5SIGNSTOUPDATE YOURWARDROBE When was the last time you took a long, hard look at the contents of your wardrobe? It may be time to give it an overhaul if you have noticed any of these five warning signs... 1. Your wardrobe is f ul l of it ems t hat you never wear The perfect wardrobe does not need to be enormous, but rather more of a capsule wardrobe consisting of a selection of quality, timeless pieces that you will wear time and time again in different ways. 2. You have several it ems of cl ot hing t hat do not f it You may be saving particular items in the hope that you will fit into them again in the future, or relying on clothes that aren't quite the right size. Bespoke tailroing offers you men's suits and other items that fit perfectly: well-fitted clothing does not just look good, but makes you feel good too. 3. You haven't bought anyt hing new f or years Investment pieces are a great idea, but an entire wardrobe that is old can look dated and worn. HOW TO LOOK TALLER There are a number of men who need a leg up in the style world, it?s needless to say no more so than the chaps with a shorter stature. We have to cut it straight here, we can?t make you grow an extra foot with a magic trick, however, fear not, there are a few simple rules to follow. Use these rules of style and you?ll cast the illusion that you?re much more of a giant than you are. The f undament al s THE GOLDEN RULE: Slimmer is taller ? Remember this. Example: Put a short podgy guy next to a slim and sleek guy who are both exactly the same height, who looks taller? That?s right, the slim guy. Why? It?s because long vertical lines look much longer (taller) than long wide lines. If you?re the first guy, don?t threat ? we?ve got 10 handy tips to make you look slimmer and taller! Read on fellow ewok. THE SEMI-GOLDEN RULE (gold plated?)- To maintain the impression of height it?s important to encourage people to look at you from head to toe and back up again without being distracted by anything that you?re wearing, so lose the playboy belt buckle (1) and bright coloured shoes (2). Keep these two golden rules in mind and you?re winning ? here?s how to make them work; Dark col ours ? Wear dark jeans and a dark coloured top. For example dark jeans and a charcoal grey cardigan/ jumper/ blazer with a light coloured shirt underneath would be a great way to wear dark colours properly. Why? Your body shape is easily streamlined. Low cont rast col ours bet ween garment s ? This applies to shoes, belts and the colour difference between what you wear on your top and bottom half. If you stick to rule 1 and wear dark colours you should maintain this newly found streamlined look by wearing dark shoes and a dark belt. If you were to wear a light coloured belt with dark jeans you?d be putting a horizontal line straight across your middle ? making your middle look wider and consequently making your legs look much shorter. con't pg 5

Wear your hair of f your f ace and never across it - add extra height to your look by wearing your hair off your face, aside from adding extra height by pushing your hair up, you'll also make your face look longer, slimmer and more chiselled. Vert ical st rips on shirt s- almost a cliche but it works. The trick here is to be tasteful, don't go all gangster pinstripe- think more Paul Smith pinstripe. V necks ? V necks are a subtle way to add height. The simple shape of the V is a subtle way of adding more (almost) vertical lines to your look. Essentially the V cut adds more length to your neck where as a crew neck shirt adds more of a horizontal line across your chest and reduces the length of your neck Simpl e cl ot hing wit hout l ot s of det ail - remember that we?re trying to streamline your look, so avoid wearing clothing with graphics, slogans and writing across them. Apart from looking incredibly tacky and unrefined the decoration on theses garments is a total distraction to the streamlined image that you want. Add det ail at t he t op of your l ook ? this means your face. A good hair cut and grooming regime means that people will like looking at your attractive face and this is where we want people to be looking. Take a look at our mens grooming blog. Regul ar rise on your jeans. The rise is a measurement on your jeans, trousers or chinos that essentially determines how far your beltline sits up your torso. High waist jeans would be an example of a high rise, low waist jeans would be a low rise. What I?m saying here is avoid jeans where the crotch is dropped, stick to a regular rise. As a l ast resort , wedges and Boost ers ? stick these in your shoes for a quick boost, you?ll probably get bored after a while, whereas if you dress well and streamline your look you will always feel great, have a look at my last tip; Final l y - Avoid anyt hing chunky or baggy. ? Wide fitting clothing, heavy woollen jumpers, oversize T-shirts or chunky jewellery are all examples of garments that add weight to your look. Remember the golden rule? Slimmer is taller, wear fitted clothing that streamlines your body.

Gay Fashion on a budget t ip Gay men love individual style and fashion, but we don't always have the fat pockets to pull it off. There is a way, however, to look like a million bucks, without spending it. Shop High End. Most of the budgets conscious avoid high end department stores or designer shops because of their expensive reputation. I hear many gawks, as if the front door is an invisible line of wealth and status. To the contrary, many high end stores either have outlet centers or offer year round clearance sales on high fashion items. If you are used to shopping in bargain stores, step it up a notch and try a higher end store. Keep your head high and walk straight to the rear sales rack. Who cares if that Ralph Lauren down-stuffed leather vest was last season? It's marked down 75 percent, and

Boy Scout s t o hire gay man f or camps f or summer 2015, according t o report An out gay man has been hired to work in a Boy Scout camp this summer for the first time, according to an article published on Thursday.
Tessier has hired lawyer David Boies (who is one of the lawyers who challenged gay marriage bans in California and Virginia) to represent him.
The Greater New York Councils of Boy Scouts confirmed they had hired Pascal Tessier, although the Boy Scouts of America has maintained its ban on hiring gay adults.
Richard Mason, a board member of the Greater New York Councils said, "we don't discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. So we've accepted his application on the merits."

A Ref erence Gui de to th e Gay Bear Cul ture Contrary to what some people believe, all gay men aren?t the same. We don?t all enjoy Broadway musicals, dress up in the latest fashions, or walk with too much honey on our hips. Not every single gay man turns his nose up in disgust at sporting events, outdoor activities, or manual labor. The gay male culture is actually a cornucopia of men with different tastes, interests, and body types. We are a microcosm of the American culture just like every other subculture in the world. Not every African American listens to rap nor do all Latinos speak Spanish and watch telanovelas (Spanish soap operas). To believe that every single person within any particular culture is representative of the culture as a whole is not only ridiculous but illogical. Therefore in an effort to increase understanding of the various subcultures within the larger nomenclature that is the gay community, I have decided to write a series of posts aimed at explaining the different types of men who comprise the gay community at large. Now, just to clarify, gay men sometimes uses terms and classifications to identify other groups within our own that often confuses our straight friends. I can?t count how many times I?ve been asked just what is a bear? Once I begin the explanation and delve into the various categories within the bear subculture, their eyes either glass over due to the sheer excess of information provided, or they (and by they, I mean my straight, male friends) will ask what kind of bear am I? For some reason, my straight male friends feel the need to be classified by the terms we use to describe other gay men. And from what I hear from my gay brothers, their straight guy friends pose the same questions to them. Perhaps it?s their need to feel included (no man wants to be left out of any team even if they really play for the opposition!) or perhaps they just want to see exactly how desirable they are to other men. Let?s face it, our straight male friends might not want to slip between the sheets with another man, but they want to at least know what their options were if they did. Therefore as a nod to all my straight male friends, the first group I shall tackle are the lovable, affable Bears.
Definition of Bear: Men in the gay community who have hairy bodies and facial hair. Many are stocky and/ or muscular (generally larger in mass than any other classification of gay men in the community). They often portray themselves as the epitome of masculinity through their rugged appearance and demeanor. Characteristics of a Bear: Typically, Bears are friendly, polite, and easy-going, a far cry from their animal namesake. Their larger body types contain some of the kindest hearts. If a bear were to accidentally step on you at a bar, he would be the first one to apologize and feel awful for potentially hurting you. However, just like their namesakes, a bear is a dangerous gay when provoked and prodded with a stick (no pun intended). Their size alone would be enough to take down an entire gaggle of gays. But unlike real bears, these Bears travel in packs. When you take on one Bear, the entire cave is threatened. What Does a Bear Do in the Woods?: While Bears have a wide range of interests, they are some natural proclivities of the subculture that seem pretty standard. Most Bears enjoy food and drink. Beer is the alcohol of choice. Rarely, do you see a Bear sipping a Cosmo or calling himself a Vegan. They indulge in the simpler pleasure of life such as camping, laying in the sun, or communing with other Bears. Bear Wear: Bears can often be spotted in the wild wearing open flannel shirts exposing their guts and hirsute bodies, combat boots, and baseball caps. They are not slaves to fashion. This is not to say that Bears don?t play dress up. (They are gay after all!) But they are more at home wearing lose fit, extremely casual clothing. cont. pg 10

Local cel ebrit y makes a huge win f or Wil t on Manors After many attempts and a long run around, Wilton Manors downtown finally erected pride banners and flags on the light poles of their city streets. Jaclyn St James who most of you know through social media and a local socialite here has been working around the clock for the last year trying to make this a reality. On June 10th the city trucks were out in full force hanging up the newly purchased Stonewall Street Festival Banners sponsored by the Absolut Co. Although they are not what Ms. St James expected for she wanted full rainbow pride banners, the city Mayor Gary Resnick assured her through email that not only have the banners been purchased and that the city will be erecting them, there will also be pride flags on their way to be delivered and erected on poles as well. Ms. St James was ecstatic when word got to her by email. ?I was working an overnight shift and in the morning I awoke to my cell phone chiming over 40 dings as to new emails.? ?To my surprise it was many people congratulating me for the efforts and to say thanks for all of my hard work, for the banners were erected. Most of all my pride and joy, Mr. Gary Resnick the Mayor of Wilton Manors hanging a pride flag at the City Hall.? ?I said I wouldn?t stop my fight until city hall had a pride flag like many other sister cities in Florida already have erected on the flag poles,? Jaclyn said. Jaclyn also noted that this did
come after the US Census Board announced the second gayest city in America is Wilton Manors, Florida. According to census data, P-Town has 163 same-sex couples per 1,000 households. For comparison, Manhattan only has 19.3 gay couples per 1,000 households. That means New York? with the fashion industry, Broadway, and Andy Cohen's nightstand drawer? is still only a tenth as gay as P-Town. The second gayest city is Wilton Manors, Florida, outside of Ft. Lauderdale, which has 140 gay couples per 1,000 households. ?I am very proud of what I accomplished not only did I get both things I wanted but I rallied up the spirits for my town. I showed that one person can make a difference and now they see that. I drove and video-taped to show others that it can be done and while filming I saw many people filming and taking pictures as well, it made me very happy that I could do this for such a great city which I dearly love?, Ms. St James said. Well we here know we haven?t seen or heard the last of Jaclyn St James. Many people have said she needs to run for office. We here know she?d get our vote for sure. From small town boy to socialite to local celebrity to now local heroine and possibly future congresswo-man! We look forward to seeing more of JACLYN!

HUNTERS CHA NGES THI NGS UP A GA I N Well June has passed and Hunters Nightclub in Wilton Manors is giving us a new look again. The bar has been forever changing its look with in this last past year. Updating the old look of the once dingy Boom and turning this place into a beautiful club. This month Hunters has added a large new Sputnik chandelier, and the upstairs bar is being currently updated and now new railings are going in. Socialite Jaclyn St James says, " It has been very exciting to come in and see all the new changes. Sal DeFalco once Hunters and Boom's bartender who recently passed would have loved to see the new changes. He always told me to accept change and whispered in my ears your gonna love it, it will be fitting for a queen.' And I think Sal is right on this one. Its been an amazing transformation and we look forward to the finish product which bar owner Mark Hunter said, " Hopefully by the end of the year it will be all complete." Well Mark we look forward to it and keep up the great work.

Jul y is Nat ional Ice Cream Mont h
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90 percent of the nation's population. In the proclamation, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities." The International Ice Cream Association (IICA) encourages retailers and consumers to celebrate July as National Ice Cream Month. In 2015, National Ice Cream Day will be Sunday, July 19. Sales of ice cream and frozen desserts rose 2.1 percent to $5.4 billion in the 52 weeks ended August 10, 2014, according to data from IRI, Chicago. Ice cream production reached 894 million gallons in 2012 and 897 million gallons in 2013, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. (Source: Dairy Foods magazine, November 6, 2014) About 9 percent of all the milk produced by U.S. dairy farmers is used to produce ice cream, contributing significantly to the economic well-being of the nation's dairy industry. Founded in 1900, IICA is the trade association for manufacturers and distributors of ice cream and other frozen dessert products. The association's activities range from legislative and regulatory advocacy to market research, education and training. Its 80 member companies manufacture and distribute an estimated 85% of the ice cream and frozen dessert products consumed in the United States. IICA is a constituent organization of IDFA.
