to the elegant, spiky pop feel of “Slow Me Down.” Evans has co-authored a trio of books for Thomas Nelson; advocated on behalf of the Red Cross; became an active contributor to the community in Birmingham, Alabama, where she’s lived with husband Jay Barker for nearly a decade; and established a lifestyle blog — A Real Fine Place — that captures her flare for fashion, beauty and cooking.
Emily Ann Roberts, Opening Act Emily Ann Roberts is a 20-year-old singer/songwriter/musician who brings a modern twist to vintage country. As a contestant on “The Voice,” she performed with Blake Shelton and Ricky Skaggs, and was mentored by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton. Roberts finished as runner-up and has since released two singles, “Stuck On Me + You,” and “I’ve Got Forever.”

ith much hard work and through generous community support, Ballet Chelsea has grown into a multifaceted arts organization that provides high caliber dance training, arts education and performance opportunities to students from many mid-Michigan communities. Ballet Chelsea brings cultural enrichment to many through performances, lecture demonstrations and our Adaptive Dance Program. Ballet Chelsea believes in excellence and has been recognized for achievement. Ballet Chelsea received the 2017 Small Business Leadership Award from Chelsea Chamber of Commerce. In 2016, Artistic Director Wendi DuBois was honored as a Touchstone Educator of the Year by Michigan Youth Arts Festival. The success of Ballet Chelsea’s alumni demonstrates the impact of arts excellence as many graduates are performing with professional dance companies, working as leaders in arts management, or educating new generations of artists in colleges and dance schools around the country. These new leaders will continue the tradition of excellence in the arts that they received at Ballet Chelsea building a much broader community of arts supporters. In 2014, Ballet Chelsea opened a new school, offering a broader scope of training in a beautiful, state of the art dance facility. Ballet Chelsea’s staff includes professionals with varied and extensive backgrounds in broad spectrum of dance mediums and performing arts. Our curriculum provides dance opportunities for all ages through preschool classes, recreational programming, adult classes, academy curriculum and professional training. With extensive offerings in many dance disciplines, Ballet Chelsea can reach more individuals who wish to experience the joy of movement and dance.

Ballet Chelsea’s Adaptive Dance Program brings the gift of movement and music to many people who do not have access to dance classes. ADP instructors work with people from the ages 3 – 93 with a wide range of abilities, tailoring each class to the needs and abilities of the participants. The curriculum aids in improving coordination and balance, stamina, flexibility, self-confidence and teamwork. Classes are held throughout mid-Michigan at special education classrooms, residential centers and senior communities as well as at the studios of Ballet Chelsea. This program was first developed in 2015 with financial support from the 5 Healthy Towns Foundation. Numerous supporters include 5 Healthy Towns Foundation, Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, Chelsea Community Foundation, The Wilkinson Foundation, Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan and private donors. Ballet Chelsea offers cultural experiences to many communities through the gift of performance. Jazz Ensemble and Dance Beat! performances highlight contemporary movement at numerous community events, lecture demonstrations at preschools, retirement centers as well as an annual performance open to the public. Ballet Chelsea’s Performance Company collaborates annually with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra presenting the beloved holiday performance of the Nutcracker and other collaborative ventures. The Performance Company also presents an annual spring ballet, repertory concert while participating in numerous smaller performances including Youth America Grand Prix, Michigan Youth Arts Festival, and community performances.
