Dear Friends & Customers, I have spent many nights laying awake in bed trying to figure out how I was going to address this letter, much like the rest of you 2020 tried its best to get us down. To say we have had our share of adversity in the past 12 months would be an understatement. From the crippling drought, to mom’s cancer diagnosis, and the loss of our beloved grandpa Ray, I would be lying if I told you there weren’t some tough days around our place. However, it’s just not in our DNA to wallow in self-pity and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your outpouring support throughout the year. It’s humbling to be involved in business with folks that care about us just the same as their own. With an appreciation for the little things in life, we begin 2021 with a renewed sense of optimism. After some much-needed time away during the holidays, we have had a great month of bull sale prep and I can whole heartedly guarantee this group to be the best we have ever offered. It’s gratifying to walk through this set of cattle and realize the improvements we have made over the years. The bulls we have to offer exemplify that maternal foundation we are committed to upholding. But compared to years past, they have raised the bar in terms of performance and genetic progression. All while never losing sight of structural integrity and those traits of function that just can’t be measured. As for the females, they are of the same quality as the heifers we have in the replacement pen, we are just simply out of room and short on grass. These yearling heifers offer a great opportunity for any young person looking to get their start in the business.

CONTACTS & OWNERS Ron & Kara Frank (970) 539-1771

Looking ahead, I’m sure most of us cattleman would oblige to wishing good riddance to the Coronavirus and political unrest that has brought about more challenges than anyone could have foreseen. Although the presidential election may have not turned out as many of us had hoped, I still wake up every morning with the faith that we serve a greater power. At our place we chose to lean on that faith and focus on the positive things that surround us. If we have learned anything throughout the turbulent year that was 2020, it was that the demand for wholesome US beef is still alive and well. It also served as a reminder to our consumer’s that we are the best and most efficient at what we do and there is no replacement for us as American farmers and ranchers. And for that I tip my hat to all of you that have persevered and never blinked in the eye of adversity, for we are and will remain the backbone of this nation. With the recent spike in commodity prices, and female sales fetching top dollar across the country, there’s no doubt we are gaining steam heading into the new year. It’s an exciting time to be in this industry and it’s easy to see the morale improving amongst our friends and neighbors. That feeling of enthusiasm has been gone for far too long, and it’s refreshing to witness!

Jeremy & Michelle Moles (970) 381-6238

Finally, I would like to extend a deep and sincere thank you to all our neighbors and customers alike that have leant a helping hand and supported our program throughout the years. Your contributions don’t go unnoticed and we are forever grateful for the opportunity to work with some of the best in the business. If you are new to our program, I would like to invite you to come meet us and inspect a tremendous set of cattle that we will be offering on Monday February 15th in Chappell, NE.

• When we started our venture in to the seedstock business I promised myself one thing. I wouldn’t take any short cuts in building our program by strictly selecting big numbered cattle that aren’t cut out to perform in our environment. That task has been much easier said than done. However, this outstanding son of Musgrave 316 Exclusive is proof that we are on the right track! • Never have we offered a bull with as much rib, body, and power that is as well balanced and perfect sized as Lot 1. Being backed by one of the best young cows in the herd, we are confident you will end up keeping every one of his daughters. • It’s exciting to offer a herd sire that meets our maternal focus, but still has carcass and growth traits that rank in the top third of the breed. If you have been on the hunt for an all-around herd bull that is as impressive on the hoof as he is on paper, Lot 1 has the potential to improve your program for generations! • EPD percentile rankings: $F top 15%, RADG top 15%, YW top 20%, $B top 20%, $C top 25%

• When it comes to pedigree and performance Lot 2 is in a league of his own. His maternal grand dam Vision Edella 665 is one of the foundation females for Vision Angus and is also the mother of Vision Unanimous 1418, who has served as a main herd sire for the Peak Dot program in Canada. The Edella cow family is one of our favorites! They are some of the best footed, easiest keeping, and most fertile females on our place. • This long bodied Exclusive son has the actual weight and performance to fit his extraordinary EPD profile. To go along with that extra performance and growth, it’s becoming evident to us that the Exclusive sons will always be standouts for that extra style and eye appeal we all love. • You’ll be hard pressed to find a more maternal pedigree with his EPD percentile rankings: WW top 3%, $F top 4%, YH top 4%,CW top 4%, YW top 5%, MH top 5%, $W top 10%, $C top 10%, RE Top 15%, $B top 15%

• Lot 3 is one of the best calving ease prospects to ever come out of our program. Just like the other Exclusive sons in our offering, 053 has the power and look of a real herd sire to go with that extra rib shape and fleshing ability that we need in our part of the world. • With an actual BW of 63lbs and a birth ratio of 83, he is the top calving ease prospect of the set! You will drive long and far to find a bull that ranks in the top 1% of the breed for CED and BW, with his kind of growth and marbling EPD’s. • I’m impressed with maternal potential in the Exclusive sire group, but he takes it a step further with added carcass merit and growth compared to other sons of LD Capitalist 316. This will be one of your first opportunities to buy his genetics at auction!

This is an opportunity to purchase a young herd sire that blends timeless genetics with a very current and balanced EPD profile.

• Playbook has been a high use sire for us over the past several years, and for many years to come his daughters will have a profound impact on our program. • Lot 11 stands out amongst his sire group with performance traits that rank him amongst the top 10% of the breed for WW and $W. If you sale calves at weaning 057 would be an outstanding option.

• Do you sell your calves by the pound? Do you take pride in the quality of your cow herd? If you answered yes to these two questions, these HA Cowboy Up flush brothers out of our Erica 421 donor are the bulls for you! These two studs hail from the same cow family as the Erica 098 female that has been very successfully shown by the Carlson family of Julesburg. Bringing home division 1 champion honors at the 2020 NE State Fair, 3rd Overall Female in Ring B at the 2020 Cardinal Classic, and most recently being named Supreme Champion Female at the first annual New Years Beef Bash. • On the business end these bulls are impressive in terms of shear performance, both weaning off ahead of the group and topping 1300 lbs at a year of age. Bringing more growth and ruggedness to the offering than we have ever had. • You will cover a lot of miles trying to find a pair of bulls that pack their kind of power and performance into a uniquely stylish package.

• This business is tough, but it sure is rewarding to see our genetic selections pay off! I couldn’t be more excited to offer our biggest group of Vision Overdrive sons to date! As our go to heifer bull over the past couple of years, he continues to impress. Never have we used a calving ease bull that sires consistently light birthweights with tons of vigor, but race to weaning time coming off their mothers just as heavy as the calves raised by the mature cows. • Lot 21 takes performance to another level, packing on as much rib, bone, and muscle as we have ever seen all in an easy fleshing moderate framed package. • It’s hard to breed cattle that rank in the top 10% for both WW and YW, all while staying below the 50% mark for both Yearling and Mature Height. 022 exemplifies our commitment raising high performance cattle that are maternally focused and physically capable of thriving in our environment.

• The only Sim Angus in the offering! This younger percentage bull is out of JJ’s 75% cow, an own daughter of the wildly popular W/C Relentless. • If you know anything about our operation, you know that my right hand man JJ makes our place run. It is with great pride that we are able to give back to such a selfless young man that gives his all to us. • Although he’s one of the younger bulls in the offering, lot 31 packs a punch. I really appreciate his moderate frame size with added muscle shape and dimension. He should stamp his calves with the same power and presence.

RED ANGUS YEARLING BULLS

LOT 33 • The OVER DRAFT PICK sire group has far exceeded our expectations; we have never used a red bull with as much versatility. I’m completely convinced he is the most well-rounded sire in the breed! We have had tremendous success with him as our go to calving ease option, but it’s rare to find a bull that can produce both sons and daughters of his caliber. • Our Lot 33 bull has been outstanding since the day he was born. From his dark color, to his unmatched style, this big nutted yearling has all the pieces it takes to make a lasting impact in your operation. • Backed by data 055 is impressive on paper, he started with an actual BW of 63 lbs but finds himself near the top 5% of the breed for both WW and YW EPD. There won’t be many calving ease red angus bulls sold this spring that can match his type and performance!

Sire of Lot 51

• We aren’t holding anything back this year, and when it comes to lot 51 I have mixed feelings about offering him up. On one hand I’m excited to offer one the most advanced genetic pieces we have ever created. And on the other, I’m not sure we will be able to replace his incredible mass and presence. • As far as pedigree goes, the 918 bull is a total outcross to the majority our genetic lines and represents some of the most progressive sires in the breed. • It’s hard to find a top 1% CED bull coupled with his massive body shape and top 10% growth. What’s even more fascinating, is the way he combines impressive $Values with unmatched style and eye appeal in the flesh. • If you are looking to take your herd to the next level, Lot 51 is the kind of bull to accomplish the task!

American Angus Association $Value Indexes

Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), an index expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from conception to weaning. $M is built off of a self-replacing herd model where commercial cattlemen replace 25% of their breeding females in the first generation and 20% in subsequent generations. Remaining cull females and all male progeny are sold as feeder calves. Increased selection pressure on $M aims to decrease overall mature cow size and improve foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with today’s production. Weaned Calf Value ($W), an index expressed in dollars per head, provides the expected difference in future progeny preweaning performance from birth to weaning. $W assumes that producers retain 20% of their female progeny for replacements and sell the rest of their cull female and male progeny as feeder calves. Over time, increased selection pressure on $W will increase pre-weaning growth through additional weaning weight and maternal milk with expenses adjustment for mature size and maternal milk.

Feedlot Value ($F), an index expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning merit compared to progeny of other sires. The underlying objective assumes commercial producers will retain ownership of cattle through the feedlot phase and sell fed cattle on a carcass weight basis with no considerations of premiums or discounts for quality and yield grade. EPDS DIRECTLY INCORPORATED INTO EACH $VALUE Grid Value ($G), an index expressed in dollars per carcass, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit, including quality and yield grade attributes, compared to progeny of other sires.

Dollar value indexes, or $Values, are a tool used to select for several traits at once based on a specific breeding objective. An economic index approach takes into account genetic and economic values as well as the relationships between traits to select for profit.

Beef Value ($B), an index expressed in dollars per carcass, facilitates simultaneous multi-trait genetic selection for feedlot and carcass merit. $B represents the expected average differences in the progeny post-weaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. This index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female progeny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot phase and market these animals on a quality-based carcass grid. Combined Value ($C), an index expressed in dollars per head, includes all traits that make up both $M and $B with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and eventually sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid.

AMERICAN ANGUS ASSOCIATION SELECTION TOOLS Expected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus. Accuracy (ACC), is the reliability that can be placed on the EPD. An accuracy of close to 1.0 indicates higher reliability. Accuracy is impacted whether the animal has a genotype and the number of progeny and ancestral records included in the analysis. Calving Ease Direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. Birth Weight (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Weaning Weight (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Residual Average Daily Gain (RADG), feed efficiency expressed in pounds per day, is a predictor of a sire’s genetic ability for postweaning gain in future progeny compared to that of other sires, given a constant amount of feed consumed. Yearling Weight (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Yearling Height (YH), is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling height, expressed in inches, compared to the that of other sires. Scrotal Circumference (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.

Maternal Milk (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability. Mature Weight (MW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the difference in mature weight of daughters of a sire compared to the daughters of other sires. Mature Height (MH), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the difference in mature height of a sire’s daughters compared to daughters of other sires. MANAGEMENT Docility (DOC), is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility in a sire’s offspring compared to another sire. Claw Set (Claw), is expressed in units of claw-set score, a lower EPD is more favorable, indicating a sire will produce progeny with more symmetrical, even and appropriately spaced toes. Foot Angle (Angle), is expressed in units of foot-angle score, a lower EPD is more favorable, indicating a sire will produce progeny with an angle closer to 45 degrees at the pastern and appropriate toe length and heel depth. Pulmonary arterial pressure EPD (PAP), is expressed in millimeters of Mercury (mmHg), with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire should produce progeny with a lower PAP score to decrease the risk of progeny contracting high altitude disease most commonly experienced at 5,500 ft or greater in elevation.

CARCASS Carcass Weight (CW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Marbling (Marb), is expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling MATERNAL score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Heifer Pregnancy (HP), is a selection tool to increase the probability or chance of Ribeye Area (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant as first–calf heifers during a normal breeding ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. season. A higher EPD is more favorable. Fat Thickness (Fat), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in Calving Ease Maternal (CEM), is expressed as a difference in percentage of external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires.

$VALUE INDEXES $Value Indexes, reported in dollars per head, are multi-trait economic selection indexes where a higher values suggest more profit when comparing two individuals. Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny from conception to weaning by decreasing mature cow size and improving docility, foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with current production. Weaned Calf Value ($W), expressed in dollars per head, provides the expected difference in future progeny preweaning performance from birth to weaning. Cow Energy Value ($EN), is expressed in dollar savings per cow each year due to lower cow maintenance energy requirements (due to lactation and body size) with a larger number being more favorable. Feedlot Value ($F), expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning feedlot merit (growth and feed efficiency) compared to progeny of other sires assuming producers retain ownership of cattle and sell on a carcass weight basis. Grid Value ($G), expressed in dollars per carcass, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit, including quality and yield grade attributes, compared to progeny of other sires. Beef Value ($B), expressed in dollars per carcass, represents the expected average differences in the progeny postweaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. This index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female progeny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot and sell on a carcass merit grid. Combined Value ($C), an index, expressed in dollars per head, includes all traits that make up both $M and $B with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid.

• Ruggedness at it’s finest! Lot 55 is another one of those that we probably shouldn’t be offering. I have never seen a Red Angus bull with feet that are as massive and correctly shaped. • This Gentle giant is Derek and the Kids’ favorite bull on the place. Not only does he have an awesome disposition, but his 6 yr old dam is one of the most fertile, and productive cows we own. It’s those type of low maintenance females that will keep us in business and keep our customers coming back for their sons. • We felt strongly enough about his potential, that we ran him as a yearling to clean up a small group of cows this past summer. If you are looking for a big time Red herd bull with the type of feet the breed desperately needs, pay close attention to 925. He’s the kind we need!

• This Long Yearling son of 6341 sure has the look! Talk about a long and smooth profile with a tremendous amount of muscle shape and performance. • What an opportunity! If he weren’t already related to nearly half our cows, I’d have to legitimately consider keeping him. Take advantage of chance to bring a tremendous amount of consistency to your own herd.

• These 507 daughters are worth their weight in gold! When you think of maternal genetics there are none more prolific than those cattle with Impression in their pedigrees. These three Paternal granddaughters are the right kind. If you are looking for a group of great footed females that are bred to perform, this set of heifers are sure to be fertile and long lasting. • With predictability in their blood, the lot 61 female is a full sib to the dam of the lot 23 bull, and lot 62 is a maternal sib to the popular lot 2 bull from last year’s sale that went to the Ray Ranch.

• What a set of red heifers! If we had enough grass to run these, they would definitely be in the replacement pen. None the less we are proud to offer such a deep and impressive set in this year’s offering! • Lot 72 is a maternal sister to our impressive Husker 737 bull that was the sire of top selling female in last year’s bull sale. You won’t find females of this caliber on every street corner, take advantage of the opportunity! • Lot 75 is a direct daughter of our first ever Red Angus donor. You can find these same genetics at the front end of our cow herd.
