Rent vs.

BUYING

Many First Time Home Buyers are shocked to find out that there are times when it is cheaper to buy verses rent. Instead of paying high rent for apartments, many could be paying less to purchase a home that will give them more living space, more privacy, and more space to entertain and play.

I

n fact the only way to know for sure is to speak with a mortgage loan representive who will take the steps to inform you of the dollar amount of a home that you will qualify for and can give you an idea of what your monthly payments will likely be. On the other hand, one of the major obstacles for many first time home buyers is the lack of having a substantial down payment. However, there may be Down Payment Assistance Programs out there that fit your of income situation. The benefit of knowing what you need to do will put you on the path of home ownership! THE OUTPOUR CENTER

Dr. Thompson, tell us about where you were born and raised. I was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, but I also spent a considerable amount of time in Illinois during childhood. Please share with us your educational background. I graduated from Mississippi College, where I majored in Mass Communications. I later obtained a Doctorate of Divinity. What initially drew you into the ministry and how long have you been in the ministry? I have been in ministry for over 30 years. What drew me into ministry years ago and what continues to draw me is a love for God and for His people.

ABOVE Dr. Resia Thompson

BELOW Pastor Thompson ministers to a married couple.

What motivated you to choose the capital city, Jackson MS, as the headquarters for your ministry?

I know that God has a strategic purpose for the City of Jackson and the state of Mississippi, and I am humbled by the opportunity to help bring it to fruition.

By the grace of God, I have had the privilege of Tell us about The Outsharing the gospel all over pour Center, when was it the world, but I believe that created, and what motivatimpacting and improving ed you to start your own one’s own hometown is ministry? among the greatest witnesses of anyone in ministry. In September of 2010, the Lord instructed me to found Global Glory Christian Center. Less than a year later, He introduced “The Outpour,” a series of services based on His outpouring spirit as seen in Acts 2 and Joel 2. During these services, the Lord challenged us to become a center that would consistently facilitate an outpour of His spirit, and renamed the ministry Kingdom Kabod Outpour Center.

Fun Facts The U. S. Virgin Islands is made of St. Croix, St. John, and St. and St. Thomas. St. Croix is the largest of the United States Virgin Islands – 28 miles long and seven miles at its widest point. The island lies entirely in the Caribbean Sea, with all the beauty and warmth of a tropical destination. However, it is this island’s distinct history and cultural heritage that set it apart from other Caribbean islands. St. Croix is rich in diverse history that remains alive in the architecture, national parks, historic landmarks, botanical attractions, food, music and traditions that are an integral part of island life. One of the yearly events in St. Croix is the Crucian Christmas Festival Winter holidays are celebrated Crucian-style with a unique cultural experience of pageantry, music, food and dancing. St. Croix hosts this festival both in December and January of each year with much jubilation.

St. Johns St. John, the smallest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands, retains a tranquil, unspoiled beauty uncommon in the Caribbean or anywhere else in the world. Settled in the early 1700’s by Danish immigrants attracted to the island’s potential as a sugar cane producing colony, St. John soon blossomed into a thriving economy. The island’s unspoiled forests and stunning beaches attracted the attention of wealthy families who sought privacy and tranquility on the island. In 1956, Laurence Rockefeller was so moved by the island that he bought and donated broad expanses of land to the National Park Service to keep St. John “a thing of joy forever.” St. John was recently voted “Best Island in the Caribbean/Atlantic” by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler in the publication’s prestigious annual Readers’ Choice Awards poll.

COOKING WITH HONEY “ After all, there’s good then THERE’S MISSISSIPPI GOOD!” Mississippi Peach Cobbler This recipe is so quick so easy so delicious you’ll never need another recipe for peach cobbler again! • 2 large cans of sliced peaches, drain all the juice off your peaches • 1 stick of butter melted in your favorite skillet • once your butter is melted add your peaches, allow them to brown in your butter • add 1/3 brown sugar • add 1 teaspoon nutmeg and • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, lightly stir, reduce your heat to low. Allow your peaches to simmer for just a few moments in that wonderful butter and brown sugar mixture . • while your peaches are simmering add a small cup and 1/4 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of flour. Mix well and pour on top of your peaches and give it a light stir • now top with your favorite brand of uncooked biscuits

I use “ MARY B’S BUTTERMILK Biscuit”, you can find them in your frozen food section. • sprinkle a small amount of brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon on top of your biscuits. Toss in a handful of white chocolate chip morsels. Place in the oven at 350°, allow your biscuits to brown and you’re done!!! The only thing that’s missing now is the ice cream. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!!! A HONEY TIP_____ A great way to preserve our liquids from recipes like your peach juice from this one is to use and #recycle your #plastic water bottles. Simply pour your juice into a measuring cup to make it easy to pour it into your water bottle. Place a label on the bottle reminding you the date and the liquid that’s in the container. They work well in the refrigerator as well as in your freezer until you’re ready to use your liquids the next time!
