FRIENDS OF THE FINE ARTS Season 2016-2017

Y

ou can open doors and transform lives through the arts at the University of Jamestown by your membership in the Friends of the Fine Arts Society! A love of the arts is a common bond among many of us, and it links alumni, friends, and community members alike. From locations as diverse as Anchorage, Alaska; Billings, Montana; La Quinta, California, Scranton, Pennsylvania, Downers Grove, Illinois, Tucson, Arizona; Jamestown, North Dakota—and many places in between—UJ’s Friends of the Fine Arts continue showing their support over the years! You are invited to share in the excitement of the dozens of choral music, theatre, visual arts, and instrumental music productions our students and faculty have planned for you, our audience. An updated listing of the 2016-2017 arts events may be found on the Calendar at www.uj.edu. Your support of the Friends directly enhances the quality of University of Jamestown productions, and provides scholarship assistance to our talented students in the liberal arts. It also supports the Friends’ mission of “providing our students opportunities to develop their understanding of acting, music, and art on a worldly and academic stage.” All gifts to the Friends of the Fine Arts will be gratefully received and will be counted as part of the University of Jamestown’s current $60 million comprehensive campaign, Opening Doors Transforming Lives. Please review this pamphlet, and join as a member of University of Jamestown’s 20162017 Friends of the Fine Arts season today!

What is a Jimmie Generation Scholarship? Jimmie Generation Scholarships offer support to studentscholars, student-artists, and student-athletes at the University of Jamestown. These annual scholarships of $500 or more enable donors like you to assist current students. You may choose to give a one-time gift; however, we encourage donors to make a four-year commitment, so you may connect one-on-one with a student throughout their Journey at the University. Your gift will also advance the University of Jamestown’s mission as part of our current comprehensive campaign, Opening Doors, Transforming Lives. Since this scholarship program’s beginning in 2010, over 255 Jimmie Generation Scholarships have been established and awarded, impacting the lives of hundreds of students. Show your personal commitment to the arts at University of Jamestown by establishing a Jimmie Generation Scholarship today! For more information, contact Karen H. Crane at kcrane@uj.edu or 701.252.3467 extension 5512. Or, learn more at uj.edu.

Looking back on my time at the University of Jamestown, being a part of the Concert Choir is something that I will always treasure. On our tour every spring, we were able to inspire, share, and connect with others through our music. Being a part of the choir has allowed me to experience true joy and peace as a musician and a student at the University of Jamestown. Carley Ward, Class of 2016

The beautiful Reiland Fine Arts Center, named after alumna and major benefactor Rose Mary Reiland ’47, is nearly 47,000 square feet and includes the 700-seat DeNault Auditorium. The facility houses the University’s music, art, and theatre departments and is home to the campus music and theatre performances, the Performing Arts Series, and many other productions sponsored by the University and the community. Student art is showcased in the Kenneth A. Meier Lobby and Gallery.
