Celebrated as “the Spiritual Home of Australian Tennis”, the legendary Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club offers superb sporting and recreational facilities, exceptional social opportunities and exclusive Member privileges. As the former home of the Australian Open and several Davis Cup ties, as well as the annual venue for the celebrated AAMI Classic, Kooyong’s iconic stadium has hosted the great names of tennis, from Brookes, Goolagong and Sedgman to Cash, Agassi and Federer.
In many ways, the history of Kooyong is itself a history of Australian tennis. As “the Spiritual Home of Australian Tennis”, Kooyong is committed to supporting and enhancing this great game. Since 2000, the Kooyong Foundation has made significant strides in support of its two key objectives: To honour the rich traditions of Kooyong and Australian tennis. To provide positive, practical support for the development of the game in this country.
Today, Kooyong’s reputation as Australia’s premier tennis club is as sound as ever, following the completion of an extensive clubhouse redevelopment. Kooyong’s 26 manicured grass courts, 22 all-weather en tout cas courts and 3 Plexicushion courts will satisfy tennis players of all skill levels.
The Kooyong clubhouse represents a “Living Museum of Tennis”, which allows Members and guests to immerse themselves in snapshots, trophies and other special memorabilia featured in grand historical displays throughout the clubhouse. The Foundation also actively nurtures young talent. Through scholarships, annual tournaments and other junior development programs, some of Australia’s most deserving and talented juniors are given the opportunity to further develop their game.
Our expansive clubhouse offers Members a rich variety of additional facilities, including a fully equipped gymnasium, lap pool and spa, first-rate Pro Shop, billiards room and 4 international-standard squash courts. For fine dining, Members and their guests need look no further than Kooyong’s awardwinning Racquet Club restaurant, while the charming Hopman Bistro, Winter Garden and Members’ Bar offer other perfect settings for a relaxing drink, snack or meal. Today, Kooyong is also one of Melbourne’s premier function venues. Our newly refurbished function spaces feature all the modern conveniences, as well as spacious outdoor terraces offering spectacular views of Kooyong’s legendary grass courts. Featuring the opulent Kooyong Room as well as three distinguished seminar rooms, all set within our impressive grounds, this unique venue is the ideal location for your next important event. KOOYONG’S FACILITIES Tennis Courts
Squash Courts
Tennis players of all standards will enjoy Kooyong’s firstrate facilities, which include 26 beautifully manicured grass courts, 22 fully lit all-weather hard courts and 3 Plexicusion courts. Kooyong’s famous grass courts feature Legend Couch grass, providing the ideal characteristics for grass tennis well into June. Home to the annually celebrated AAMI Classic, our iconic stadium contains 3 Plexicushion courts, giving Members the opportunity to play on the same surface as the Australian Open. Our 22 floodlit en tout cas courts allow for year-round play and a booking system during peak times assists Members to access courts and enjoy the club. As one of the strongest competition clubs in the state, competition tennis at Kooyong is at an all-time high. We have a proud history of involvement in Tennis Victoria Pennant and an excellent junior development program. Kooyong also offers Members fantastic opportunities for social tennis, with several options available for all standards. Club Championships are held each February and are open to all categories of Members, while ladies and mixed team competition tennis is held weekly. The Kooyong International Tennis Academy offers the most professional, knowledgeable and innovative standard of coaching to players of all skill levels. Coaching can be arranged through the Pro Shop.
There has never been a better time to get involved with squash at Kooyong. Players of all skill levels and interested spectators alike are invited to make use of our 4 international-standard courts and remarkable facilities. As one of the leading private squash clubs in Victoria, Kooyong has a strong history with this great game and plays home to several current world ranked players and former world champions. Our proud competition record continues with the awarding of the annual Open Squash Trophy, Kooyong’s oldest competition trophy and one of Australia’s oldest squash trophies. From superb spectator areas raised above the courts, Members and their guests are invited to view some of the state’s finest squash players. We have a strong junior development program and coaching is also available to cater for all levels and all ages.
Pool & Spa From absolute beginners to serious swimming enthusiasts or those seeking a tranquil escape, our 4 lane 25-metre heated indoor pool is a superb facility available to all Members. Our soothing spa allows Members to relax at their leisure and is the perfect place to renew and revitalise. Open daily from 6:00 am, our pool is available for casual use and offers Aqua Aerobics classes, squads and children’s swimming lessons.
Gymnasium & Health Club Kooyong’s newly upgraded health club facilities provide significantly for our Members’ health and wellbeing needs. Open daily at 6:00 am, our fully equipped gymnasium offers Members ample opportunity to meet their fitness goals in a safe and pleasant environment. Our spacious studio is ideal for Aerobics, Pilates, Yoga, Power Bar and Fit Ball classes, all of which are regularly available. Members are invited to make use of our comprehensive personal training and group training programs. Meanwhile, our resident massage therapist is here to ensure Members can relax and recuperate while they achieve their fitness goals. These terrific services and facilities allow Kooyong to offer Members the very best experience in health and fitness.
The Members’ Lounge Members are invited to make themselves at home in our new Members’ Lounge. Comfortably furnished and featuring an open fireplace and abundant natural light, this room is a delightful spot for reading, cards, board games or simply enjoying a quiet coffee.

The Pro Shop & Tennis Coaching
Bridge
Kooyong’s Pro Shop is fully equipped to cater for our Members’ needs, with tennis, squash and gym merchandise and plenty of in-house services. Many leading athletic apparel and footwear brands are available for purchase, along with a comprehensive range of Kooyong branded clothing. In addition to a wide variety of tennis, gym and fitness gear, the Pro Shop offers a try-before you-buy racquet program and a 24-hour or less restringing service. Tennis coaching and crèche bookings can also be arranged through the Pro Shop. The Kooyong International Tennis Academy offers players of all skill levels the best possible tennis training. From technique and game tactics to physical fitness and mental strength, our professional, knowledgeable and innovative coaches are experts at improving your game.
The Kooyong Bridge Club is an extremely welcoming social group that has been running for around 20 years. The Club holds two Duplicate Bridge sessions a week at Kooyong, with the opportunity to socialise over dinner beforehand at a dedicated Bridge table in the Bistro. Members are also invited to attend lessons, which are held twice per month. Other events throughout the year include the Annual Congress and Dinner, team matches against other Bridge clubs, the Borin Trophy Pairs Competition and the Club Championships.
Billiards & Snooker With an exceptional atmosphere and three full-size Billiards tables, the Billiards Room is the hidden gem of Kooyong’s Clubhouse. Visitors can rest while waiting their turn on one of several comfortable couches while admiring the walls lined with historic memorabilia. Members can make use of free coaching, casual table hire, social matches, team competition or our annual Club Championships in both snooker and billiards.
Reciprocal Clubs For those Members travelling within Australia or overseas, Kooyong’s worldwide network of reciprocal clubs offers significant benefits. Visit some of the most prestigious clubs throughout Asia, Europe, Great Britain, the USA, Canada and South America through our international affiliations. The number of reciprocal clubs continues to grow as we seek to give Members the opportunity to feel at home wherever they travel. There are also reciprocal arrangements here in Victoria and interstate that provide added value to the Kooyong Membership.

Crèche The Kooyong Crèche is a wonderful child care service available for Members to use when enjoying the Club. Parents can enjoy the Club’s new facilities, knowing their children are in a safe, caring and enjoyable environment with our trained and qualified staff. During school terms, the crèche operates from 9:15 am to 12:00 pm, Mondays to Thursdays, and from 9:15 am to 12:15 pm on Fridays.
The AAMI Classic Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club’s grand legacy as “the Spiritual Home of Australian Tennis” lives on with this world-class tournament. Each January, eight of the world’s top male players are invited to compete in this round robin singles event held at Kooyong’s iconic centre court. Taking place over four days, the AAMI Classic provides extraordinary opportunities for corporate dining and entertaining. Our fabulous corporate packages will ensure your guests are completely satisfied with their experience. Enjoy the casual comfort of the Winter Garden, a glass roofed extension of the Bistro, which opens out onto the spacious Goolagong Terrace. The ever-popular barbeque area gives Members a chance to cook their own meal against the stunning backdrop of Kooyong’s grass courts and the city skyline.
