Winkfield Parish News - Serving the Community

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN Wow, what a summer we have had! Glorious weather and some fantastic events, I am proud to be a part of Winkfield. Our major achievement this summer has been the replacement of the play equipment at King George V, now a fantastic family destination. Sadly we encountered a traveller incursion at Asher Recreation Ground but we worked quickly to evict them and have carried out a number of improvements across our sites to protect them from future incursions. As we move into the winter months, we have a great line-up of events planned and hope to see as many of you as possible. Our NDP is also now in the final stages of preparation and we hope to present this to BFC early next year.

Remember to keep safe and warm this winter.

Cllr David Parkin, Chairman

PARISH LITTER PICK WPC will be hosting a series of litter picks around the Parish on 13th/14th October in an effort to clear rubbish dropped inconsiderately. Councillors are co-ordinating volunteer groups in each ward so if you are interested in helping to tidy up your local area, please contact the your local Councillors asap to sign up. Winkfield & Cranbourne - Cllr Ms Moira Gaw (07928 301786) Forest Park—Cllr Nikos Polydorou (07711 062825)

Ascot Priory - Cllr Jordan Masters (07584 854112)

Martins Heron - Cllr David Parkin (01344 484014)

MINOR COLLISION REPORTING NEIGHBOURHOOD DEVELOPMENT PLAN UPDATE

We are currently at the pre-submission publicity and consultation stage. We now have our Draft Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) and our consultant, O’Neill Homer and the NDP Steering Group are working together to achieve our schedule with a view to submitting our final plan to BFC early in 2019. Please reference the Winkfield Neighbourhood Plan website to keep upto-date with further developments www.winkfieldnp.org

Have you been involved in a minor collision in Winkfield? Accidents involving Thames Valley Police or injury are automatically reported. To ensure that lesser known accident ‘hot-spots” are reported, we are gathering data to feed back to BFC. Please email details of any minor incident to info@winkfieldparishcouncil.gov.uk .

COUNCILLOR VACANCY Following a resignation, we currently have a vacancy for a Parish Councillor in the Ascot Priory Ward and are looking for candidates who wish to be considered for co-option. If you have a passion for your local community and would like more information on what is involved in the role, please contact the Clerk, Annemarie Edwards on 01344 885110 or by email to info@winkfieldparishcouncil.gov.uk. All applications must be received by 9am on Friday 7th November and will be considered at the November Council meeting..

Winkfield Parish News - Serving the Community

News Round-Up Cycle Ride On 24th June, local residents of all ages joined Warfield & Winkfield Parish Councils on a gloriously sunny day to take part in the 25th Anniversary Family Cycle Ride. Riders completed a 10 mile route and junior riders were awarded a certificate and medal by Mayor of Bracknell Forest, Cllr Alvin Finch. Our thanks go to all the volunteers who helped with the marshalling, registration and refreshments which all helped to make the event so successful!!

Summer of Fun The six Town & Parish Councils of Bracknell Forest provided 8 days of free activities for families across the Borough during the summer holidays. Winkfield hosted a day at Locks Ride Recreation Ground on 22nd August where hundreds of children and adults enjoyed activities such as bouncy castles, face-painting, reptiles, climbing wall, BBQ and more.

King George V PLAYGROUND REFURBISHMENT The new play equipment at King George V Recreation Ground has now been installed and the park is now fully open again!! With new traditional swings, rope swing, accessible roundabout, climbing units for toddlers and juniors, trampoline and play panels, the area offers exciting and challenging play opportunities for the whole family. WPC is arranging an official opening celebration so keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for more details.

Autumn Footpath Walk Fancy a walk? Join Cllr Emily Blyth on a short walk around the footpaths of Winkfield on Saturday 3rd November at 11am. The circular route starts at Asher Recreation Ground. No need to book, just turn up with your wellies and canine friend (if you have one!) Contact Emily on 01344 882629 for more information.

Superfast Berkshire Gigaclear have been contracted to deliver Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) across rural locations and they are about to commence this activity across Bracknell Forest. The roll out schedule can be accessed at https://www.gigaclear.com/superfast-berkshire-rollout-schedule and click on East Berks.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas …

Keep Safe This Winter

WREATH MAKING WORKSHOP For the 12th year running, Paul Craven will be holding workshops for residents to create their very own festive wreath to adorn their front doors and be the envy of all their neighbours! The workshops will be held on Monday 3rd, Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th December from 2pm - 4pm and 7pm 9pm at Ascot Jubilee Pavilion, Goaters Road and there is a £15.00 charge (payable in advance) to cover materials. Booking is essential as places are limited. Call us now on 01344 885110 to reserve your place.

FESTIVE EVENT Our festive event will once again be held at Carnation Hall on Sunday 16th December at 4pm and all are welcome.

With the evenings beginning to draw in and the weather getting colder, remember to check on family, friends and neighbours who may be vulnerable or elderly to keep them safe and warm this winter. As we get older, our bodies respond differently to the cold which can leave us more susceptible to serious health problems. But with a little preparation, and by following some simple suggestions, you can stay healthy, safe and comfortable this winter. For more information go to https:// www.ageuk.org.uk/informationadvice/health-wellbeing/mind-body/ preparing-for-winter/

Join us for carols round the tree, mince pies and mulled wine.

NEW YEAR, NEW START! Thinking about a resolution for the new year? Maybe an exercise class or a new hobby? There are a number of groups and classes that meet at Carnation Hall, check our website for details. Alternatively, maybe you are looking to set-up or expand your own business? There are some regular vacancies available to hire at Carnation Hall for local groups or clubs. Contact the Parish Office to check availability.

Remember that Winkfield and Ascot Good Neighbours Scheme offers help to residents with transport to medical appointments and similar. WPC is pleased to be supporting the scheme as the Chairman’s chosen charity for 2018/19.
