Editor’s Note

A Leaders View Good leaders are able to asses a situation and foreshadow its future. They take what is in from of them and create a blueprint that will enable them to stay relevant. All organizations have a leader; whether it is home, school, work one person has to set the agenda for the group’s survival. Are you up to the task? All leaders must consider the following: 1. Time It maximizes production and minimizes stress. 2. People They use people’s talent effectively under proper supervision 3. Money use as a tool not as a weapon bill has to be paid and goals can be accomplished 4. Pronoun This is the difference between manger and leaders. There is no I in we; remember to use us, us and ours. 5. Meetings Make sure it has a purpose and agenda or else there will be no incentive to attend the future ones. 6. Networking This strengthens the organizations ecosystem. You learn from others, for no one is an island. Janice K. Maxwell editor in chief

L

ila Ike, who is a member of Protoje’s new wave of artists, has shot to stardom in the past year with releases such as “Biggest Fan “and “Second Chance. Lila’s enchanting voice seems almost tailor made for success with the feel of old school reggae acts like Marcia Griffiths and Judie Mowatt. She has been featured on a track with Protoje, and Agent Sasco called “Not Another Word” just recently which is also doing well on the local scene. The straight-shooting, freespirited, yet easy-going singer belts soulful tunes with a velvety smooth voice. Born and raised in the cool hills of Manchester, Ike attended the Manchester High School where her love for music truly started to form. She’s cites influencers from a wide range of genres- from pop to lover’s rock to rhythm and blues. Lila even goes as far as to describe herself as an ‘old soul’- often channeling the soulful sounds of influencers like Garnet Silk, Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys.
