Jake Petrasch
Jake Petrasch, officially named Jake John Garrit Petrasch Jr., is the proprietor of Valley Anglers, a premier fly fishing guide service based in the Mad River Valley, Vermont. This establishment specializes in providing guided fishing trips and a wide array of fishing gear, including rods, reels, wading equipment, and various carrying solutions. His business stems from a deep passion for angling, a practice rooted in the age-old method of fishing with a hook. As an accomplished automotive enthusiast, site coordinator, and educator, he brings over twenty years of diverse professional experience to his roles, spanning education, property management, and site coordination. His interests are as varied as his professional background, encompassing activities such as surfing, skateboarding, biking, hunting, and both saltwater and freshwater fly fishing, all enjoyed alongside his family. He earned his Bachelor's degree in fine arts from St. Lawrence University in 2001 and later pursued a master's in Education at Johnson State College, which he completed in 2007. His academic pursuits also include a semester at the National Outdoor Leadership School, which earned him college credits from the University of Utah. His career has seen him take on various roles that have honed his skills as a versatile professional, from teaching and property management to guiding and logistics coordination. In 2005, he channeled his dual passions for teaching and fly fishing into founding Valley Anglers LLC in Warren, VT. Here, he excels in instructing clients of various skill levels in the finer points of fly fishing, from casting to the study of aquatic insects and knot-tying techniques. In 2010, he ventured into alternative education with the Counseling Services of Addison County as a head teacher and behavior specialist, aiding students who were removed from traditional settings.
