HATAITAI ARTIST’S RESIDENCE
Hataitai Artist’s Residence is a a single-person dwelling and workspace located in Hataitai, a small suburb in Wellington, New Zealand. Developed parametrically, the design was developed in direct response to a big problem on the site; a 1:1 4m tall slope that existed at the rear end of the site. The location on site was chosen through an algorithm written in Grasshopper that chose the worst location on site, and a form was derived based on the parameters at that location; slope height, slope angle and contextual building height.
1_Hataitai Artist’s Residence_Exploded Isometric
The end result is an organic form with 4 floors, all accessed through a revolving lift, with the top floor having 360 views over the surrounding village and greenbelt.

Terminus is a conceptual pavilion, developed in response to glacial retreat, a negative effect of climate change. Taking influence from the primitive D.O.C Huts that line the mountain ranges in the area, this pavilion is perched above Hooker River, and looks out over Hooker Glacier Terminal Lake and Aoraki - Mt. Cook. 2_Cut-Away Perspective 3_South Section 4_South Perspective Section 5_Hooker Lake Sizes

THE ARCHITECTURE CENTRE
PAGE 31 OF I
The Architecture Centre is a design proposal for a gallery, library and cafe space on the corner of Cuba and Webb Streets in Wellington. The design concept for the space was a flipped threshold space, responding to the movement of crowds.
15_Webb Street Elevation
When people move in a singular fashion, their movements are fairly linear. When they move in crowds, their movements change in response to their surroundings. This entire design proposal is focused on influencing crowds and direction their movements into areas of compression and release.

New Zealand has a housing crisis. Arlington is a suburb is Wellington that is in need of an upgrade. Developed by Sir Ian Athfield in the 1960s, Arlington is now a place of drugs and crime. The first stage of redevelopment is currently underway, with the second stage to come. This is a design proposal based on a theory developed at the University of Fiji, and is focused around combining a variety of people together to create a unified suburb.
22_Site Plan
Every New Zealander has a unique sense of place, and this sense of place is often linked to New Zealand’s natural landscape. A Sea of Islands is a design proprosal which creates “islands”/sub-suburbs with a unique identity to that area, sitting within a larger suburb. Each region houses a different demographic, and these suburbs join together to create a unified Arlington, through their connection to a newly formed landscape of islands.

HATAITAI CULTURAL CENTRE
PAGE 57 OF I
Hataitai Cultural Centre is a large complex with 4 wings; a gallery, a music venue, a public gallery for the artist’s residence and a private residence for the artist-inresidence. The design focuses on a journey of compression and release, on arrival and departure, and a transition from one space to the next, from darkness into lightness.

ORONGORONGO D.O.C HUT
This set of construction drawings is for a conceptual D.O.C Hut in the Orongorongo Region of Wellington. Constructed using Glulam and timber, this DOC Hut houses up to 20 people at once, and sits next to an estuary. The design was worked through in 4 stages: 1. Initial Concept Planning - Physical Model and Sections 2. Plan, Section and Elevation 3. Junction Detailing 4. Red-Penning and Extruded Drawing Model
