The concept behind the creation of this project was to use subtraction to cut out pieces of the massing of the site to create a sense of community within the apartments, while offering important key views of the site with the exterior cut out common spaces. The organization of the spaces were set up in a grid to keep the plumbing walls and shear walls unified from the second to the third floor, while the first floor is made of Type 1 Concrete Podium. The apartments are made at market rate, having a Art Studio, Antique Store and Barber shop in its commercial areas. Following the concepts of subtraction, the edges the apartments were subtracted at an angle, to create an interesting play with light and shadow in elevation. The main Stairway offers a break from the facade by having glass exterior with louvres offering shade, allowing light to flow in and out during the night.

The concept behind this project was to emphasize the views of the site, which led the design and organization of the project as a whole to become a bridge and a cantilever hybrid. The organization of the project is split in two, with the majority of one side of the bridge and cantilever being the the private/living spaces, the other side and downstairs area being the work space portion, while the exposed tower portions act as the circulation between it all. With the facade, the idea to keep the views of the surrounding site was at most importance, so the inclusion of a panoramic floor to ceiling glass window stretching along both sides of the bridge is able to capture all sides of the mountains beautiful scenery.

SMITHSONIAN MUSEUM OF THE LATINO AMERICAN Fall 2023 Instructor: Irma Ramirez Software: Rhino, Adobe CS, Lumion In Collaboration with Landscape Architects Washington D.C
The concept behind this project was to emphasize the history of the Latino American people through the architectural design of the museum. Through the design of the building, we focused on the idea of the axis mundi, as it was a important aspect of Meso-american history, that is at the core of many things that make us latino today. As the site itself sits on a 10 foot base difference from one side to the other, the axis mundi played perfectly with the site, as you start in the Underworld portion of the museum showing Meso-american history and their eventual colonization, then it moves to the earth portion showing the struggles and progress as time moved on, and then we get to the top of the museum at the other end of the site, showing the present on how far we have come in this country and how interconnected the histories are , and the hopeful potential for the future. The exterior design facade differences also dictate which portions of the site are for public use, which can be used when the museum itself is closed, and which are the private areas, being the museum itself, so the that project can also be of use for the community.
