Health & Dental Fairs
The Jamaica Energy Partners Group hosted its highly anticipated health fair series during the month of July to tend to the medical and dental needs of the communities within which the companies operate. Over three hundred (300) medical and dental services were provided to the patrons at no cost to them.
Medical services included: general medicals, pap smears, prostate-specific antigen screening, HIV testing, as well as the provision of free medication for those who required same. In relation to dental cleanings and extractions, the JEP Group sought to cater to the needs of over three hundred (300) residents who benefit from this service twice annually.
We are proud to have been able to show our appreciation to the communities and, in so doing,
inculcate a culture that views health as paramount to their daily lives. Through our active stakeholder management efforts, all medical services were provided to us complementarily due to our relationships with the Spanish Town Hospital and the Kingston Public Health Department.
The event also provided non-medical services, which included: financial literacy, insurance, and cosmetology certification training, among others.
The Group hosted an additional dental fair series during the month of November, where close to four hundred (400) residents received oral health services as part of JEP Group’s mandate to provide free healthcare in the social impact areas.
Blood Drives
Positively impacting lives is a central ethos for the JEP Group, and giving the gift of life is the ultimate demonstration. The JEP Group hosted its annual blood drive series in December 2023, to promote blood donations in order to support the chronic shortage experienced at the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS). Representatives from the NBTS facilitated the blood donation process at all three (3) locations. The Marketing Department solicited staff support and decorated all training rooms to ensure comfortable spaces for the donation experience.
Road accidents and fatalities, domestic disputes, and surgery-related complications are among the top reasons why the blood bank continues to experience a chronic blood shortage. The JEP Group understands this and takes great pleasure in supporting the national health system in providing a consistent supply of blood through the willingness of its staff.
We are proud of our association with the NBTS and value their partnership, which has extended since 2016.
Cancer Awareness
In recognition of breast and prostate cancer awareness months, September and October, respectively, the Marketing Team conceptualised and executed a robust Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, initiated amongst the staff and the general public, to help raise funds to donate to the Hope Institute. A series of events were undertaken, which included:
- Intercompany Men’s Football League
- Intercompany Cook-Off Competition
- RAYZ for Life 5k Run
- Raffle (trip for two to the Dominican Republic)
The campaign also included timely reminders regarding prostate and breast health and featured staff engagement sessions with two consultant doctors specialising in breast cancer surgery and urology. The campaign concluded with the raffle draw, which took place on the day of the Run, Saturday, October 28, 2023.
The initial fundraising target of US$3,200.00 was surpassed with corporate sponsorships alone; Wartsila, our major sponsor, donated a superb US$10,000.00.
The JEP Group will continue to pay homage to those affected by this dreadful disease, both in cash and in kind, and encourage everyone to pay keen attention to their health by incorporating healthy choices in their daily lives.
JEP Group’s Big League Football Competition
The month of September is celebrated as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and the JEP Group uses the opportunity to engage the men in physical activity as well as informational sessions pertaining to prostate health and cancer prevention.
PSA Screening
The Group also engaged men in our neighbouring communities of Old Harbour Bay, Western Kingston, and Eastern Kingston for a follow-up of our free

prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening initiative, launched last year. As a result, almost 90 men benefitted and if any of them received an abnormally high PSA level, they would be referred to a Consultant Urologist. JEP’s corporate citizenship places a strong emphasis on fostering healthier communities.
RAYZ for Life
To wrap the breast/prostate awareness campaign, JEP Group hosted its second staging of Rayz for Life Cancer Awareness 5K. Once registered, individuals and companies were invited to run, walk, ride or wheel. Winward Road Health Centre Treatment Room Expansion
Labour Day
Yadel Girls’ Home, North Street Primary & Rollington Fire Station Benefit from JEP’s Labour Day Initiative
The Winward Road Health Centre was the beneficiary of J$1.5 million to expand existing infrastructure, to treat patients suffering with chronic stomach ulcers. The area, initially, was not conducive to treating this illness and did not adhere to proper infection prevention and control practices as the space also caters to other services.
An external waiting area is to be constructed to enhance the service delivery and ensure treatment is delivered in a private and sanitary area. It is reported that that at least forty-five (45) patients are treated daily. As our partners, this organisation supports JPPC in various initiatives, such as volunteering at our community health and dental fairs. We are proud of our partnership and anticipate greater mutual rewards in the future.
Inclusivity and community development are at the heart of JEP’s mission, and Labour Day was no exception. The JEP Marketing Team, guided by the core value of reducing inequality in 2023, spread its efforts across three key locations: Yadel Girls’ Home, North Street Congregational Primary School, and the Rollington Town Fire Station.
As part of our community sustainability and development contributions, the JEP Team constantly evaluates its environs to identify and reinforce existing resources. The Yadel Home for Girls is one such resource that acts as a haven for females between the ages of 12-18 years of age who are otherwise homeless. The church-run facility currently has three members of staff who tend to the needs of all wards while under its care: a manager, a housemother, and a nurse.
After conducting an assessment, we initiated various activities in a bid to lift the morale of the girls as well as their caretakers. Activities included: painting and electricals, gardening, carpentry, and tiling of the front veranda due to the lifting of tiles which is considered a safety hazard.
After four (4) days of toiling, the JEP Team and its contractors successfully completed the project, providing a brand-new space for the occupants of Yadel.
Additionally, JEP sponsored the Old Harbour Bay CDA in undertaking its major Labour Day project to complete a facelift of the community centre. The centre is the common ground in the district of Old Harbour Bay and is the premier location for all community-related events.
CSR Officer Rashelle Muir presents a mock cheque valued at J$1.5 Million. The North Street Congregational Primary was another location identified, which is located in the heart of Downtown, Kingston, one of Jamaica’s poorest crime hot spots. The entire school grounds received a fresh coat of paint to uplift the spirit of the young children and educators enrolled at the learning institution.
JEP’s commitment to this school goes beyond Labour Day activities; earlier in the year, the company donated a Lexmark MX Monochrome Laser Printer to support the administrative team in preparing educational materials. Additionally, WKPP has a history of awarding scholarships to the school’s top performers, recognising academic excellence and fostering a bright future for these young minds. Led by Principal, Mrs. Smythe, it is among the best performing schools within the social impact area and worthy of the investment and effort expended in enhancing the learning, and teaching experience.
JPPC Beautifies the Rollington Town
Fire Station
As part of our ongoing stakeholder engagement strategy, the CSR Team continues to manage our relationships with various groups, including the Jamaica Fire Brigade. In addition to supporting the Safety and Security of our Plants, the Jamaica Fire Brigade also ensures a presence at our numerous outreach events and volunteer their time and effort to our executions.
During the month of May, CSR Officer Rashelle Muir executed our Labour Day activity at the Rollington Town Fire Station, where she supervised activities which included painting, gardening, and extensive plumbing works. The Labour Day activity was preempted with a donation handover in April, which featured items required for the complete renovation of the public restroom at the Station.
We are proud to be associated with the hardworking men and women of the Fire Departments across our locations and pledge to recognise their valiant contributions to society through the preservation of life and property.
JEP’s Labour Day impact extended beyond these three main locations. The company also actively supported smaller projects led by Community Development Councils and Associations within its social impact areas. These projects focused on community beautification, aiming to uplift the morale and create a more aesthetically pleasing environment for residents in inner-city communities. Additionally, JEP made Labour Day donations towards various beautification projects in East
Kingston and Port Royal Divisions, further demonstrating its commitment to the overall well-being of the communities it serves.
JEP’s Labour Day activities showcase the company’s dedication to inclusivity, community development, and recognising the critical role of its stakeholders.
Read Across Jamaica Day
As part of Child Month, the Ministry of Education has established the nationally renowned Read Across Jamaica Day initiative, which endorses reading at every level of education. JEP Group staff participated by reading to the Old Harbour Bay Primary School children while encouraging them to do well in their PEP (Primary Exit Preparation) diagnostic tests, that was scheduled for the same week.
JEP Supports Exam Preparations at the Maxfield Park Children’s Home
The children at the Maxfield Park Children’s Home are no strangers to the Jamaica Energy Partners Group. Every year, the Company supports this group of children through various donations and initiatives reminding them that they are loved.
In 2023, the JEP Group used Child’s Month as that period in which we would make them feel appreciated. The Company sponsored several pieces of stationery to aid primary and secondarylevel education students with their examinations.
Child’s Day 2023
Children’s Day was nationally celebrated on May 19, 2023. The JEP Group recognised this commemoration with sheer fun and excitement as the CSR Team treated one hundred (100) students and teachers to a day of fun at the Buzzers Playhouse, located in St Catherine. The energetic children, all of whom wore yellow, thoroughly enjoyed themselves while being entertained by CSR Officers Moya Mullings and Rashelle Muir.
To receive the items on behalf of the Home was a representative, Ms. Nellisa Asphall, who expressed gratitude for the timeliness of this gesture.
We at JEP wholeheartedly believe in providing a healthy space for children to strive academically, especially at the early childhood level. We also believe that children at this level need to have an appreciation of who they are to develop intrinsic personality traits that support good character. This day of fun allowed them to practise good teamwork and healthy competition and gave the teachers a sneak peek into how they socialise outside of the classroom.
JEP Supports Cultural Retention In
our Communities
The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) St Catherine Parish Office, an agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports, invited JEP to be a part of the exciting annual Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition. This competition was part of JCDC’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
Typically, the competition is open to young women between the ages of eighteen (18) to twenty-five (25) years. It is built on cultural awareness, personal achievement, leadership qualities, general knowledge on appreciation of the role of women, communication skills, creative talent, community involvement, deportment, and personality. The Miss Jamaica Festival Queen is also an outstanding role model
for other young women across the island as well as a local and international ambassador for Jamaica.
CSR Officer Moya Mullings and Rashelle Muir attended the sashing events and caught up with Jhanielle Power and Kimberley Samuels, respectively, who proudly represented, Both ladies did exceptionally well; Jhanielle was victorious at the National Competition and currently has the title of 1st Runner Up Miss Jamaica Festival Queen.
Christmas Distribution
For the neighbouring community of Old Harbour Bay, Christmas arrived early for some 800 residents, who received complimentary food packages consisting of starchy, legumes/grains, canned items, and children’s toys courtesy of the JEP Group. Our yearly distribution ensures that the areas in which we operate can thrive, be resilient and sustainable.
JEP Group Fetes Senior Citizens for World Senior Citizens Day
Every year, JEP joins the global celebration of World Senior Citizens Day, an occasion to honour and appreciate our community’s elderly. For 2023, the JEP Group treated our seniors to a spa day filled with pampering and camaraderie.
The day’s festivities offered a range of services, including manicures, pedicures, facials, and relaxing massages. JEP also ensured participants received essential dental care, including cleanings and even denture fabrication for those in need.
More than just days of pampering, the event served as a heartfelt tribute to our community’s elders. It was a time to acknowledge their remarkable contributions and remind them of the deep respect and appreciation they hold within the community.
Traditionally held in December, JEP made a special effort to align this year’s celebration with the global date of August 21. As a token of our gratitude, all participants received gifts, a warm meal, and a refreshing drink before heading home feeling refreshed and celebrated.
JEP Supports Young Women Through the Grace to Grow Foundation
The Grace to Grow Foundation facilitates a mentorship and training programme that caters to the spiritual, social, emotional, and physical needs of young women who need a second chance. The programme ran for three months, with a curriculum that included the following topics: Goal Setting, Money Management and budgeting, Time Management, Resume Writing, Entrepreneurship, SelfExpression, and Etiquette.
Upon learning about this movement, the JEP Group immediately expressed an interest and confirmed its sponsorship, as this level of support is necessary for young women, especially those scarred by emotional trauma and abuse.

JEP Celebrates the Jamaica Conservation and Development Trust’s Thirtieth Anniversary
JEP Group joined the festivities at Holywell Recreational Park to honour the Jamaica Conservation and Development Trust’s (JCDT) impressive 30th anniversary. The JEP team explored the JCDT Resource Center, showcasing the impeccably preserved artifacts that tell the story of Jamaica’s rich environmental and cultural heritage.
The event served as a testament to our commitment to environmental sustainability, aligning perfectly with the JCDT’s mission. The presence of Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Pearnel Charles Jr., further underscored the significance of the occasion. To top it all off, the official unveiling of a sculpture honouring Jamaica’s National Heroine, Nanny of the Maroons, added a special touch to the celebratory day.
JEP Group is proud to support organisations like the JCDT that tirelessly preserve our heritage and protect our environment for future generations.
International Coastal Clean Up Day!
Under the theme, “Sea the Change”, the JEP Group, supported by Evergo, undertook its annual beach clean-up exercise at the Sirgany Beach in Rockfort, Kingston, on Saturday, September 16, 2023. There, over eighty (80) volunteers, staff and scholarship recipients laboured together, collecting
over six thousand (6,000) pieces of plastics and other garbage from the beach.
The Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) is the island’s International Coastal Clean-up Day coordinator, providing execution guidelines for over one hundred
(100) organizations annually. For over twenty-five years, the Company has been an avid supporter of JET by serving in multiple capacities, which includes supporting public awareness for environmental preservation. JEP also holds a seat on the Board of Directors.
We are proud to be associated with this global movement and to contribute to the sustainability of our beaches and marine life.
Montego Bay Marine Park
JEP continues to support the Montego Bay Marine Park to aid with operational and campaign expenses. In 2023, JEP supported the Park’s successful completion of patrols, boat tours, and numerous campaigns, which exposed 400 visitors to various environmental campaigns about the importance of marine life.
The Park focused on improving the health of the reefs, beaches, and coastal areas by conserving the principal reef custodian, the Parrotfish. It is well established that parrotfish are integral to a healthy marine environment as they help to clean the harmful algae on the reefs. Moreover, they help to balance
a healthy ecosystem and protect the reefs and the marine life within the environs.
Consequently, coastal regions are protected by reefs, which prevent coastal erosion. Importantly, the Parrotfish also produce white sand contributing to beaches and clear waters, Jamaica’s number one tourism product.
JEP will continue its partnership with the Park to fulfill its environmental mandate while promoting the preservation and protection of our natural and most valuable resources.

Summer Camps
In an effort to reduce possible learning loss that may have been experienced during the academic year, the JEP Group took the initiative to sponsor children within the community whom teachers would consider to be struggling. The Company is an avid supporter of execution excellence at all levels, and as
a result, decided to support the students who have the impending Primary Exit Profile test and would have needed to begin preparations for same.
The students enjoyed intensive sessions courtesy of JEP, which covered materials, stipends for teachers involved, and meals.

Annual Christmas Party A Night of Opulence
JEP’s staff reveled in a night of elegance and mystery at our “Night of Opulence” staff party. Held at the Chinese Gardens in Hope Gardens, the event was a black-tie masquerade ball, where refinement met a touch of playful intrigue.
Media personality Debbie Bissoon served as our host, guiding the evening’s festivities. The dance floor came alive with energetic mixes by ZJ Ice and our very own DJ Snipe, keeping the party pumping well into the night.
