Spring is in the air! The season that brings fresh energy and a wonderful feeling of inspired renewal is upon us, and I can't wait to lighten up on several levels. First, I plan on spending more time outdoors... walking through the beautiful fields here on our farm in Austin, planting flowers and enjoying time with my family. I also plan to lighten up by practicing many of the tips I offered up for ways to naturally increase your energy levels. Another way I want to lighten up this spring? With my makeup! I have always been a big fan of light, minimal makeup, and so many of our newest products take this message to heart! Whether it's by providing a delicate, sheer wash of earthy color or a shade that naturally resembles the skin, I've rounded up 5 of my favorite products for pretty spring makeup looks. The Soft Peach Color Corrector is magical in terms of it's skin correcting qualities! By adding just a dab of this product, discolorations are neutralized and skin tone is evened. Spring Berries Tinted Lip Butter is a totally moisturizing balm with the prettiest hint of natural berry color. Marula and Passion Fruit plant oils, along with Murumuru Amazonian butters and Meadowfoam Seed Oil leave behind a nourishing gloss that is so delectable. The Fresh Rose Blossom Blush provides you with a subtle kiss of rosy color that enhances the natural tone of your cheeks. This shade will give you a fresh-faced rosy flush. Our Bronzed Finishing Dust will offer your skin a bit of completely natural sun-kissed color, replication the look of spending a lazy afternoon in the sun. A translucent tint of color that never looks fake, this dust is a must-try! I Fancy You Eye Shadow is such a wonderful, neutral color that provides a tender touch of dimension to your lids for Spring. A light taupe color that can be layered with other shadows, this shade is great for a barely-there makeup look. Xo, C

Recently Everyday Minerals and Mineral Cosmetics were at a beauty expo in Kiev doing makeup lessons and touch-ups. Despite being in the middle of a war, it's important to remember that most just want to attempt to live as normally as possible, and our friends at Mineral Cosmetics help women do so! Here's a behind the scenes look at the event. Check out their website for more info. Photographer: Igor Vanzha

What is your favorite part of your job? I get to learn so many interesting things about natural ingredients, botanicals, and the biochemistry of hair and skin. Also I feel like it's a perfect thing for me because I am artist and creative but also love science, and my job is a fairly equal balance of the two!
What are the most challenging parts of your job? I am limited in what ingredients I can use since we only use natural and plant or mineral derived ingredients, so it takes more creativity and research to make the products work as well as mainstream products.

What do you love about your city? Austin is weird so I fit right in! And I love the weather here. Good combination of hip and progressive city life and warm weather that is hard to come by - San Francisco is too cold for me!
What event in your city do you look forward to every year? The Texas VegFest. It's pretty new, I believe the one coming up this April will be the third one, but it is a lot of fun and there's so many awesome speakers and great vegan food.
What healthy living tips can you provide? Find something active you enjoy and do that. Eat lots of fruits, veggies, beans, and omega-3 rich seeds! A balance in all things is really important for your mental health - but whatever a good balance looks like for you, it might not necessarily be 'moderation.'
What is your favorite food and restaurant? I love the Concious Cravings trailer on South First. Their BBQ Seitan Wrap and rosemary fries are so good! I also love going to the new South Wheatsville for a Popcorn Tofu Po'boy and Capital City Bakery for the best vegan cupcakes in Austin. I am a vegan and there is certainly no shortage of great vegan food here! I've been vegan for 9 years, since I was 14 and a freshman in high school! So Everyday Minerals being a vegan company was definitely one of the things that appealed to me.
What's your favorite product to make and why? The sugar scrub because it smells nice and looks pretty.

What are you most excited about right now? In May I'm going to New York city to attend a one-day class on cosmetic preservation. I've never been to NYC and I'm very excited to learn things that will help me create inventive products.
What music are you listening to right now? "Summertime Sadness" by Lana Del Ray
What is your favorite place that you've traveled/where do you want to travel? When I was 13 I went to Yellowstone with my parents, and I loved seeing all the wildlife there. I am looking forward to going to NYC for the first time, and I hope to visit Europe and Australia some day.

Big news! We are super excited to let you know that now, it's easier than ever to find your perfect base - in a flash! We've revolutionized the concept of effortlessly identifying which base shade is your absolute ideal match, with our newly developed naming system for our foundation colors. With this advanced color system, you can easily locate your true match quickly and easily.
Already know your perfect shade? Don't worry, our previous foundation shade names will be listed next to the new ones until you get accustomed to the switch! In addition to the new color system, we're going back to our roots. You loved the original formulation of our Matte and Semimatte bases, and we've heard you! These "Real Simple" award-winning new shades incorporate everything that you love about our range of bases, and offer the same coverage you love, with fewer ingredients. Plus, they are now available at Whole Foods! We've taken what you've told us you loved most about our classic formula, such as the tones and pigment qualities, and revitalized them in a fresh and new way. The bases are now organized in a way that you can clearly differentiate between warm and cool tones and the level of depth (lightness or darkness) you need. There are seven levels of tones organized from 0-7 based on your corresponding user on our newbie page.

Obsession confession: house plants. You can never have enough. They are the silent companions, the life teachers, and the friends who will always put a smile on your face. Double obsession confession: succulents. They will never get mad at you for forgetting to water them, and they look like Mother Nature’s coolest alien. Now here’s a fun new DIY to celebrate the obsession and fill your house with hanging succulents.
You’ll Need: -
Sculpt It (air hardening sculpting material)
-
5 Old Jars (I used a mixture of jars from spices and preserves that varied in size)
-
5 Inches of stiff wire converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
-
String
-
Pointed clay tool or safety pin to poke holes
-
Paint color of your choice
-
Paint Brush
-
Cup & Water for painting
-
Painter’s tape
-
5 Small succulents & soil
Directions 1. Taking a small piece of sculpt it and roll it into a ball. 2. Flatten the ball into a round sheet with your fingers
3. Mold the flattened piece around the bottom of a jar.
4. Polk two holes on opposites sides of the clay where you will feed your strings through.
converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
5. Poke another hole in the center bottom for string as well. 6. Let your sculpt it dry completely. Part way through, pull it off the jars and let it sit to continue drying. The whole drying process takes about one day or two. Be patient. 7. Once your clay is dry, tape off the top half with painters tape.
8. Thoroughly paint the bottom half and let dry.
9. String two strings through the holes on either side of each planter, and knot them on the inside to secure. Leave the strings on the smallest and second to biggest planters fairly long so that you can choose how low they will hang.
converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
10. To begin putting everything together, figure out which succulent you want to put in which container, and line them up smallest to biggest.
11. Plant the biggest container first. Then, pick up the strings so you can find where it hangs centered. Once you’ve found the spot, tie a knot and feed the strandsthrough the bottom hole of the next planter, tying another knot to secure. 12. Plant your second to largest pot next and set the two to the side. 13. Plant the next three planters on their own using the same method. So you will have one strand of two planters, and another of three.
converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
14. Hang both strands from the ceiling so that the hole of one hangs next to the knot above the other. Stick a piece of wire in the hole and wrap it around the knot of the other to keep them separated like a mobile.

The best homes are the ones that you’ve put thought, creativity, blood, sweat, and tears into. Looking around and knowing that you made something with your own two hands – that you turned a pile of found materials into something beautiful – is so satisfying. It creates an atmosphere where you can be at home .

I tend to do a lot of random projects and end up with all sorts of odds and ends. This particular wall hanging is a result of just a few materials I had leftover. All you need is a wooden dowel, string, and scrap fabric to get it done. You can really pick any color fabric that you please, but I like the ethereal ribbon quality of the pale peach. The design is somewhat reminiscent of a dream catcher, and I like to think that it has the power to trap and rid bad energies in the air. Want one of your own? Here’s how to create the wall hanging with your own two hands…
What You Need: -
15” Wooden dowel that is ¼” in diameter
-
Approx. 45’ of string
-
1 Yard Scrap Fabric
-
3 Cups Bleach converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
-
Bucket
-
Scissors
-
Ruler
-
Pencil
Directions: Lay out your fabric and trace 15 strips on it. I made my strips each 15 long and as wide as my ruler. To cut the strips out, begin with scissors and then tare the fabric along your pencil lines.
Fill your bucket with the bleach and lay the bottom quarter of your fabric strips in it for 45 minutes to one hour. Once they are done lay them out on a piece of scrap fabric or stick them in the dryer.
converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
While your fabric is bleaching/drying, cut 16 pieces of string each approximately 30” long. Tie the strings to your wooden dowel, spacing each roughly .75” apart. Tie one across the top, fixing it at both ends of the wooden dowel, for the piece to hang from.
It’s then time to cut your strings in the shape of a diamond. To do so, hang the piece up on a wall. Use the same technique you see hairdressers use when they cut your hair by bringing the two opposite strands to the center and then cutting them to the same length.
converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
Once you’re happy with your diamond, tie the bleached fabric strings to the end. Follow the images below, tying around and down, up and through.
