SEPTEMBER 2013 - NEWSLETTER A WARM WELCOME

JIHIHJJHHHH Welcome, or welcome back, to all children and their families. We hope that you have had a refreshing break and are looking forward to the challenges and events that the next three terms will bring. We are also welcoming two new specialist teaching assistants – Miss Chloe Horsfield & Mrs Fiona Walker – who will be working as a job share in Red Class Last year ended on a ‘high’ with the fantastic performances of ‘The Emerald Crown’ – thank you for your support with this and it is just worth reflecting on how brilliant all of the children were. Please note that the first ‘Wall of Fame’ assembly will be next Friday – 13th September – at 9.00am. For those parents who are new to the school, the ‘Wall of Fame’ assembly is where we celebrate the achievements of the children throughout the school – it is always an open invite and usually lasts approximately half an hour – we hope to see you there...

RECORDER & PIANO TUITION Piano and recorder lessons, taught by Alice Clarke, are due to re-start on Tuesday 10th September. Recorder lessons (up to 3 children per group) cost £4.50 per week, whilst individual piano lessons are £10 per half an hour or £5 per quarter of an hour. If you would like your child/ren to either start or continue with instrumental lessons, please contact Tracey in the office by the end of this week for further details and so that we can confirm uptake with Mrs Clarke.

LABELS, PLEASE Please could you ensure that all of your child’s clothing is clearly named to ensure that any mislaid clothing can quickly be returned to its owner!

HOW HILL We have organised a three day residential trip to How Hill Environmental Education Centre for Wednesday 26th – Friday 28th March 2014. This will be available to all children in Years 3 - 6 who are interested. Cost is likely to be in the region of £150. SWIMMING Next Friday (13th) sees the beginning of swimming at Framlingham College. For the first five weeks it will be Years 2 & 3 swimming, whilst Years 4, 5 & 6 will be either in the sports hall or outside using the astroturf. Swimmers will need a swimming hat, towel and suitable costume / trunks. No bikinis or Bermuda shorts are allowed.

HARVEST FESTIVAL This year’s Harvest Festival will take place in St. Mary’s Church at 9.30am on Monday 23rd September. We hope that you are able to join us – further details to follow.

PARENTS AS READERS We are always looking for ways in which we can improve the children’s reading skills and confidence. We believe that even the oldest children greatly benefit from being heard by an adult. If you can spare some time during the school day to listen to readers, please contact any member of staff.
