Magazine Article This project required creating a photo manipulation of a subject pertaining to an issue in society. Body shaming. Skinny, thin, big, plus size, tattoos, skin conditions, skin colors.. the list goes on. To create this project, magazine cutouts and a tape measurer were used to portray the message of all types of body sizes and women measuring themselves to fit into society’s view.

Packaging Traveling back to the 1940s, this project is based off the style of propaganda posters created during World War II. The use of hand painted brushstrokes and hand lettered type design in these propaganda posters inspired me. Screenprinting was used in most if not all root beer bottles in the 1940s so I took a challenge adding the neck label on the bottle in that method.

Illustration/Typography For this project, I needed to create a poster that gives the most important things to know about type and typography in general. The main goal for this infographic is if this was given to someone who wasn’t a graphic designer, would this make sense? Would they be able to know what kerning is and the difference hierarchy in type makes? To make things clear, I decided to give each section their own importance by giving them their own color block.

Publication/Illustration This project is a series of travel posters and a travel guide for the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The posters are handled in a watercolor medium to best portray an underwater effect. Highlighting important facts, things to do, travel, stay, and dining, each section is packed with plenty of information. Bringing in elements of watercolors ties into the location perfectly, and included in the end of the guide are fun fish stickers!

Illustration This PSA poster project was created for the topic of animal testing for beauty products. This issue is something that I believe has been around for a while and still is to this day. Many makeup/beauty companies test their products on animals and harm them physically and emotionally. This project gave me a different perspective on the three-dimensionality of design and that some things just need to be made by hand to get the full effect.

Branding/Illustration/Web Design The Dublin Murder Squad is a book series of murder mystery and thriller by Tana French. I’ve always been interested in a lot of crime and murder mystery shows, so following along with each story was no trouble. Required for this project are 3 book jackets along with other collateral. I chose to create a website informing about the books, a shop page, as well as typographic posters with quotes from main characters in each book. Use the QR code to view the website!

Motion Graphics/Web Design This project was a group project creating a commerical for Visit Hattiesburg. Working with a small team was an experience. One member created the animation for the logos, another member gathered footage, and I created the script and type animations. In this commerical, we tried to highlight many of the exciting things Hattiesburg has to offer. For an expansion, I created a website that relates back to the things highlighted in the commercial. Motion Graphics For this motion 2 project, I was assigned to create an animated poem of our choice. I’ve always had an interest in Maya Angelou’s work, and this poem really spoke to me and hinted at the problems society were facing heavily at the time. Required was my own voice over, and while I hated that part of the project, I had a lot of fun with the expressive colors and type. Use the QR code to view the animated poem!

Branding/Packaging/Web Design This is an Estonian culture inspired coffee shop branding identity project. After much research, bonfires are really important in the Estonian culture because it brings good health and success, and the geometric patterns in their clothing have symbolic meanings and mimic cross-stitching as well. Coffee bags and a lookbook for potential investors for the coffee shop were required pieces. I added a website design showcasing the Estonian traditions as well as informing about the coffee flavors and coffee shop in general. Use the QR code to view the website!

Branding/Illustration/Packaging For my senior capstone, I decided to base my project on something I would enjoy researching and designing for. Being a Vietnamese-American, I felt that it is important to stay connected to my culture and other children and people should do the same. This research project is Vietnamese education for toddlers with the main product being flashcards. I also created packaging, an animal sounds booklet, and advertisements. My design choices were geared towards children, and doing extensive research lead me to a lot of my decision making when creating these pieces.
