2020 JUNIOR ATHLETES ANTI-DOPING EDUCATION WORKSHOPS

As part of the continued effort to ensure that its target audiences are kept informed about anti-doping, the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission hosted the 2020 series of the Junior Athletes Anti-Doping Education Workshops virtually during the month of November. In the past, the workshops were held face to face in four regions across the island during the month of October. However, as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic the workshops were held via Zoom.

Over 300 junior athletes and their support personnel participated in the seventh annual Junior Athletes Anti-Doping Education Workshops. The first workshop of the 2020 series was held on November 4, for secondary schools within the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Thomas and St. Catherine. The second of the series was held on November 5, for secondary schools within the parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth. The third of the series was held on November 11, for secondary schools within the parishes of Westmoreland, Hanover, St. James and sections of Trelawny and the final in the series was held on November 12, for secondary schools within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary, Portland and sections of Trelawny.

Participants that joined the workshops were provided with information on COVID-19 safety guidelines implemented by JADCO, valuesbased education, as well as information on the role and responsibilities of JADCO, the doping control process during COVID-19 and the social consequences of doping.
