Summer is here – and with it comes the news that Jaguar has won the Best Manufacturer award in the What Car?/J.D. Power Survey for the third year in a row. Outstanding cars, excellent service and reasonable costs are just some of the reasons. It’s a proud achievement. The riders in Team Sky know how tough it is to be a winner. This year, in the Tour de France, they are on Pinarello Dogma F8 bikes that have been developed with Jaguar technical input. And if you fancy emulating them, you can read all about our Ride like a Pro plans for the season. Alternatively, if you’re planning a tour on four wheels, don’t forget our summer health checks and fixed price servicing offers. As always, for more news, just visit our website.

F-TYPE R COUPÉ TOPS AUTOCAR GROUP TEST.

Porsche 911 Turbo S. Audi R8 4.2. Nissan GT-R. Three high performance cars with big reputations. But in a recent Autocar Group test, a new contender saw them all off. Winning an impressive 4.5 out of a possible 5 in the Autocar star rating, the new Jaguar F-TYPE R Coupé won the group test outright and showed why it’s good to be bad. With a 550PS supercharged V8 powering the rear wheels, the Jaguar delivered huge thrills on the open road. Yet its chassis was never overwhelmed by the massive power. As Autocar’s test team noted, ‘the F-TYPE R flaunts its sublime front-engined, rear-drive balance at every opportunity,’ adding, ‘the subtlety and obedience of the breakaway isn’t far short of astounding.’

Their conclusion nails just why the new F-TYPE Coupé amassed its near-perfect star rating. ‘Its huge, atmospheric and rousing handling at one end would be less remarkable were they not mingled so keenly with a sense of genuine companionability at the other. That breadth of ability…makes the F-TYPE R not only the most compelling sports car on sale but also one of the best. Period.‘ To decide if you agree with Autocar’s testers, book your test drive today.

Jaguar’s association with Team Sky has seen two Brits top the podium of the Tour de France in two successive years, as well as many other cycling victories. The sight of an XF Sportbrake in Team Sky colours following the likes of Chris Froome or Sir Bradley Wiggins up an alpine ascent is etched in every sport fan’s memory. For 2014, the partnership has deepened. Because the Pinarello Dogma F8 bikes that Team Sky riders will be competing on have been developed with the help of Jaguar aerodynamic technology. THE NEW JAGUAR XE, WITH LESS THAN 100 G/KM CO2.

The new Jaguar XE is set to be the most advanced, efficient and refined sports saloon in its class, according to Kevin Stride, Jaguar’s Vehicle Line Director for XE. Together with his colleagues in design and engineering he’s confident that the new XE will not only meet tough new efficiency criteria, but surpass them. It will be the most fuel efficient vehicle in its class with sub 100 g/CO2. Without

FEARLESS DESIGN AT CLERKENWELL

For the fourth year running, Jaguar was the headline sponsor of Clerkenwell Design Week, championing the best of British design talent at the UK’s leading independent design festival. Jaguar sponsored a design competition on social media on the theme ‘Fearless Design’. The winning design, which appeared during the Clerkenwell Design Week as a body wrap on an F-TYPE Coupé, was created by freelance interior designer and architect, Justin Silke, and was entitled ‘Untamed Creativity’. Jaguar also held an exclusive, invite-only evening event with the Jaguar Design team where the invitees were able to submit their ideas for “the Jaguar of their dreams” and see them designed there and then. Design ideas included several Jaguar Le Mans models, revised XJS and even a bespoke accessory to attach golf clubs to the rear of the car. F ind out more about design at Jaguar.co.uk

IAN CALLUM MAN OF INFLUENCE THE ESSENCE OF GOOD DESIGN IS FORM, FUNCTIONALITY AND DESIRABILITY. IT HAS TO FIND THE BALANCE.

As Jaguar’s Chief Designer, Ian Callum’s vision has been key to Jaguar’s success. If anyone can point to the importance of design in creating success, it’s him. So no surprises that the renowned LinkedIn Influencer programme has invited him to join their group of 500 global industry leaders. With a mission to inspire creativity and leadership in business, Ian joins Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Richard Branson and Arianna Huffington. Ian will engage in the programme by sharing his thoughts

delivers on his design goal to produce a car that’s as beautiful to look at as it is to drive.

The emotional and physical connection to driving is essential to Ian’s work. “The essence of good design is form, functionality and desirability. It has to find the balance.” Which is why he amasses as much information as possible before he starts work.

Ian Callum’s passion for creating highly prized cars continues to grow and he’s already busy working on his next project, to design a Jaguar even better than his pride and joy, the F-TYPE.

By understanding the challenges from every angle, Ian is then free to create something that works for people and enriches their experiences. And ultimately

AN EVENING OF GAME CHANGING INSIGHT ON JUNE 12TH, SOME OF UK’S BUSINESS LEADERS GATHERED TO GIVE THEIR INSIGHT ON HOW COMPANIES ARE MANAGING CHANGE AND ACHIEVING EXCEPTIONAL SUCCESS DESPITE A WORLDWIDE RECESSION.

JAGUAR HOST DOMINIC LAURIE BBC BUSINESS NEWS PRESENTER

GUEST SPEAKER JUSTIN KING CHIEF EXECUTIVE SAINSBURY’S

GUEST SPEAKER JEREMY HICKS MANAGING DIRECTOR JAGUAR LAND ROVER

Q: Dominic When you look back on some of the business decisions you have made, which ones do you feel have made a significant impact? A: Justin “I think we realised that we had lost sight of the needs of our customers which is why we needed to become more universal in our appeal, and that’s what we try and be today. And that’s where we’ve been successful during the economic downturn.” Q: Dominic If you are going to be seen as a ‘game changer’, how do you manage to influence the people who work for you? A: Justin “For me, it is about being relentless in communication, setting a clear goal for the long term and communicating it throughout the company. It is also key for me to be accessible and visible at all levels so that the business is managed in the same way from top to bottom. And because of this I make it my job to be closer to the coal face of the company than any senior member in the business.”

Q: Dominic What decisions have you made that could be termed a ‘game changer’ – ones that really made a difference? A: Jeremy “Bringing Jaguar and Land Rover into one business. We could have been two competing businesses but by combining them it’s made us much more powerful, more agile and more desirable. Also it was important to set a clear vision where both businesses are going – for example, it’s our goal to treble the size of the Jaguar business by 2019.” Q: Dominic In today’s climate, how can you have such ambitious goals? A: Jeremy “Because the opportunities are there. At the moment, we’re posting growth in the region of 20% year-on-year. But if we broadened our appeal, and had a model for every segment, imagine the possibilities. It’s just getting the basics right, and we’re on track already.”

Q: Dominic So would you say success is all about change? A: Jeremy “Yes and no. Just look at the F-TYPE. We’re going back to the old values. Creating a stunningly beautiful car that drives well, that people really want, and making it good value for money. Whilst also ensuring it’s at the cutting edge of engineering excellence. It’s about being able to deliver both.” Q: Dominic Does Jaguar have a glass ceiling limit on where it can go? A: Jeremy “No. Take the smaller XE launching soon, it’ll create a new platform for us, one where we can create a lot of different Jaguar’s, making the Jaguar brand accessible to a wider audience.”

RIDE LIKE A PRO.

VIVE LE TOUR!

HOME RUN

This year, Yorkshire hosted the Grand Départ of the Tour de France, giving British fans the chance to see the giants of modern road cycling up close and personal. Naturally, Team Sky’s XF Sportbrakes were in the thick of the action.

Even when the excitement of Le Tour is over, we have our own stage race to look forward to. The Tour of Britain runs from September 7-14 and the current champion is a certain Sir Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky. Will he be back to defend his title? Full team line-ups weren’t announced at the time of going to press but you can find out more on www.tourofbritain.co.uk

Team Sky leader and 2013 winner Chris Froome attempted to repeat last year’s success – while rivals like Alberto Contador and Vincenzo Nibali were fighting him every inch of the way. Stage one started on Saturday 5 July, from Leeds to Harrogate through the glorious Yorkshire Dales. York to Sheffield and Cambridge to London, on the 6 and 7 July, concluded the UK legs of Le Tour.

BELFAST IN THE PINK Unlike Le Tour’s coveted yellow jersey, the leader of the Giro d’Italia wears pink – and Belfast hosted the opening stage of the event on May 9 with shops, streets and spectators entering into the spirit with a blizzard of pink throughout the city. To celebrate the Giro d’Italia and Jaguar’s sponsorship of Team Sky, Jaguar teamed up with pro cyclist Peter Kennaugh and Sunday Times Chief Sports Writer David Walsh to host a private dinner and Q&A session in Belfast. Walsh played a major part in uncovering the truth about Lance Armstrong and their discussion about professional cycling made for a fascinating evening.

ON YOUR BIKE Jaguar’s ‘Ride like a Pro’ cycling programme is back. Once again, you’ll be able to experience the feeling of riding in a peloton this summer – with the chance to win the experience of a lifetime to ride with Team Sky at their winter training camp. At each local dealership ride out, you’ll experience a full peloton as you ride a 30-50 mile course, complete with a Jaguar XF Sportbrake as a support vehicle in full Team Sky livery. Join your local ride out and your name could be drawn to participate in the Grand Final. A truly memorable day testing your cycling skills in a time trial and your driving talents in the XF Sportbrake. With Jaguar and Team Sky’s partnership now in its fifth year, Ride like a Pro is your chance to connect with the most successful British cycling team of all time. We can’t all be Chris Froome, but we can all Ride like a Pro.
