What is AIESEC? AIESEC is the global youth network impacting the world through leadership development experiences.
Present in over 125 countries and territories and with over 70,000 active members, AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-run organisation. We are run by youth, for youth, and we envision ‘peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential’.
AIESEC was founded in 1948 in post-war Europe where a group of young individuals from 7 countries, determined to create change, came together to create an organisation that aimed to “expand the understanding of a nation by expanding the understanding of the individuals, changing the world one person at a time”.
3
Why we do what we do? In a world where we face many different global challenges at different times, we believe the solution is to develop responsible and entrepreneurial young leaders today who will choose how the world will be like tomorrow.
The way we do this is unlike anyone else in the world. We provide practical leadership experiences by living and delivering international exchange programs that develop leadership in others. In doing so, young people are exposed to a global learning environment where they have the confidence to learn and the freedom to fail. With 67 years of experience, AIESEC is committed to creating change agents that will make a positive impact on society.
So what will you do to make a difference in your world?

Finance and Governance is a highly strategic portfolio that aims to critically analyse the organisation’s operations through its finances, and thereby, utilising this data to make investments to improve operations and results. Testimonials What they say about AIESEC?
17
What is the best thing about joining AIESEC?
Making connections The best thing about AIESEC is that there are people who encourage you to develop yourself. Despite the work you have to complete, there are integrated gatherings each week for you to relax and connect with your team and with the rest of the organisation. Chantelle Lam, Outgoing Global Citizen
18
How did AIESEC help you improve?
Mature in a supportive environment At AIESEC, I often found myself in situations I would never have found myself in had I stayed in my comfort zone. As a result of being placed in such situations, I have learnt to think on my feet and develop not only on a professional level but also as an individual. Being surrounded by such motivated and intelligent colleagues has inspired me to grow through learning from them and maturing as a result. Tony Do, Talent Management/Incoming Exchange
19
What was the best moment of your AIESEC experience so far?
Sense of belonging On my 21st birthday, my Talent Management family gave me a HUGE teddy bear and we named it Salazar Wong, which is a combo of Riel’s, a teammate, and Jefferson’s, the vice president of Talent Management, surname (as if it was their baby). AIESEC helped me find a sense of belonging by giving me a team who I can not only work together with, but also to live and to grow up with. Eleanor Liu, Talent Management member
20
What would you like to say to potential future members?
Let life begin If life begins outside your comfort zone, then what are you waiting for - just step out! You will get to meet probably the best folks at USYD through joining AIESEC. Jaime Zhao, Marketing and Communications

“The United Nations has long recognised that the imagination, ideals and energies of young men and women are vital for the continuing development of the societies in which they live. AIESEC has contributed to this development by serving as an agent of positive change through education and cultural exchange to develop a broader understanding of cultural, socioeconomic and business management issues. Kofi Annan, Former General Secretary of the United Nations 19972007, Alumni of AIESEC
