Dear <<Salutaion>>

MAKE YOUR MONEY FLY Think of a sum and multiply it by ten. This could be the value of your gift to local wildlife today! It might sound too good to be true, but your donation really is key to unlocking a treasure trove of extra funding worth thousands of pounds that could make a huge difference to local nature. This amazing opportunity to make your donation worth 10 x more is thanks to the Landfill Communities Fund. Image: Small Copper © Brian Eversham

For example, if you give £10 it could release up to £100 from the Fund – it’s as simple as that.

How can this be?

Landfill site operators pay a tax when they bury waste. Some of this money goes into the Landfill Communities Fund for projects that benefit the environment. Charities like the Trust can bid for this money to help with our vital nature conservation work– but only if donors provide at least 10% of the total funds needed. We are asking you to help us today to unlock this money by donating the initial 10 per cent.

Ten times better for wildlife

Wildlife across our three counties has already been helped in so many ways using landfill funding. For example: n East Pit in Cambridge has been transformed from a neglected overgrown wasteland in to a haven for glow worms, blue butterflies and rare chalk grassland flowers. The endangered moon carrot, found in only two other places in the UK, is now thriving there. n Five wildflower meadows in Bedfordshire have been improved with the help of a new tractor and other equipment – so that bees, butterflies, hedgehogs, cuckoos and scarce wildflowers can survive and flourish. n Dormice, nightingales, lesser spotted woodpeckers and white admiral butterflies are just a few species benefitting from the restoration of 200 hectares of woodland in Northamptonshire.

Help local wildlife even more I am a UK taxpayer and I would like all donations made to the Wildlife Trust in the last four years and in future to be treated as Gift Aid donations. I confirm I have paid or will pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs that I donate to will reclaim on my gifts for that tax year (other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify). I understand the Wildlife Trust will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give and this may be used for any of the Trust’s work.

So much more to do

We have another five important conservation projects to protect local wildlife that could benefit from Landfill Communities Funding, but this will only happen if we find find the 10% matched funds to release the grant from people like you. Please help us secure this funding by making a gift today. I hope you will feel able to help us grasp this amazing opportunity. With best wishes
