CANYON / The canyon concept emerges from the representational meaning of this natural occuring phenonmenon, whereby a sign of life can be deteched whilst its form is distnguished by its verticality. Rock formation process also sheds lights on the design of the facade which uses different thickness to illustrate the piling up of layers. This perhaps echoes with the formation of skyscapers. SHORTCUTS / The initial massing of the site takes the concept of shortcuts, which represents biological activities in the city, to craete faultlines that break up the large site into fragments. This act is also a oppositional response to the adjacent facilities, such as the DFO, where the site is dominated by a single structure.
