FEBRUARY 2024 *1st EDITION* FALL 2023 HIGHLIGHTS
DIVE IN! “AIM HIGH BEAR DOWN!”
FALL SEMESTER HIGHLIGHTS REVEILLE CEREMONY Each school year the Wildcat Wing runs a Reveille Ceremony in the Fall and a Retreat Ceremony in the Spring. These photos show both GMC & POC cadets completing the Reveille Ceremony. Reveille originates from the French word "wake up" and it began as a way to wake up military personnel at dawn for assembly of the troops and roll call. It signified the beginning of the official duty day.
TEACHING AND DEMONSTRATING Throughout the semester our POC Corps help guide and teach our GMC valuable leadership skills through various mediums like drill, procedures, uniform wear, and color shift ceremonies.
REMEMBERING PEARL HARBOR On December 7th, 2023, our very own Detachment 020 Honor Guard participated in a ceremony along the USS Arizona memorial here on campus. This event was a 12-hour silent vigil from 5 a.m.to 5 p.m. It was organized in order to pay tribute to the 2,403 valiant men and women in our armed forces who tragically lost their lives on December 7th, 1941 at Pearl Harbor.

FALL SEMESTER HIGHLIGHTS COMBAT DINING-IN Det 020 had the privilege of joining the 55th Rescue Squadron at Davis Mothan AFB for a very fun Halloween themed combat dining in.
OPERATION HONOR VIP Callsign "Gizmo" The MSG Squadron launched Operation Honor, in which the weekly honor points leader took on the duty of safeguarding the VIP Callsign "Gizmo". That flights primary objective was Gizmo's safety, ensuring his safe and secure transport while maintaining impenetrable security at all times.
FLAG FOOTBALL
BATTLE OF ARIZONA On October 27th, 2023, UofA, ASU, NAU, and Embry Riddle came together for The Battle of Arizona, a joint PT competition. Activities were used as competition and points were rewarded to whichever detachment won each event. Healthy competition is a great way to push ourselves physically and mentally and work on our teamwork. This time around, Embry Riddle clinched the victory with a one-point advantage, claiming the top position, while UofA secured the second spot as the runner-up. We hope to come back and win next time this event occurs!
The Wildcat Wing also participated in multiple friendly flag football games with both the Navy & Army Detachments here at the UofA. These photos are from the close and heated matchup between Air Force and Army ROTC which ended in a 30-24 Air Force Victory! Not pictured are the photos from the win against the Navy but Air Force also won that match-up 28-21, completing the season undefeated!

NEWSLETTER ORIGINS
NEWSLETTER (n.) Defined as: "a report containing news intended for general circulation” - information for the public. (News, military announcements, court news.) The earliest physical published newsletter can be found as early as 131 BC. These were government gazettes containing information for the public. Modern day newsletters blend community engagement with informative content, forming a dynamic piece of writing that serves as both real-time gossip and intelligence collection. Newsletters and newspapers frequently overlap in content while making it a goal to give readers different angles on the news
WILDCAT WING TRADITION
The Wildcat Wing Newsletter should hopefully exist as a piece of writing that effectively portrays our lives as cadets and the interesting opportunities that we get to be a part of as a member of Detachment 020.
The Wildcat Wing has not had a newsletter in some time so this is a tradition that I hope can be implemented into the wing structure for the future to come. It is important to note that this newsletter will be something the cadets of this wing and AFROTC affiliated parties will enjoy reading. Help us curate it! Please reach out to C/Adams about ideas or things you want to change about the content or formatting for the next edition in March!
