Improve Your Home’s Energy Efficiency Starting with a Home Energy Evaluation
The best way to optimize your home’s energy efficiency and set you on the path to lower energy bills, is to perform a Home Energy Evaluation.
What is a Home Energy Evaluation? A Home Energy Evaluation is a series of tests that provide an accurate, computerized assessment of your home’s energy efficiency.
What can I expect from the evaluation? You’ll receive a prioritized list of recommendations to improve your home’s energy efficiency. Your list offers ways to increase comfort level, improve indoor air quality and potentially lower your energy bill. The technician also provides you with information about contractors who can make the recommended energy efficiency upgrades or repairs. Once a participating contractor completes the work, your home will undergo follow-up diagnostic tests to compare results to the original tests. After improvements, if the home passes the testing process, you may qualify for additional incentives.

The Home Energy Evaluation begins with a visual inspection to ensure that insulation and air sealing meets current energy standards. A technician then conducts the analysis using specialized equipment to pinpoint potential problem areas. The scientific analysis also measures your home’s air infiltration. If energy upgrades or repairs are needed, you’ll be connected with a contractor in Jackson EMC’s participating contractor network. To participate in the contractor network, all weatherization, insulation and HVAC contractors undergo specialized training and agree to provide high standards of workmanship.
Home performance testing uses the latest technology to: • Measure supply and return airflows • Measure home’s air infiltration • Perform visual inspection of insulation • Test HVAC system performance
Common improvements a home may need: • Installing additional insulation • Air sealing • Sealing, modifying or replacing the duct system • Replacing heating or cooling equipment
home’s heating and air conditioning ducts can leak aled. This could easily result in higher energy bills ms.
How long will the evaluation take? Depending on the size of your home, the Home Energy Evaluation is complete in about two to four hours.
How much does the Home Energy Evaluation cost? Research shows that many home inspections often cost from $250 to $750 and can take as long as six hours to complete. Our evaluation costs an average of $400 for the heating and cooling system and the home performance analysis. Homes with multiple systems will incur additional fees for each system.
