Top 4 Best Reel For Jack Crevalle

I am writing this article with the hope that you can learn how to catch a Jack Crevalle. Every angler has their own unique style and approach, but after spending many seasons on the water I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of what works and what doesn't when catching these saltwater pigs. So, here we go: #4 Penn Battle II 5000 Reel The Penn Battle II 5000 is a great reel for Jack Crevalle. The size of this reel is right in between the smaller Penn 6000 and the larger Penn 9000 so it gives you plenty of line capacity with out being too big or too small. I found that when I used lighter tackle I could get away with a Penn 5000. The downside to this reel is the fact that when you hook into a Jack Crevalle and when they start pulling drag, your arms will be feeling it big time because of the over sized knobs on the side of the reel. If you're using 50 or 80 lb braid this isn't to much of an issue but when you're using 20-30 lb mono it's not easy on the arms. Aside from that aspect, the Penn 5000 was a great reel for Jack Crevalle. The rotor in this reel is really smooth and doesn't require too much maintenance which is always nice when you're in the middle of a fishing trip. All and all, this reel is a pretty solid choice if you're looking for something that will hold plenty of line & give you just enough drag power to stop a Jack Crevalle.

#3 Shimano Curado 200E6C Reel The Shimano Curado 200E6C is the perfect size for throwing both topwaters and soft plastics. This reel has just enough power to stop a Jack Crevalle but it's not too heavy so your arms won't be worn out by the end of the day. I usually use this reel when I'm fishing smaller baits like 1/4-3/8 oz topwaters and 5 inch jerk baits. #2 Penn Slammer III Reel

I have been using the Penn Slammer III for a number of years and it's always been my go to reel when I'm throwing lighter lures like 1/4 oz topwaters and 2-3 inch swimbaits. This reel is the exact same size as the Shimano Curado 200E6C but it has more drag power which is great when you hook into a big Jack Crevalle. One of my favorite things about this reel it how smooth the action is on the handle when reeling in your line. Another thing that I like about this reel is that even with the larger drag, it's able to still cast very far. The only downside to this reel is that with the size of the handle and the fact that you're gripping it all day long, your palm can get a bit sore during a full day of fishing. Other than that one factor, I really like this reel for Jack Crevalle. #1 Shimano Baitrunner D Reel The Shimano Baitrunner D is an awesome reel for everything you can throw at Jack Crevalle! This reel has a huge line capacity which allows you to use it for throwing both lighter plastics as well as using really heavy braided lines. I typically use this reel when I'm throwing 30-80 lb braid. Another great thing about the Shimano Baitrunner D is that it's really smooth and gives you just enough drag power to stop a Jack Crevalle in its tracks, but not so much drag that your arms will be tired out by the end of the day. When I'm using this reel, I usually fish 1/8-1/4 oz topwaters and 3-5 inch soft plastics. The reason that this reel is great for these types of lures is mainly due to the over sized handle which allows you to grip it with out slipping. If you're looking for a great all around reel for Jack Crevalle, this is a great choice. See more: https://fishinghacking.com/how-to-choose-fishing-reel-for-jack-crevalle/
