‘Cycle-in’

Year: 2021

Semester: Y3S1

Typology: Adaptive reuse urban cyclist pitstop

‘Cycle-in’ is an adaptive reuse of the former Bedok North Secondary School into an urban cyclist pitstop with remediation as its overarching theme. The project hence aligns with the 2030 Singapore Green Plan and the 2040 Transport Masterplan that advocates the concepts of ‘City in Nature’ and ‘Walk Cycle Ride’ as sustainable modes of mobility.

‘Cycle-in’ is both a Connector and a Destination. It will provide multi-layered cycling connections to the adjacent PCN, transport networks and its neighbourhood. At the same time, the concept of cycling will be well-integrated throughout its spaces and programmes, as well as into its facades and urban furniture to create a new cyclist-centric building typology for a more sustainable future.

Illuminate

Year: 2022

Semester: Y3S2

Typology: Vertical tower of theatre plays

Illuminate is an arts and culture beacon housing theatre production and performance spaces. The aim of my design is to create an all-round immersive theatre experience for the public into both the external form and the internal spaces of the tower.

The tower’s external form is informed by the concepts of cinematic framing and spectatorship, while the translucent mesh outer facade of the tower adds on to its visual porosity.

The tower’s internal spaces are informed by the variety of theatres incorporated into all spaces to allow visitors to paricipate and immerse themselves in both planned and spontaneous perforamances , as well as a chroreographed circulation route that takes visitors through typically back-of-house and production spaces, enabling these spaces and its programmes to be more inclusive.
