Victoria Cross A privately acquired replacement Victoria Cross worn by Able Seaman George Hinkley awarded for China in October 1862, with case. He lost his original Victoria Cross at a funeral and paid 24 shillings to obtain a replacement for wear. Subsequently he was able to also obtain an official replacement. Hinkley's Victoria Cross is unique to the Royal Navy for this campaign.
