milton Glaser
Milton Glaser was born in New York in 1929. He attended the Cooper Union art school obtained a scholarship to study at the Acadamy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Italy. Much of Glaser’s work has been logo and editorial design.

Milton Glaser attended the High School of Music and Art and went on to study at the Cooper Union art school. Through a Fulbright scholarship he was able to study under painter Giorgio Morandi at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Italy. Glaser found inspirtation from Picasso, Art Nouveau and designers Herbert Bayer, Lester Beall and Paul Rand. In 1954, Glaser co-founded Pushpin Studios with Reynold Ruffins, Seymour Chwast and Edward Sorel. Of his work at Pushpin, his Bob Dylan poster is one of his most famous posters of the 1960’s. Glaser began to establish his own studio Milton Glaser, Inc in 1974, and left Pushpin in 1976. Milton Glaser, Inc focuses on print graphics and corporate and institutional identities. He has also done some environmental and interior design of restuarants, supermarkets, hotels and shopping malls. He designed restaurants in the World Trade Center, Observation Deck and the Permanent Exhibition for the Twin Towers in 1975. One of Glaser’s most famous works is the New York logo of 1976. He has designed and illustrated more than 300 posters through his studio.

Glaser teamed up with Walter Bernard to create WBMG, a publication design firm. WBMG designed more than 50 magazines, newspapers and periodicals world wide. They were responsible for the redesigns of The Washington Post, La Vanguardia (Barcelona) and O Globo (Rio), and had magazine clients like Time, U.S. News & World Report and PC Magazine. They created the original designs for ESPN, Windows and Manhattan Inc. Another of Glaser’s major accomplishments was New York Magazine. It became the model for future city magazines and is still thriving today. Glaser has been recognized for his work, receiving many awards. He was the first graphic designer to receive the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama. Milton Glaser, Inc is still creating in NYC.
