Clinically, we remained South Florida’s undisputed vanguard in COVID-19 response. Nearly 10,000 COVID-positive patients have been safely discharged from our seven hospitals. We have performed more than 170,000 tests for the virus and vaccinated nearly 180,000 people against it. At the height of the most intense wave, 564 infected patients were admitted at our hospitals, stretching our already weary staff to the extreme limit. Jackson West opens, bringing state-of-the-art medical campus to Doral. Jackson West Medical Center, the first medical campus in the booming City of Doral, opened to the public in August 2021. The campus combines consumer-centered inpatient and outpatient facilities with the latest surgical and medical programs. Designed by the architectural firm Perkins + Will, Jackson West sits on a 27-acre property just west of the Palmetto Expressway on Northwest 25th Street.
Financed through Jackson’s Miracle Building-Bond Program and a generous donor. In 2015, Jackson purchased the property as part of the Jackson Miracle-Building Bond Program. The following year, Jackson Health Foundation received a $10 million donation from the José Milton Foundation in honor of its namesake, José Milton, a well-known Miami businessman who became passionate about

including adult and pediatric emergency rooms, state-of-the-art surgical facilities, diagnostic and imaging services, maternity care services, and specialty physician clinics. The total cost of the project was $336.4 million.
The new medical campus allows Jackson to expand its world-class medical services into some of the county’s fastest-growing residential and commercial communities. Residents in these neighborhoods, including Doral, Westchester, Sweetwater, Hialeah, and Miami Lakes – all of whom helped fund Jackson’s mission now have access to Jackson’s services closer to where they live, work, and play.
On September 20, 2021, José Milton Memorial Hospital at Jackson West Medical Center celebrated a historic milestone. The first baby was born in the new hospital’s Little Miracles Maternity Suites. The bundle of joy, Francesca Barriga, is also the first baby born at a hospital in the City of Doral. You can read about Francesca’s milestone birth and about our luxurious, private maternity suites here.
