Vivo Forever Add some spice to your kitchen with TKC’s extended Vivo kitchen door range.
T
wo years since it was first launched, TKC’s mid-market Vivo door range has become one of the company’s best-selling collections, due to its resilient design
and competitive price point. Featuring high-gloss, painted slab doors from Italy, the Vivo range has been designed
to reflect current consumer trends. Available in four hues - Vivo White, Vivo Cashmere and the newly added Vivo Grey and Vivo Ivory - the range illustrates how the same kitchen can achieve four very different looks. “Vivo Grey epitomises modern living,” explains Jitendra Mistry, Design Manager at TKC. “With its bold lines, it brings a fresh and contemporary look to any home, whilst the equally stylish Vivo Ivory combines sophistication with a classic colour to achieve a timeless finish.” Available in a range of stock and bespoke sizes that can be accentuated by co-ordinating straight and curved cornices, the inclusion of pan drawers and curved doors can add a further air of exclusivity, whilst careful attention to painted door edges ensures a high quality finish. Jitendra adds, “The mid-market is important to us and the new Vivo additions perfectly demonstrate how a sleek designer look can be created on even a modest budget.”
Top: Create a timeless finish with Vivo’s classic Ivory. Middle: The light, warm grey hue of Vivo Cashmere offers an overall clean, crisp feel. Bottom: Vivo White in a high gloss finish is ideally placed in both a classic or contemporary setting.

A
s a manufacturer of kitchen and bedroom doors, BA Components knew it made sense to launch its first sliding
door range, Glidor, to the UK market this year. “In the last 10 years, the UK home has shrunk by two square
metres and with this comes a growing demand for better storage solutions,” explains David Caulfield, BA’s Sales and Marketing Director. David explains, “One in five homes are being modified to create more space due to over crowding and more possessions, so with this in mind BA Components want to make lives a bit easier with Glidor.” Custom made and manufactured within eight days, the sliding door range is available in three options - Urban, Ultra and Unique. Urban, which is an MFC brand that is new to the door manufacturer, comprises of ten 18mm Egger colours including Alabaster, Cashmere, Coco Bolo and White Swiss Larch - which are available in four different panel combinations. The Ultra option offers ultra gloss and matt designs finished in Senoplast Acrylic, PET, PVC and lacquered colours, whilst the Unique range offers thirty-three Bella 18mm vinyl wrapped colours and five distinctive door styles, giving you full control of your design. “The range is very flexible and can be used in the bedroom, home office and general living areas,” explains David. “With over 60 colours to choose from, you really can create your perfect design with ease. We have a lot of loyal bedroom dealers and we listen to their opinions. They’ve asked us for a sliding solution to complete the BA Bedroom offer. The result is the innovative Glidor. It really does tick all the boxes.”

German kitchen manufacturer Schüller launches its 2015 country style kitchen collection.
A
fter returning from its largest and most successful retailer trip to Kitchen Mile in Germany, German kitchen manufacturer Schüller has filled a gap in the market with the launch of a comprehensive Country style kitchen collection for 2015. Retailers can now experience sought-after German manufacturing quality and design combined with country style kitchen character, perfect for the more traditional UK consumer. There are six new ranges in the Country collection - Canto, Domus, Riva, Casa, Finca and Garda - plus further colours and finishes in the Bari collection. These sit alongside the current classic styles of Breda and Cambia. Demonstrating Schüller’s trend-setting nature, the extensive additions present a country house look in a new, modern and relaxed living style. Accessories such as grooved support panels, plate racks, pull-out pan storage beneath hob units and open shelf units, enable kitchen designers to create a typical country kitchen or a contemporary environment with a homely feel.
CANTO
Canto, meaning song, is based on a Shaker style with grooved panelled fronts. The legs and shaped plinths give the impression of freestanding units with the benefits of a fully fitted design. Canto is available in 28 satin lacquer colours for fronts, open shelf units, support panels and plinths. Pictured in Sand grey satin lacquer.
Wayne Dance, Managing Director of InHouse, adds, “What is fantastic is that Schüller hasn’t just introduced one country range. It’s a full collection that will satisfy every consumer from the most aspirational through to those on a tight budget. The choice is enormous from the full range of Schüller colours, to refined country tones in natural hues. The details are what make the difference here. That’s why Schüller has called it More Country.” For more information contact InHouse Inspired Room Design on 01661 842304, info@inhouseltd.co.uk, www.inhouseuk.net or www.inhousecaribbean.com Domus is available in 6 natural hues - White, Magnolia, Sand Grey (pictured right), Agate Grey, Blue Grey, Sage Green - in a silk gloss lacquered front. ith over 35 years experience in the kitchen door industry, Landau Holdings Ltd is no stranger to keeping abreast of the latest kitchen trends. The family-run business, which holds the UK distribution rights to Parapan®, has seen a rise in demand for painted and curved doors. To emulate this trend, it has re-launched its Brooklands in-frame and Natures Choice lay-on door ranges for 2014. “Choice is key and bespoke offerings are a must when working with respectable retailers, designers and architects,” explains Gareth Atkin, Sales and Marketing Director. Both on-trend door ranges offer 13 different styles that can be sized to order, a choice of 24 standard colours and a paint to order service that is completed in Landau’s new, state-of-the-art drying facility. To offer a complete bespoke solution, custom sizes and 66 standard curves in convex and concave designs and varied dimensions are also available. The diversity of Landau’s door ranges are, in part, due to the company’s strong relationship with Parapan®. The high gloss, solid acrylic, which offers flexibility and endless design capabilities, has long been associated with Landau’s sleek, flowing kitchen designs but more recently, it is being specified for commercial and retail projects thanks to its mirror-like qualities, curve-ability and UV resistance. Available in 18mm thickness for doors, drawers and panels and 4mm for cladding and screens, Parapan® can be cut to bespoke sizes and thermoformed into curves and fitted with a choice of edge treatments and finger pulls, or any style of handle for doors and drawers. e are currently seeing a shift towards open-plan living. The kitchen, dining room and living room are seamlessly merging into one and with this trend showing no sign of slowing down, the need for intelligent light systems that can not only offer adequate lighting as a whole, but that can adapt quickly and easily when walking between room zones, is becoming a growing commodity. Recently investing heavily in its Leeds-based testing laboratory, Sycamore’s wireless lighting control system ticks all the boxes. The flexible design, which has been rigorously tested in its state-of-theart facility, provides all the benefits of a sophisticated and complex system without the need to fully re-wire. This allows it to be used in new installations as well as being a simple retro-fit system for existing installations. Making smart homes a reality, Sycamore’s qualified electronic experts have designed mood lighting configurations that offer the user the ability to recall a scene or mood of lighting at the touch of a button, whilst controlling multiple circuits and lamp types within a domestic environment. The actual control of the circuits can be from wall plate switches that communicate wirelessly with specific receiver modules. There is even the option to create a bridge unit that can be connected to a home router. This allows you to control your lighting from the Sycamore iPhone, iPad and Android apps that have been designed specifically for this product. Digital communication means system integration is easily achievable by linking the lighting to AV, security and home controllers. Garden lighting can also be integrated into the system and for the optimum light setting, LED, fluorescent and halogen lighting can be dimmed using the appropriate wireless module. A full design service and technical back-up is also on hand for piece of mind. For more information call 0113 286 6686 or visit www.sycamorelightingltd.co.uk

hen you picture a painted kitchen, what do you see? Not so long ago, the painted kitchen was seen as a traditional finish for those opting for a rustic, country-style kitchen. Quintessentially English, it scored more highly on its homely appeal than its design innovation. But today, the painted kitchen is experiencing something of a renaissance, with UK consumers looking to create nostalgia and warmth in their homes. To work with the rustic sawn look, wood panel manufacturer Egger has launched a revolutionary new range of MFC boards that are virtually indistinguishable from a painted

timber finish. Exclusive to the UK market, the ST27 range, which is ideal for carcasses, end panels, plinths and doors, can be used to replicate the highly-popular painted finish at a fraction of the price. It also offers a lowmaintenance alternative to timber without the time-consuming operations that cutting and working with veneers involves. The innovative range, which offers an underlying oak-grain design by using a new texture plate during manufacture, comprises ten décors in neutral heritage uni-colours, as well as a painting-grade option - effectively a primed
board that the customer can paint in any colour of their choice. “At the higher end of the market, leading manufacturers are offering a bespoke approach to design. With Egger’s ST27 range, you have the ability to paint according to requirements, giving those manufacturers with painting facilities a wide scope to keep stocks low and produce according to demand,” explains Nick McClughin, Head of Marketing for Egger UK. To add to the designs, matching 0.8mm edging and a 2mm painting-grade option are available to spray any colour, offering a simple approach to the creation of a timeless, highvalue look. “There isn’t really anything like this in the market at the moment, hence the buzz around its launch,” explains Nick. “Our customers are excited about the new range as it provides them with a product that replicates the look of painted timber or veneer at a price point that may allow them to enter a new market segment, enhance or protect margins, compete at a higher price point or gain market share.” For more information, or samples, contact the Egger ZOOM® hotline on 0845 606 8888 or visit www.egger.co.uk KITCHEN AND BATHROOM JOURNAL FEBRUARY 2014 • 11

Warnock Watson Managing Director, Bellissimo.
Market Insight: More than ever before, tastes in cabinetry have converged. There is still a wealth of choice, but fivepiece and slab doors, increasingly handleless, account for a disproportionate slice of the market between them. And because of this, the need for choice and differentiation in other areas has also reached an unprecedented peak. Bespoke sizes, a choice of curves and colour-matching services are no longer As white gets into its stride for 2014, Bellissimo has added two matt choices to its line-up of kitchen, bedroom and bathroom door and drawer fronts. Porcelain and Cashmere offer respectively a bright, fresh and a more muted, softer variation on the theme of white, which has made a strong comeback this year. the preserve of the high end. They have become essential tools for the retailer, and need to be offered on short lead times. There is no reason why quality should suffer as a result of this new reality. Poor quality comes from substandard equipment, quality control and logistics. The sort of choice now available to the mass market in kitchens is merely in line with the choices and flexibility which consumers expect in other areas of their lives.
netry Landau’s Stevian Kitchen adds glamour and luxury to penthouse living. Cream and purple violet have been used to create a high-end kitchen solution that creates a sense of space. The key opportunity differentiation for fitted furniture now lies in the finish. Woodgrain and colours make equal claims to the consumer’s attention, particularly because of trends in kitchen design. The popularity of specifying an island with contrasting wall units means buyers are not forced to choose between a woodgrain or solid colour, but can have a bit of both in perfect harmony. The use of woodgrain helps the kitchen blend with other living areas, which is another reason why it is holding its own. One new theme attracting the attention of consumers looking for something a bit different is rustic timber in a modern context, with finishes starting to veer towards strongly figured woodgrains, bleaching, plank effects and the distressed look. Oak is a strong contender but even pine is showing signs of a revival. Embossed finishes are also on the rise, giving a fresh, tactile dimension. As for colours, the white slab door is still very important. Grey and brown are the emerging

colours at all price points, and this goes for woodgrains as well as solid colours. Grey and brown might not sound like a cheerful prospect, but the reality is that it actually works very well and makes for a sophisticated look. Within these themes, the gloss look is here to stay, but matt is coming through strongly. Demand varies considerably across the country. Floods and economic prosperity have not been dealt out equally, although low interest rates and a cautious level of optimism mean there is business out there to be had. But we need to meet and exceed expectations for choice and service, not just manage them.

Ingenious fabrics with a graphic weave and quality accessories like porcelain or side tables in low-key shades are available for those not yet ready to have whole furniture items in pastel hues. &% *(/ (% !) A clear black and white look is given a touch of nature and out-of-the-ordinary colour accentuation. The contrast of black and white gives a look of distinctive, puristic elegance and works successfully with the warm colours of natural oak as well as graphic contours, dark-veined white marble and unusual ceramic tiles. %# %(* ) /%+() A finely-attuned palette of olive, ochre and the deep browns of dark woodgrains gives an elegant impression. Unexpected materials like brass, copper and natural stone can set surprising accents and all work when combined with carefully selected surfaces in wire-brushed wood, vintage-look fabrics or dark oak and walnut. The result of the sombre hues and soft glow of metal is a glamorous yet mystic upmarket setting.
