GreenHaus The proposed project is to transform a local grocery store into a mixed use complex (Residential, Retail, and Social Space), while still maintaining or repurposing the structural bay in environmental and efficiency efforts.

In the midst of ushering in of this new age, millenials are at the forefront of this movement. The millenial mentality is one of fast paced lives and short attention spans. A generation of individuals that grew up in a time with little to no technology and had to adapt to a rapid changing world of integrating technologies and technological advances.

This site development is geared towards disrupting the integration of technology into everyday life. This is done by setting the retail and residential acting as pillars of technology, and a set of social spaces with little to no technology incorperating old world traditions, disrupting the technology rich spaces on either ends of the complex.

The Social Space
Being that this site is in the middle of a neighborhood that is prone to obesity, the social space development is focused on providing a healthy food alternative while stimulating a community involvement throughout the mixed use complex. The urban farm/ farmers market is an innitiative to encourage the community to take part in vending events and to contribute to the community farm. The restaurant uses fresh produce from the urban farm area to make healthy foods. In addition to selling healthy foods, the restaurant also incorperates an electric delivery vehicle hub in the back. This delivery hub is to provide a service of delivering healthy meals to the neighborhood, for those who are not able to leave their house.

Color Selection Color Reasoning
The monochromatic wood tones gradient from area to area according to the use. The darker the wood tone, the lower the ceiling gets to focus on a more intimate dining experience while the lighter tones are tied to higher ceilings. Incorporating the red fabric throughout the space creates a more dynamiic atmosphere and to promote impulse buys from consumers.

The bar area has the highest ceiling to give a spacious feeling for socializing. It has a screen wall made of steel pipes that are also used throughout the site for crop irrigation. An industrial farm scheme is kept throughout the space with the exposed structure and simple hanging lightbulbs. These fixtures also hang lower above seating areas to provide a seeming drop in the ceiling.

The dining area has the lowest ceiling to give a intimate feeling for one on one dining. This intimate dining area features the darkest wood tones for a warmer and cozier setting. The communal dining area is next to that. This features long tables to promote interaction between individuals and larger groups. This area’s ceiling height is higher to allow a more spacious feeling throughout. Next to the dining areas there is a weaving cork wall panel to help with the acoustics of conversations. This retail is located in a hispanic and low income neighborhood in San Antonio, Texas. The incorperation of this aspect is for consumers to bring in their own clothes to make something new and to their preferance. Transition The proposed project is to design a series of spaces within a abulatory surgery center in North Carolina; Including exam rooms, exam lobby, PACU, and surgery waiting room. Project Members: Coleen Gilbert Daniel Hernandez Narda Parga Jaime Cesar Perez Nathaniel Reese The Exam Waiting Room Ceiling design takes biophilic design into consideration as it is based on the structure of a leaf, with the main vein on the floor design and the secondary veins extracted up to the ceiling. Thus, creating a seamless connection into adjoining spaces. The Exam room corridor continues this concept as linear elements span from door to door to create an organic fracturing pattern. This creates movement throughout the space that will ultimately flow into the PACU.
Seasons in Charlotte, North Carolina are prominent and within the change of seasons comes a transitional period. Inspired by this seasonal characteristic, the design of this multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center was created. As patients, family members, and staff navigate throughout different areas, they will experience a positive change influenced by biophilic design solutions.
Moreover, the built environment in this design concept aids the healing process by promoting a sense of calmness throughout; using geometries found in leaves creates a rhythmic pattern on floors, walls and ceilings, which defines spaces as its inhabitants experience this transitional healing process.
The PACU ceiling drops in the main circulation space and angles upwards into the patient rooms as to create a sense of transitioning into a larger room for the comfort of the patient.
Scope Plan The Surgery waiting room area has a simple segmented design based on the placement of adjoining walls. However, over the seating areas, there is a canopy cage inspired dropped ceiling which creates a more intimate setting as the space is softer and intended for longer wait periods.

Wayfinding elements throughout the building such as use of colors, flooring patterns, and floor to ceiling design elements allow users to easily navigate throughout the entire facility. By creating a transitioning flooring pattern between different materials in entrance spaces, people are able to easily identify where an entrance to a space is located. Floor to ceiling designed elements show directions to users to easily navigate to their desired location.

1. Luxury Vinyl Tile - Flooring of different colors and shades throughout the clinic. The floor color scheme is a complementary scheme to emphasize different wayfinding points. There is also different shades of each color to incorporate the idea of transition throughout the floor and areas. Interactive Digital Wall The interactive feature wall is made of LED panels that are responsive to touch and movement. This feature will project different images that transition from one end of the panel to the other.

Color Selection Color Reasoning
The complementary color scheme keeps a brown tone throughout the different spaces while transitioning into blue. Orange is used to contrast the blue in areas whwere signage is integrated into the wall. The transition idea for the flooring is used to identify different spaces through the use of color, and to portray the idea that one will transition in their own experience in the clinic. The cool tones in the surgery lobby create a calmer atmosphere as this area is where patients wait the longest.
The PACU is for patients that are recovering after their surgery. This Area features a sloping ceiling throughout the middle and a higher ceiling in the patient room to give a sense of the space getting bigger, and give patients a comfortable experience entering the rooms. The glass doors also have the ability to show vital signs of patients and to alert nurses of any complications.

The Exam rooms feature a transitioning floor color as a small symbol of the bigger idea of transforming throughout the spaces. The light blue walls are to calm patients as they visit the doctor. Dark brown cabinets are used to contrast from the walls and for ease of access to staff.

The Suregery waiting room is the area where patients spend the longest wait times. This area features a interactive digital wall to entertain patients. There is bar seating as a workstation as well as different sofa clusters for a range of seating choices while waiting. Surgery Lobby Furniture

Framework The proposed project is to redesign a neighborhood in Puerto Rico that has been affected by hurrican Maria; taking into consideration current conditions, residences must be designed with cost and durability as the main factors.
Puerto Rico is a destination full of rich culture and a unique way of life. However, due to Puerto Rico’s location, it is highly affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes. Throughout periods of struggles and hardship, the Puerto Rican people tend to reconstruct their ways of life and thrive, due to the importance of unity and family embedded in their culture.
The proposed project is a housing development located in las Piedras, Puerto Rico; the site is vulnerable from every angle when it comes to weather complications such as flooding and natural disasters. This housing solution would attempt to alleviate some of the stress that comes with natural disasters affecting the community, while rebuilding and growing the neighborhood. Puerto Rico

Material Reasoning
The material selections are based on a sense of strength, resiliency, and location. Puerto Rican homes are usually made of easy to work with materials such as CMU, thin metal, and wood. This project will use these materials as efficient as possible. The CMU will provide the stability needed to be put up against natural disasters. The thin metal will provide flexibility for a possible faceted roof geometry to distribute the impact of harsh winds.

The muted triadic color scheme was selected to give tribute to the existing homes throughout Puerto Rico. Each home will have white trims to focus on the importance of the edges, framework, and joinery. The colors will be utilized throughout the woods and concrete that are repurposed from the hurricane affected homes so that each family will have some of their past to structure their new future.

The proposed project is to develop a temporary outdoor exhibition space for two piazzas in Urbino, Italy to display local ceramics, with low impact the historical site. By using photogrammetry to map a 3D model of the historical site, an accurate and custom solution can be designed while establishing a resource base of 3D models.

The display systems are made to resemble the forms created from the historical extrusions in an abstract manner. These displays are also angled to stack upon each other for ease of transport and storage. Tributary Spa The proposed project is to design a rooftop spa in New Braunfels, Texas. It is located at the top of a residential multi story building situated near the Comal River.
Starting Rooftop Mass
Horizontal Manipulation
The tributary spa takes the form of a connection of tributaries in the ultimate ideal of tying all elements of life including people and nature together through the importance of the river. This spa is located near the comal river and the importance of that location is to be emphasized in different representation of the river.
Vertical Manipulation
We are all connected in some fashion; the network that holds society together is a notion emphasized with day to day interactions. These interactions are also emphasized throughout the design, as pools and natural materials are integrated to symbolize the carving and connection of water.
Outdoor Area Linear Coverage
The Builder Artisans used natural resources to establish the town using methods brought from Germany.
The Tradition New Braunfels keeps traditions alive by having annual celebrations and inhabiting existing buildings.
The Preservationist Preserved buildings, including those build using fachwerk, and museums upholds history to be experienced by generations to come.
The Pioneer New Braunfels was settled by German pioneers that brought with them tradition and spirit when establishing the new town.
Project Considerations: 1.Views were directed toward the river and away from views of surrounding buildings to focus on natural elements 2.Curtain walls placed at north ends to limit heat gain. 3.Quieter programming placed at far ends away from river to limit noise.

Fire Pit Lounge: Located overseeing the river and parks, this lounge area provides an area for family, friends, and strangers to gather together under the stars to appreciate the outdoors. The tributaries derive from one place in an interconnected series that teaches us to do the same. To uphold the connections between each other as an important ideal to live by. Treatment Room: Entering the massage room gives a sense that water was once there to carve out the defined space. Upon further exploration, one realizes that the treatment is taking place over a glass floor to show a waterfall running underneath the room.

“And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live”. The poolside lounge features wooden chairs that emerge from the ground and warp into resemblance to waves. The cantilever pool is located on the edge of the building, acting as a tributary that runs parallel to the comal river. The pool is enclosed with a concrete wall to symbolize the carving purposes that all bodies of water.
3 1. Envelope The building envelope is mostly a black fiber cement to represent a slight texture of stone while the panels take the same pattern of boulder stacking. 2. Structure The structure for the rooftop spa is made of steel and is designed to be at two levels: the treatment and amenity level, and the waiting area. This is to provide a uniform basis for the building while showcasing an open waiting room to integrate visibility of the surrounding environment. 3. Outdoor Areas These areas include: cantilever pool, poolside lounge, lounge areas, fire pit, garden, waterfall, and a cantilever yoga studio. Most of these areas are covered by linear shade structures that resemble abstracted tributaries.
“This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the [b]valley, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed”. Once you enter through this space you will begin the healing process. In this sense you are a branch of the river entering a larger body of water to begin healing and emerge changed. The accent wall behind the reception desk features an abstracted version of tributaries made with wood panels and perforated metal.
