Future developments
Roles and relations between TTC, Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx
Mark joined Metrolinx in its infancy in late 2007 and has served in a number of leadership roles with accountabilities across the lifecycle of major capital projects, including project development and business case development, program management, pre-construction services (environmental assessments, property acquisition, third party agreements and utility coordination). His experience spans a variety of major capital projects including the LRT and GO rail programs.
Mark joined the Subway Delivery team in August 2019 as the Program Sponsor for the Scarborough Subway Extension. He then assumed the role of Vice President for the Scarborough Subway Extension, followed by Executive Vice President for both the Scarborough and Yonge North Subway Extensions.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER
THOMAS DALMALM
Sweden Infrastructure Perspective
Project Delivery, Future of Industry, Lessons Learned
Thomas has a degree in civil engineering and a Ph.D. in soil and rock mechanics. He worked for the Swedish contractor NCC for 15 years before joining the Swedish Transport Administration in 2007. He is active in the field of geotechnical engineering with special emphasis on rock tunnels. He is responsible for the Transport Administration’s regulations for tunnels and for client design approval for construction.
Some say the infrastructure industry in Sweden has been booming for the past 20 years while others say it is the new normal. To handle the boom, new methods for procurement and delivery have been tried, however, looking back in the mirror, old methods with some adjustments might have been more successful for delivering infrastructure projects on time, on budget and to agreed scope. This keynote address will focus on the development of the infrastructure industry in Sweden, it’s development during the last 20 years and lessons learned from procurement and delivery.
