Welcome to the 2020 bull sale. Our transition from selling yearling to long yearling bulls is finally complete. This year, all our sale bulls will be long yearlings. These bulls were born on grass and weighed with a scale to record their birth weight. As yearlings, they run on grass from early May to late October. These bulls are developed to sell as long yearlings and no bulls have been sold prior to this sale. We are striving to produce bulls that are easy fleshing, have good structure and increase longevity. They will also be able to cover extra cows due to their extra age and maturity. We are very excited to join forces with our good friends from Twin View Livestock â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Aaron Birch and Joe Barnett. This offering will be very high in quality from both operations. He is the youngest bull in our pen but you would never guess that as you analyze him. He is one of the deepest bodied and easy fleshing bulls in the pen with tremendous body mass. Fladeland Grizz 265C was a bull we used in our heifer pen with great success at calving time and great results at weaning time.

We are as passionate as ever in our pursuit to create and raise the highest quality Gelbvieh cattle in the country and it is the work we take on every day. We were once again challenged in 2019 by factors out of our control. Since our move to Saskatchewan, many incredible records have been set including the coldest February in history, the hottest August, and the driest summer ever recorded. We could do without each of these new records however they proved the resilience of our cowherd, ourselves and you! We are always looking forward and constantly working toward setting and achieving goals we set for ourselves. A major one for 2019 was creating Function and Finesse, a Gelbvieh female sale held here at Twin View. October 18 was an incredibly satisfying day for us as we marketed females from Washington state to Ontario with the help of some of our best friends in the business. We believe this event was positive for our program and the breed and we’re looking forward to Function and Finesse 2.0 on October 16, 2020. Please join us! We take great pride in displaying our program in the show ring to promote our work and this breed. We are truly humbled to have raised the 2019 National Champion female who also won Agribition along with the Agribition Champion Bull and Reserve Champion female. We say it all the time but it’s important to repeat that we do not raise show cattle. We appreciate the acceptance of our hardworking, honest, production oriented cattle in that environment but we have never and will never allow show results to dictate the direction of our breeding program. The Boxer was special from day 1 and has taken us on quite a ride! Of course we’re very proud of his dominant show career but we are far more thrilled with his production record. The very first daughters of The Boxer calved this spring with absolutely stunning udders and show a world of promise. His first sons last year averaged nearly $7500 including last fall’s Agribition champion, Mayweather who is already following in his daddy’s footsteps with production beyond himself. With calves on three continents now, The Boxer consistently adds hair and often darkens colour, he improves foot and bone structure and leaves perfect dispositions. We have and will continued to use him heavily despite being related to much of our cowherd. The Boxer is right for the times and will leave his mark on our breed for years to come!

Twin View Charisma 69G has been one of the most exciting calves in our pasture all summer. His liver red colour, additional length of spine, attractive design and overall balance make him a standout in any pen. We displayed him in Red Deer at the People’s Choice Bull Futurity where he was selected as a finalist by our peers. Typical of all Boxer progeny, he is great footed and awesome haired. His dam is a great uddered female with an impressive track record and has achieved Dam of Merit status. We’re really happy with this first group of sons from Eastwood. When we first saw him in Red Deer at the Wish List Bull Jackpot, we knew we had a place for him in our program so jumped on the opportunity to purchase him. We were excited when he was selected as champion the following day. We admired his incredible mass, overall softness and major performance. We used him heavily on both purebred and commercial cows and he left us with primarily bull calves. We have just two heifers in the replacement pen and they are both awesome! Twin View Gran Torino 15G is a real brute with plenty of power and is the ideal candidate to run on Angus based cows. He’ll maintain colour but add hair and dimension to show buyers your calves are cross bred with hybrid vigour. He was born a twin (raised as a single) out of the never miss Dam of Merit, Boe 189A. This makes him a maternal brother to Bojangles 24C a past high seller to Hawkeye Ranch who we also use ourselves, Knock Out 25D who we used ourselves, and Bad Habit 47E who was another high seller to Triple S Cattle. We absolutely love Mystic River’s mother and consistently count on her for a high end product. We purchased her from JSJ Livestock as the high selling female in their spring sale after a successful show career and we are so pleased we did. Twin View Josey Wales 87G was our second display bull for the Futurity and was the third member of our display pen at the Medicine Hat Pen Show. He is densely constructed, big middled, easy doing and really soft made. A unique feature is that he is from two black parents, making him guaranteed diluter free. Twin View Check Mate 50G is a moderate, soggy, stout made rascal raised by a two year old female. We are always so proud when our young cows put bulls into the sale pen and compete with the mature cows in terms of production. Resilient comes from the Gustin program in North Dakota, an operation we have been following for some time and have a lot of respect for the consistency of the cowherd. We’ve had the opportunity to tour several times now and love the cow family behind Resilient. We used him on both red and black cows and found him to calve well with moderate birth weights. We flushed the great Baha 35B to Resilient and showed a son from that flush last fall. We now partner with MacDonell Farms on that exciting breeding piece. Lot 43 Twin View Recoil 10G and Twin View Resistol 11G are twin brothers from the 218Z mother cow who is big bodied and easy doing. A maternal brother sold to Derrick Zell and we have retained sisters in our herd. Recoil 10G was raised on a different cow, is moderate framed and stout made with lots of character about him. Resistol 11G is longer bodied and bigger framed with added extension when compared to his twin brother. This is the first calf crop we had from Resilient and we are pleased with the results. On two separate tours to Gustin’s in North Dakota and we were consistently drawn to the cow family he comes from. Both Recoil and Resistol are DNA tested homozygous polled and homozygous black and they both offer impressive performance EPD tabulations for your mature cows.

Twin View Rainmaker 3G is the total package combining calving ease, performance and maternal excellence. He is the real deal! He was a contender for our show pen all year long with his added length of body, ideal design through his front third and big hip. Rainmaker had a short gestation with a light birthweight from a mature cow who consistently goes above and beyond. The Rainbow females are among our most cherished and his dam 177Z is worthy of donor status, just like her dam who we flushed successfully. 177Z is also the grandmother of lot 35 and had a daughter sell in Function and Finesse to Long Lane Cattle Company. Mark Rainmaker extremely high if you keep replacement females. He is so well rounded and has real value within the industry.

Twin View Tradition 45G ET is a unique individual! Fullblood cattle are extremely difficult to come by. To our knowledge the only two fullblood bulls selling in Canada this year are in our offering. Being homozygous polled makes him particularly unique and adds to his genetic merit. He is sired by a bull named Hard Body who is a son of Gold Star Polled 5D. The fertility on the maternal side of this pedigree is off the charts. His mother, Gayle 32N, flushed exceptionally well (often over 20 #1’s) so we began using different sires in the same flush. Lot 46 and Tradition 45G are actually from the same flush. This cow family is also responsible for Canada’s newest National Champion female, a granddaughter of Gayle 32N. Unfortunately Tradition 45G did not have the best recip mother so he’s been playing catch up since weaning but this is a bull with tons of potential and is a sure fire female maker!

Twin View Foundation 35G ET is a direct son of legendary female maker Gold Star Polled 5D and the prolific donor, Gayle 32N. Foundation is moderate, good haired, big nutted and heavy muscled. An impressive full brother is a herd sire at JSJ Livestock and maternal brothers to Lot 45 & 46 have went to work for ourselves, Twin Bridge Farms, Sandy Knoll Farms in Kansas, Deep Sands Livestock, LMC Farms, Myron Machacek, Marcus Bauer, Hawkeye Ranches and Ridge Lane Ranch. They are also maternal siblings to the 2015 National Champion Female and many more. We are excited to see how their flush mates born in Australia do for Glendale Gelbvieh Stud.
