July Issue Message from the Lt. G

In this issue!

Greetings Division II! It’s now the end of July and our summer is almost over. Many of us have probably made great strides in the last couple months; registering for SATs, studying and taking up summer employment, while others used the summer as a period of relaxation, going to several limes, meeting new friends and therefore making the summer a very sociable one. Nevertheless… whatever we all spent our summers doing, it’s time to wind down and get ready for a new year (school year that is), time to get ready for late night assignments and group projects, time for hour and a half sessions in a prisonlike environment. We all seem to yearn for summer to arrive from as early as Thanksgiving (lol!), but 3 weeks into summer, we

begin to miss our friends, the horrible school lunches, and our co-curricular activities. That becomes routine after a few years. I’ll leave you all with one quote though: “Carpe Diem”, which means to seize the day. Remember that time lost can never be regained (until about 2050 when we get time machines :P), so ensure that you make every SECOND count. At the end of the day, no one wants to regret anything.

International Convention This year, our International Convention was held in Phoenix, Arizona. The K-T District had a blast! On June 29th, we had a Meet and Greet, where many of us traded pins and played games with our fellow Key Clubbers. The next day was our Opening Session. The flags of the countries of Key Club were presented, a welcome to Phoenix was said, and our Keynote speaker, Eric Saperston, gave an inspiring speech about taking your own journey through life. Caucus was intense, but everyone let loose at the Surf’s Up Dance that night. The next morning, we all went to two workshops. The two I attended were amazing! That night there was more caucus, but the recognition session with entertainment by Craig Karges and our Key

leadership Club talent show relaxed everyone. Our last day was sad, but we had lots of fun with House of Delegates, more workshops, the ELIMINATE dance, and the cowboy dance! I hope to see everyone next year in Orlando, Florida for our next ICON! Written By: Brittany Eaton (Lt. Governor for Division 1 of the Kentucky-Tennessee District)

Goals International President: “I look forward to serving Key Club International in many different ways throughout this upcoming year. First I want to build a strong foundation of service, bringing our focus back to the reason we all joined the organization. Through service, we will be able to strength communication and unity within the districts and divisions. Secondly, I want to increase the promotion of Key Club International, we are too strong of an organization for people not to know us, and I want to see every high school student to have the chance at experiencing service like I have been able to have.” - Annie Lewandowski

Vybz Corner Wandering Dog

Car Insurance

Death Wish

One afternoon, a woman was in her back yard hanging the laundry when an old, tiredlooking dog wandered into the yard. The woman could tell from the dog's collar and wellfed belly that he had a home. But when she walked into the house, the dog followed her, sauntered down the hall and fell asleep in a corner.

A man wanted to buy some insurance for his car, so he went to the insurance company and asked for the list of coverage.

Three buddies die in a car crash; they go to heaven to an orientation.

An hour later, he went to the door, and the woman let him out. The next day the dog was back. He resumed his position in the hallway and slept for an hour. This continued for several weeks. Curious, the woman pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon, your dog comes to my house for a nap."

First, there was anti-fire, which has a $200 premium. Then, there was anti-theft, which had a $150 premium. At the end, he noticed that there was an anti-fire and anti theft policy for only $50! He asked the receptionist, 'Why in the world do you price the policy for two problems less than that for one problem?' The receptionist replied 'Simple Sir. Because nobody steals a burnt car!'

The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar: "We have ten children. He's trying to catch up on his

sleep."

They are all asked, "When you are in your casket and friends and family are mourning upon you, what would you like to hear them say about you? The first guy says, "I would like to hear them say that I was a great doctor of my time, and a great family man." The second guy says, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful husband and school teacher which made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow." The last guy replies, "I would like to hear them say.....LOOK, HE'S MOVING!!!!!"
