Task Comments 20160226 Notes Commenting in tasks via email & app. GOAL - Keep user communication in app as much as possible. Collects and creates history of comments per task which can be viewed and searched. Reporter creates tasks which are assigned to assignee(s). Assignee can enter a comment for the task which is then seen by somebody and replied to turning into a conversation. Somebody can see a task and comment on it, thus becoming part of the conversation. Currently can only comment on each task and not multiple tasks at once. Watchers can join in a conversation if they wish via link or comment. ASIDE - watchers are triggered by form submissions. Reporters don’t necessarily get comment notification. Assignee comments do not go to all other assignees. FUTURE - Account roles can determine if initial comments made by assignee go to a specific person/role with notification. FUTURE - Someone else mentioning @name while commenting can add that person to the conversation. FUTURE - Should anyone get notifications for initial comment? An email reply counts as a comment. An app comment entry counts as a comment. Reporter/Manager can see all tasks in a task list. Sort to see tasks with comments. Should there be a comment read/not read status on the task? What states can a task have? Currently open/closed(?) and a task cannot be reopened. Maybe add actionable/not actionable?
1. Wireframe for email & in app replies. Assignees usually in app. Managers usually via email. 2. Surface tasks with comments. Email digests, task listing screens. 3. Respond to comment via email(?) & in app. Now part of the conversation. 4. Assignee sees the reply. Any notification? 5. Reply by email or in app. Does this send an email and/or notification to the responder? Watchers can see the report page. When a submission is created and a task is created. Give the watcher a link to join the conversation “@name has joined the conversation.” Or an actual reply. Give a view for all tasks you are a part of. “My conversations” filter. Think about comment… History Collating View Search For each comment, @name and date/time posted. FUTURE - Allow editing and deleting of comments? How about leaving a conversation? Does Zenput usually do most recent items top-down or bottom-up? Comments should conform to the company standard. Not sure in what cases an email for a task is sent. In task list view, order tasks with comments at the top? Show all tasks with comments? No sorting or ordering for initial phase? Show partial comment in list view or just the commenter’s name and timestamp?
Unless manager is really involved, could just not interact or see any of the tasks with comments. Should/can we assign the task to somebody when comment is entered? Probably not since no one specific is assigned to receiving comments currently. Surface the existence of comments in email digest to managers and on the tasks listing screen. Dashboard? PROJECT OVERALL - reoccurring tasks & projects. Assigned every week potentially. Vlad & multiple customers have been asking for this. Wanted communications to be possible within the app. Copyright ©2016 James Park | Confidential
