. While working with the concept of London earlier in the brief I began developing this set of minimal almost business card like info graphs , displaying icons of the city. Icons of the city was going to be my original focus , however work from this stage has developed and turned into what my final piece is today. You can see the minimal iconography of the London bus I developed move right through this project. However I moved away from this concept and onto ticket design as I felt my work needed more of an audience and purpose. I began questioning where this iconography would actually work in the real world , and thus began redeveloping the idea.

I began reworking both the idea of the ticket design and iconography into a range of different formats , with the idea this company could use the exact same style throughout its fleet of vehicles. The concept being the colours are as much as the brand as anything else and in a similar way you see the Cadbury’s purple you’d be able to recognise the ‘Exec’ branding.

I spent a lot of time perfecting the idea that the coloured edges to each ticket could be printed different depending on what journey was being under taken. Here I’ve arranged a few possible examples of a selection of journeys to test this concept. This whole concept is what the company ‘Executive travel’ (shortened to Exec), is built upon. The idea being you could buy just one ticket to cover your whole journey across the whole Exec fleet of transport! This fleet consists of a range of national trains,buses and trams. Followed by a selection of planes to cover international journeys too.

. With it being 2014 I began to redevelop the idea into a mobile application for the convince of the modern age. In doing this I had to consider type size and fonts as this would be completely different on a digital display to my original ticket concept.

I began developing the three different pages you could go through in deciding your journey. The concept being you could select a place and destination and the app would decide a route for you!

To create my ticket and app I have had to develop a range of original iconographies. While creating my London logo selection earlier in the development stages I began working with the minimal London bus design. This silhouette idea was then further developed to convey the other selection of transport available on the Exec fleet and thus these icons were born and over time refined to fit the needs of my work. In the creation of the app, logos such as a home button and a back button were needed. In this case I began the same process and began developing these icons follows my same silhoutted minimal rule from the vehicle design. Over time these too became more and more refined , until arriving at the final selections at the very bottom of this page.

This is the final edition of the iPhone app and has been developed to be as simple and as user friendly as possible. This has seen a range of changes to font sizes, scale, shapes and colour. This has allowed it to maximise its usability. I have developed the idea like the idea of only needing one ticket, once you’ve bought the journey you have passes to cross on every mode of transport needed. The idea also has linked into Apple’s passport to further increase its simplicity.
