This project was given as a branding assignment. We were tasked with creating a logo suite and expnding through out various elements such as a gameboard, the box, cards, and the instruction manual. This project was broken up into two separate projects, the logo and the game.

The game I decided to create was titled Cartel Corners. This boardgame has the same gameplay and instructions as the boardgame Monopoly. Cartel Corners is a mafia themed version of Monopoly. My inspirations were movies such as The Godfather, Good Fellas, and Scarface. I designed with the same color theme as the typical mob themes which are usually always black, white, and red.

This project was given as a packaging assignment. The objective was to create a beer, rootbeer, or ginger ale company for the time period from 1920s-1940s. The company we picked must have elements designed based on the era we chose.

The company I chose to create is called Idlewild. Idlewild is beer company that was created during the 1920s-30s. This beer company was named after the city it is based on, Idlewild, Michigan. During the 1930’s, Idlewild was popularly visited during the summer and winter by people from all over but more specifically African Americans. During this time period, there were no places for African Americans to vacation to until the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964. Idlewild, Michigan was the number one vacation spot and it was best known for its beautiful lakes, mountains, creeks, and scenery. Idlewild was created as a tribute to the once popular and nature filled city.

Blueprint Architectural Publication Trade Journal

BluePrint Architectural Publication

04

The goal of this project was to create a publication of a specific trade. The trade journal is for people who are familiar in the specific trade and are interested enough to read a journal about it. The purpose of the project is to see how we use space to design in publication.

I decided to create an architectural publication titled Blueprint. The name was inspired by what architects use as math based guides to build architectural infrastructures such as homes, schools, buildings, stadiums, and outdoor spaces. The purpose of this book is to educate architects or people interested in architecture about new buildings, how they were built, and what materials were used while building them.

Situated on a sloping hillside with ocean views in a typical residential neighborhood, this project was an extensive renovation of an uninspired house that failed to take advantage of the obvious assets of the property: the views.

The project was assigned as a branding assignment. The assignment was to create a conference/event and successfully brand it. The requirements were to first create a primary and secondary logo and a book describing how to use the logo. The second part was to design the event itself, with collateral and all.

Promo Poster ( 24x36 )

I came up with a musical festival based in Honolulu, Hawaii named Splash Bash. The event had to be branded with elements that visually represent the city it is being held in. Since Splash Blash is being held in Honolulu, I used water, hibiscus leaves, and beach elements to design the logo. Splash Bash is a three day music festival. Wristbands, lanyards, and t-shirts are given to those who attend. This is a summer event held in the middle of June with numerous famous musical artist and groups.

NO PEACE NO JUSTICE

06

This project was originally assigned as a skateboard project. We were tasked with designing a skateboard for a social movement of our choosing. The challenge was using a specific art style given to us by our instructor to design with. A slogan of 5 words or less must be used on the board.

I chose the Black Lives Matter movement as my social movement and I designed the skateboard with a World War II propaganda style. The slogan I used was “No Peace No Justice. The skateboard I design has an illustration of a police officer standing over a neighborhood of African Americans living their everyday lives. The officer is holding his nightstick in a way of being prepared to strike someone if they were to step out of line. The people do not look in his direction but they are aware of his prescence. I expanded this skateboard into a #NoPeaceNoJustice campaign including a bustop and social media ad.

The objective was to choose a smaller shopify company that exists already and recreate their website. The company had to sell goods that were the main product of that company. Companies like Lids and Thursday Boots were examples.

The company website I chose to recreate was Callaway. Callaway is a golf company that sells all golf equipment such as irons/sets, golf balls, gloves, hat, tees, and golf bags. My website had to include an shop, add to cart, and about page. I also designed three advertisements for Callaway. Each for a different social media network.

a Lonely Letter Children’s book

a Lonely Letter

08

This was my senior capstone project. We had to create a project that had a purpose. Everyone had to vote on each other’s idea to see if the idea was capstone worthy. Our capstone then went on to be reviewed by the committee of the graphic design program.

For my senior capstone, I decided to create a children’s book titled “A Lonely Letter”. This book is about the letter A, who does not recognize his identity and goes to different areas throughout the city to find his answer. As he goes through the book, he becomes very lonely seeing other letters playing and having fun. At the end he discovers where he truly belongs when he runs into another letter “a”. This book is created to teach the alphabet, literacy, and word association. The deeper meaning is to teach all kids that everyone is important and they have a special place in the world.
