Learn The Craft Of Manicures At Nail School Manicures and pedicures have grown in popularity over the past five thousand years, producing ever increasing styles and designs. The number of specialties that a student at nail school have to take, and general nail curriculum requirements, has grown as well. A manicure has changed to incorporate massages, treatments and modern applications of designs from the simple shaping of fingernails and putting on a little nail polish. A nail student must learn the following non-exclusive set of topics to be able to stay current. Acrylic Liquid and Powder Brush on Nails You'll mix the acrylic liquid and the powder to make the acrylic nails. Cutting them down to size, shaping, appropriate application, correct removal, and better preservation are common topics to be covered in nail school. There are numerous benefits and drawbacks that a manicurist need to know about acrylic nails. Some clients will love having stronger nails that are simple to paint, while other clients won't be so keen on them looking “fake." A manicurist can help guide a client’s decision to or not to get acrylic nails. When the manicurist is a student, they will learn the approaches to correctly take off the acrylic nails so they don't trigger any skin issues. Nail Tips In some manicurist circles, the nail tips have taken on some type of art form. Acrylic tips can be attached to natural nails, and painted in vibrant designs and patterns. A combination of liquid and powder resin will form a paste to create the acrylic nail tips, which are then smoothed, dried and hardened to look like natural nails. The new dry nail will be further filed and buffed by the manicurist, and polish with either a brush or airbrush will then be applied. Airbrushing is often used to apply a design or to produce French tips. Nail Wraps and Repairs Using nail wraps and other methods, the manicurist is going to be taught how to repair broken nails. Nail wraps to protect fragile nails and to repair splitting areas are going to be particularly useful for those with delicate nails. Nail Art Mini works of art, complicated designs, small decals and imitation jewels all will be included for manicures. Nails have grown to be a tiny canvas for art designs and some manicurists may choose to specialize in this area. Water & Oil Manicures Hot water manicures will be the norm. You'll nourish hands and nails with moisturizing oils when you invest in a hot oil manicure. This is especially good for those with dry brittle hands and nails. Pedicures
