| A few words about my passion and myself In my work I am guided by the desire for continuous research for forms and ideas that increase the value of space around us. Components that corresponds to the needs appropriate for the destination. Elements that corresponds to spirit of place, historical conditions, traditions, the context of space and nature. Each project is a separate task for me. Every idea does not arise from any pattern or any scheme out that define all planned tasks. But the most important thing in my creative thinking is to pay attention to the people who are the basis of every project idea. There are a few basic reasons why I chose this field of interests. Architecture is not only means to earn money, but it is a way of living. I think about architecture all the time. I spend much time evaluating materials, experiencing the sense of space and admiring details. Furthermore, yet another reason is the absence of the definition of what the correct solution to the task is. This phenomenon allows me to impart my own personality and self-expression in every project that I am involved in. I realized that I love creating during my gap year by working at the construction site. I learned a lot not only about the issues of the heavy manual work but I also discovered that I am pleased to see the tangible results of my own work. Each building is a representation of the thoughts, hopes and dreams of mine. But most importantly, I hope that some of them will be built some day and it is my biggest motivation.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION The nature of the building is not ment to dominate. The building is designed in such a way to that it would fit its neighborhood. The house does not stand out by the used material or color. The shape of the building is determined by spatial conditions of the direct location. The architectural solutions used are the consequence of the proposed thesis. Therefore, the solutions shall correspond to present times, but at the same time they respect the factors arising from the location. The idea of this project is based, in essence, on transfer of functional program of French gardens, according to guidelines for formulating vertical gardens used today.

| solide and void Location The parcels surrounded by free-standing pre-war residential housing. The existing development started appearing in the 1930s. It was planned to implement the conception of Garden City in that area. Despite the fact that plans have not been implemented completely, the results of the change are easily noticeable now. One of the consequences is the symmetrical location of the street. It corresponds to the composition of baroque French garden of the Louis XIV era. | site plan

The simplified plan of French gardens. Gardens are organized in two fundamentally different sections: parterres and bosquets. The difference is due to the structures of the parts and their function.

The transfer of the French garden plan to the plan of the designed building. Each part has a different function.

The project is also based on framing views of the outside. The frames guide you when walking along the house.

Another assumption adopted for this building is a gradation of privacy by using various floor levels.

Apperance The appearance of the building is inspired by the terraced Sanssouci gardens in Potsdam. Alternate usage of various distant elements is a part of the interactive participation of viewers. Received gaps symbolize hidden entrances to some parts of baroque gardens. It allows to appropriately illuminate the house interiors, while fully saving the facade.

Individual Academic Work Warsaw, Poland 8th, June 2016 3rd Year, Second Semester Phd, Eng. of Architecture and Urban Planning Jerzy Grochulski (11@pro-arte.com.pl)

PROJECT DESCRIPIOTION The project is inspired by a desire to create an inclusive learning environment and a wish to create a building in such a way that it would achieve the conditions that allow children to develop their music passions. At the same time, the children’s school life is limited to the outer walls and the activities take place inside the building. This solution results in increasing the security of students and in reducing the noise caused by students, which has adverse effects on the people living in neighborhood. The building’s location does not affect the existing park. The school is intended to keep the nature of the place. The size of the building is fitted to trees located in the area and wood is the main used outer material.

| site plan Location The parcel is located in the biggest housing area of Warsaw. The land serves as an irregularly shaped public park. The land borders with local distributor road from north and with public primary school from south. The other directions border with four to eight-story residential developments. The area is planted mainly with fruit plant and trees. There are many sidewalks and bike lanes on this parcel. Every path is equipped with park furniture . This is a popular place to organize various city outdoor events.

CONCEPT DIAGRAMS

The project aims to preserve the primar value of the park and it is located in a way to achieve that.

The functional program is divided into sections depending on the age of the teenagers from junior high and high school, as well as varied use of the bulding parts

In order to ensure the safety of students and to reduce the noise created by them, there are three inner courtyards in the building, which concentrate the school life inside.

Classrooms are directed to south to to guarantee a sufficient amount of sunlight. It also enables students to maintain contact with nature, by facing the windows to the nearby park.

Individual Academic Work Warsaw, Poland 30th, January 2017 4th Year, First Semester Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Planning Michal Brutkowski Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Planning Stanislaw Karlowski (s_karlowski@op.pl)

PROJECT DESCRIPIOTION The project is based on assumptions resulting from urban studies of surrounding development. The form of the building is made to complete the frontages of the street. The proposed break is created to expose the towers of a church that is located nearby. The differences between the height of the particular parts of the building are the result of a wish to adapt to rules prevailing on the street. The opposite buildings correspond with each other in the terms of the same height. The appearance of the museum refers also to the height of the ground floors of surrounding buildings. The usage of self-supporting opal glazing system as a main elevation material is a result of the need of proper illumination of the exhibition interiors. This material provides sufficient amount of the light transmitted and matches the modern characteristics of a museum of architecture.

Location The parcel is located in the city center of Warsaw. There is an often used subway entrance. The parcel is situated at external border of urban plan created in Socialist Realism. This style of architecture is characterized by the drawing inspiration from classic architecture. The buildings of the Socialism Realism style are monumental and have over-scaled details. The parcel is surrounded by six to eight-story buildings. One of the most essential characteristics is the height of the ground floors marked on the el evations. There are commercial services on the ground floors. Next to the parcel, there is an antique Catholic church. The church refers to forms of Polish Baroque and Renaissance. | ground floor plan

The project connects subway entrance with an indoor square. The square is created to serve as a temporary exhibition.

The passageway created responds to a gap between the facing buildings. It is also the subway entrance.

The break is created to expose the towers of a church.

The different height of the parts of the building is created to match the height of the surrounding development.

The presence of the marked height of ground floors may be observed at the designed museum facade elevation.

04 PUBLIC LIBRARY

WITH ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONAL PROGRAM

Individual Academic Work / degree-project Warsaw, Poland 1tst, September 2017 4th Year, Second Semester Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Planning Stanislaw Karlowski (s_karlowski@op.pl) Phd, Eng. of Architecture and Urban Planning Marek Swierczynski

PROJECT DESCRIPIOTION The issue of this project is based essentially on a few needs. Firstly, the need to create space appropriate to protect the book collection in a form suitable for a user. Secondly, the need to generate building with high architectural value - structure you would like to return to. Lastly, the need to connect the area with surroundings. The building land is located at the southern border of the Warsaw old town. The project is supposed to reach the full potential of the location. The design task is to open the area which is not in tended for public use and connect it with adjacent park land. Thanks to extensive cultural program, the building would be used not only by readers, but it would also become a major cultural spot in this part of Warsaw. The form of the building is the result of urban analysis. The concept assumes the combination of a form suitable for the ancient temple and park pavilions.

32 | 47

public library

More than half of the area is covered with trees. The building is located in such a way to preserve a significant part of the orginal tree cover.

The building was devided into three plots. That design intent enable to communicate freely. Each plot of the building has a different function.

The different height of the parts of the building is created to match the height of the surrounding development.

External elevations are made of wood to correspond to the park location of the building.

The building is also equipped with concrete poles that forms the external structure. Therefore the building got character suitable for his function.

Location Despide the rapid development and wide pre - war investment prospects the area that surrounds the selected parcel was degraded and destroyed. Contemporary land development has various functions what appeare to be inappropriate for its location. In spite of the downtown location bor dering on old town buildings, the area is a space completely insolate from the surroundings. A place that does not encourage potential users to visit it. The degradation of the neighborhood is less understandable because of its location - great in terms of public transport. The plot and its surrounding areas are characterized by a significant share of greenery, which influences its attractiveness and makes its unique character.

PROJECT DESCRIPIOTION The Fort Mokotow area is an extraordinary space. Unfortunately, the area is badly neglected. The chaotical development has caused demolition of the primary nature of bunker complex. While creating the project of office building, we were trying to approach the task not only by thinking about the shopping and business needs . The need of local people became even more important. The creating process started with a detailed analysis. sanctu The idea for the project includes mainly creating a green sanctuary in the center of the capital city of Poland.
