elcome to the 69th Annual Bluewater Sale. It’s been a privilege to work with the club over the past 5 years in bringing a strong group of cattle to the sale year in and year out. A large group of bred females this year are on offer meaning there are many valuable coupons to be clipped in these services. Top quality Angus females are always in strong demand as they are the mother cow in the industry and for good reason. The offering has been hand selected to make your purchase be a profitable one from not only herds that have been long established in Ontario but also from some up and coming breeders that are taking their job seriously. In touring this summer throughout Ontario and Western Canada it is always a pleasure to see the cattle that have come out of the sale doing well in their new herds. Customer satisfaction is a must in any business, buy with confidence! We welcome you to join us Friday evening for a preview of the offering with some Angus cheer. Saturday come early to inspect the offering while enjoying lunch and more Angus fellowship amongst good company. If you have any questions regarding the offering or are unable to make the sale please feel welcome to contact any of the sales staff or Mike or myself at Castlerock Marketing See you sale day!

O
n behalf of the board I would like to welcome and invite you to our 69th consecutive Bluewater sale.It is still a great time to be in the angus business. There will be enough hay around and commodities are cheap.Replacing those older cows has never made more sense. There really is something for everybody here including the commercial breeder looking to start a registered herd.Shane has worked hard to select only the best from the consignors. The consignors have done an amazing job of presenting this group for your evaluation. You can be confident these cattle will do a great job for you. Thanks for your partipation and enjoy the times.

Scomac Blackbird 128D has cow power written all over her. She is extremely long bodied, big ribbed with a smooth ultra feminine front. This calf ’s pedigree is stacked top and bottom with maternal power. Her sire, MAR Innovation 251 combines Connealy Impression and Final Answer, providing 128D with great maternal traits and added performance. Her dam, Locust Grove Blackbird 11W, has been a big time producer for us. She always calves unassisted with low birthweight calves that grow quickly and wean off at the top of the group. This heifer is the best out of 11W to date and confident that she will make a great addition to any herd. Entered at the National Angus show at the RAWF.

SCOMAC Bess 201D is a perfect example of what the Bess cow family has been for us; she is wide-based, big-footed, square-hipped, longfronted, powerful, moderate and fancy. This cow family started for us with 201D’s granddam, Curraghdale Bess 31X, a SAV 004 Density 4336 LOT 2 daughter. These cows are moderate-framed, gorgeous-uddered, bigbodied, easy doing and extremely productive. We used MAR Innovation 251 on some of our top cows last spring and we are extremely happy with the calf crop he produced. Combining Innovation and SCOMAC Bess 111Z, the Sitz Dash dam of 201D, has created a pedigree stacked with maternal sires including SAV Density, SAV Final Answer, Sitz Upward and Connealy Impression. Whether you want a show heifer or a brood cow prospect SCOMAC Bess 201D will not disappoint. She is entered at the National Angus Show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.

Another Jesse female here and out of the same dam. MRK 3Z. Same breeding as the bred heifer in the sale. She is a quiet heifer. And will turn into a great cow. Carbon copy females have given us beautiful uddered cows the kind you want in your herd. JL on the sire side and Youngdale bloodlines on the dams. Have a good look here.

Rob Roy Miss Princess 15C is a well structured and feminine bred heifer sired by our Glen Islay Winston herd bull, who himself had a very notable pedigree and left us with many excellent calves that came on their own and had great growth characteristics. Her dam is a thick and LOT 5 quiet female, traits passed on to 15 C, who goes back to Glen Islay Blue Label 27G on the top side and TC Advantage on the bottom side. Rob Roy Miss Princess 15 C was bred to Final Product, who has great EPD numbers and a reputation for productive daughters, on April 24, 2016. She was exposed to Rob Roy Brilliance 6C who was sired by SAV Brilliance 8077 from May 9 to July 8, 2016. Checked safe in calf by genetic vet favouring the AI date.

This cow family ranks high in our books coming out of one of our favorite cows, 213S! This cow family is becoming quite large as they tend to always make the replacement pen. Carrying the powerful genetics of Bardolene, New Trend and the former Agribition Champion Dynasty 03G! Destined to be a front pasture female that is also carrying service to our Shagbark Roanan 2B for an April calf.

We believe that the maternal strength of the Angus breed is one of the reasons Angus cattle are so popular. There are several objective 3J15 cows on our farm that are exceptional. Raising quality heifers like what is presented here with Bridgehaven Scotch Calf 21C. Take a while and analyze ConneallyCouncelor. There are few bulls that match him in Maternal, index and carcass data. Total Profit and index is ranked top 1%. We believe these attributes make this heifer a top contender in the Blue Water Sale. Here is one of Brian’s favourite two year old’s as she is as long as a freight train and perfectly complemented by her sire leaving her with a moderate frame. Don’t miss her heifer calf on sale day, born February 12, 2016 sired by PA Fortitude 2500…she is pretty darn complete! FLA 18B was bred May 19, 2016 to RB Tour of Duty 177 that should make a really neat mating.

Countess 21Y is one of those big performance cows…she weaned off her PA Fortitude 2500 bull calf on August 6, 2016 with an actual weight of 929lbs (a new record at FLA!). She is a typical Heritage daughter - long, deep, and angular. First Line Angus is retaining the bull calf, First Line Fortitude 3D. Bred March 31, 2016 to RB Tour of Duty 177, which we think will be an exciting mating and pasture exposed to First Line Kodiak 8X from June 1, 2016 to August 1, 2016.
