Perspective Sketches

Mapping Activity Site is located along scholars walk, a vital pathway through campus The benches are unoccupied for nearly all observations, demonstrating the low variety of usage in the space Observations show strong pedestrian circulation along the East–West axis of the site Within the University Campus the location is an entry and exit point for students and staff

3

Mechanical Engineering Courtyard Site Design

Objectives Create a design that encourages the multifaceted use of the space Provide a variety of seating options throughout the courtyard Use trees and grade changes to establish numerous degrees of enclosure Establish a landform that coincides with the flow of circulation in the greater campus context

Understanding Landscape Space Form Exploration

Context Create abstract form that is inspired from natural objects Goal Further understand how space can be manipulated

Understanding Landscape Space Form Exploration Drawing of Michaelangelo’s David and Goliath

Context Create abstract form that is inspired from a work of art Goal Further understand how space can be manipulated

4

Understanding Landscape Space Landform Context Schematic Drawings

Context Create a landform resembling a campground without use of retaining walls and coinciding with boundary contours that containing: large gathering spaces, intimate spaces, tenting areas Goal Promote exploration of landform by limiting site lines and providing dynamic spaces with both prospect and refuge

Understanding Landscape Space Mississippi River Site

Upper Plaza Design Objectives Provide open, easily accessible space with a variety of seating Cater to the high-heel wearing downtown professional on their lunch break Provide different levels of enclosure with an overhead canopy Create a water feature that pulls pedestrians into the plaza

Central Green Space Objectives Create a space with a welcoming entrance that faces the school Provide green space for kids to play and relax Establish a large portion of the site that can infiltrate storm water

4

Understanding Landscape Space Mississippi River Site

Library Space Objectives Provide library users the option to sit outside Have seating catered towards the individual Create overhead enclosure with canopy trees Design railings that can be used as desk space

Mississippi Deck ObjecCreate a space that enhances user experience on the Mississippi River Provide dynamic seating that feels intimate and unique Design overhead structure that alters lighting and encloses the space Give users direct access to the river for activities and boat landings
