The approach to the house along a hidden grass driveway provides brief glimpses of the house through the trees. As we approach we expect the entrance and parking to be up front, but it’s actually around the side. We enter into the main living space or nucleus of the house.
Both the kitchen and dining room are ample size to accommodate any number of guests
From the door there are two main paths, one to the cooking and dining area the second to Rosalie’s home office where she can receive and treat patients, as well as think and write. There is a balcony adjacent to the dining area, in case Emmet wants to grill or if they wish to simply eat dinner outside.
Emmet’s office is just outside of the cooking area so he can easily prepare himself a midday snack. Like Rosalie’s office, his has windows that overlook Lake Marburg. Adjacent to his office and abutting the main living space is a small bathroom.
The second main room in the house is Emmet and Rosalie’s bedroom which has a set of ribbon windows providing nearly 360 degree vantage of the outdoor trees and lake. Their bedroom has an adjoining private bathroom.
Slightly further down the site is a guest house equipped with its own bedroom and bathroom, but no kitchen appliances. Emmet and Rosalie want to be gracious hosts and cook for their guests, although they do want them to have a private place to return to at night.
