Een dagje naar het meer is goed voor ogen en geest, van zonsopgang tot zonsondergang. Malcesine, Bardolino, Lazise e Garda zijn slechts enkele van de mooiste plekjes waar je kunt genieten van de zon of van een duik. Er zijn grind- en zandstranden, soms uitgerust met

beachvolleybalvelden en een speeltuin voor kinderen. Gemakkelijk bereikbaar met de auto, per fiets of te voet, en in sommige gevallen toegankelijk voor rolstoel-gebruikers. Er zijn voornamelijk vrij toegankelijke stranden en daarnaast boulevards met restaurantjes waar je ligbedjes en parasols kunt huren.

Il nome di Verona è legato per tradizione al celebre Pandoro, brevettato a fine Ottocento dal signor Melegatti e diventato cibo simbolo di tutte le tavole natalizie italiane. È un prodotto ricco ed elaborato dall’anima artigianale. Molti dolci veronesi hanno il miele tra gli ingredienti – non a caso proprio a Lazise ogni anno a Ottobre si tiene la mostra mercato internazionale ‘I giorni del Miele’ –, oppure quale abbinamento migliore se non quello tra miele e formaggi. Verona vanta un importante riconoscimento D.O.P, il Monte veronese di malga, un formaggio prodotto durante l’alpeggio delle mucche e tutelato da Slow Food, insieme ad altri prodotti caseari veneti lavorati tradizionalmente in antiche malghe. E poi ci sono i frutti della terra, di cui il tartufo nero del Monte Baldo è il principe tra

Am Ende des Achtzehnten Jahrhunderts erfand ein Signor Melegatti von Verona, den heute wohl berühmtesten Weihnachtskuchen Italiens, den Pandoro, den traditionellen Weihnachtskuchen der auf keiner Weihnachtstafel fehlt. Viele Veroneser Süßspeisen sind mit Honig zubereitet, und nicht zufällig findet jeden Oktober in Lazise eine internationale Honigausstellung ‘I giorni del Miele’ statt – und welch herrliche Kombination, Honig und Käse. Verona rühmt sich eines Käses mit der Auszeichnung D.O.P., der Monte veronese di malga, ein Käse aus der Milch der Alpenkühe und geschützt von Slow Food, zusammen mit weiteren Produkten die in in traditioneller Weise in den alten Almhütten hergestellt werden. Dann sind da die Spezialitäten unter der Erde, der Trüffel ganz vorn, der Tartufo nero del Monte Baldo zwischen November und März, der gern als Risotto gegessen wird. Im Oktober werden in San Zeno di Montagna die Maroni gefeiert, die Marrone di San Zeno D.O.P.

Diese werden traditionell gekocht serviert, als ‘marronata’. Und dann natürlich noch das ‘grüne Gold’ des Gardasees, das Olivenöl extravergine ‘Garda’ D.O.P. Der Gardasee hat ein einzigartiges Mikroklima das ein ganz besonderes Öl produziert. Man kann das Olivenöl bei verschiedenen Herstellern probieren.

De naam van Verona is gekoppeld aan de traditie van de beroemde Pandoro, gepatenteerd in de late negentiende eeuw door de heer Melegatti en het eten is een symbool geworden voor alle Italiaanse Kerst tafels. Het is een rijk product bereid volgens oude tradities. Veel Veronese nagerechten hebben honing als ingrediënt .Ook is er elk jaar in oktober een internationale tentoonstelling in Lazise ook wel de ‘Honing dagen’ genoemd, waar ook de beste combinatie gevonden wordt tussen honing en kaas. Verona heeft een belangrijke erkenning ook wel D.O.P genoemd, de Monte veronese uit Malga, een kaas geproduceerd in de hoge bergweide en beschermd door Slow Food tezamen met andere traditionele zuivelproducten uit Veneto.
